I don't think CCC did, he made the point you should have in one post. I'm not going to get in a great debate but no way you can honestly say that your intent was to just let him know it was illegal or you could have simply said "not sure if you are aware but it is illegal to use bait, or attractents of any kind in NY for whitetails" instead your first post you made a comment to suggest that but yet make him feel inferior but not just stating the law, you baited the post for others to chime in and bust on him. If you say otherrwise I think you are fooling only yourself. You did state the rules in the 2nd post but again it's overkill once you state the law leave it at that or just turns poeple away because I'm sure he doesn't feel like he just learned a valuable lesson, probably feels more like he got kicked out of the boys club. Hey man I'm sure you are a great guy I have seen many of your posts ad appreciate them I'm just saying it always seems like sites like this end of getting crapped up because people get to uptight about things and are way to oppionated and honestly by me entering into this mini debate I'm doing the same. Good luck with the upcoming season I hope you do great.

Be warned that studies show by doing this method or any other that basically sufficates the tick you cause hte tick to stress and it releases more of it's toxins which may result in a higher risk of infection. Even though it does work well there is a greater risk in using this technique. Just a heads up.

What I meant was, I'm pretty sure the guy and everyone else knows mineral licks are illegal, its not really all that tough to know that, so why beat up on every single post people put up, it's not like DEC is going to see you scold someone and give you a medal. Even if you want to inform them, thats fine, PM them or something but dont start the same "great debate" over and over and over again. Maybe I'm that only one thinking this but I highly doubt it. And all I meant about the cell phone or speeding etc. is simply that people break the law everyday all day and obvisouly we know about it but there is no need to tell someone like they don't necessarily already know. And I think there are many sportsman on here that follow the rules myslef included but again, we are all on here becuase we love the outdoors and share a passion, there really isn't the extra need to beat up on someone who is posting pics and discourage them from future posts, their mineral block can only get them in trouble not you so let the cards fall how they may.

Dude he and everybody else gets it, for crying out loud get off the podium, man some people just love to bust on others to make themselves feel better. You are probably the only guy on the face of the planet that doens't talk on a cell phone driving, speed, roll through stop signs or do anythign else illegal right. Just give it up, we know its illegal, we get it. They are just pictures, and I don't think deer are going to be extinct in NY from people putting out a mineral that helps the health of wildlife that can otherwise be found naturally in the environment anyway. Man its pain in the a$$ posts like these why nobody wants to post on these sites but the same few guys that have to constantly stroke themselves.

NIce looking buck for sure, gonna be a wide and glide by the looks

Great Shot as usual Dave

yah The Northern Gobbler I got was 15 yards to my right for 20 minutes doing the same I thought he was never going to come out in front, had that happen so many times where they are close enough but you just cant move and they loose interest or go behind and walk away. All part of the chess game and I wouldn't have it any other way.

I felt like I was in the Turkey woods when I read this, almost like V-nam flashback if you know what I mean.... LOL There is no mistaking a spitting and drumming Tom and if you hear it you are well within the killing zone. If you have one that hangs up alot there are several tactics you can try but none are for sure. My favorite to get a stubborn bird to commit is to fire up a really aggressive hen fight, I work 2 mouth calls and a slate and will cut in with a gobble from time to time. Alot of times it is just to much for them to handle. The key usually is getting the ladies to commit and he will come in tow. Sometimes just a suttle move left or right will work to, he has to think there are a couple ladies and they might be on the move. Sometimes its just shutting up and letting his curiousity get to him. Good luck

Congrats bud, if it wasn't challenging it wouldn't be Turk hunting Nice job!
-
Yah, I'm thinking you may be right If he was I failled in my QTM and should have passed on him he would have been a slammer as a 4yr old, of course he would have been trippign on his beard when he walked

Awesoem Job jay, congrats again on a great season and very interesting info I wasn't aware, i can tell the difference in a 1 and 2 year old versus a 3+ plus that is good info. As for the spur theory you can't rely on that, it is true a good long sharp spur will most likely reveal the bird isn't obviously not 1 and most likely not 2 but there are plenty of areas where birds don't have long sharp spurs regardless of age. The birds we shoot up north in the mountains always have 3/4-1" rounded off spurs, another great buddy of mine hunts the catskills and all of his birds have rounded or broken spurs from climbing rocky slopes. Its a rule of thumb but not necessarily a for sure indication. Honestly it's great to know if you shot a old warrior but we all hunt mature gobblers and know how hard it can be to get a longbeard in front of you whether he is 2 or 8. Good luck gang!

I bet it is a tame bird that got out, wouldn't be the first one ever shot. You got him either way, congrats
-
Congrats again Cory, maybe next year we can hook up when I'm up north, I got a decent brid Friday in Constable. The birds are really henned up it seems.

A very high percentage of birds will gobble before or when they roost up for the night you just have to hit it right and obviously be within hearing range. The best call I have success with is thee owl hoot and it is best when you almost can't even see. I would stay aways form the box call or any hen call as they get smart fast. I really prefer to just get into the area an listen for them flying into the roost or just gobble on their own then back out quietly. If you aren't hearing them from the roost and you know they are there, well I guess you don't need to hear them then, but what might be happening is you have alot of predators around and the gobbler are smart enough to not give their location away to yotes and Fox for an easy mornign snack when they pitch out. Hope this helps

It is legit it's also in NY outdoors news this past month, awesome buck I think 190 something

Holy moly that is a absolute giant

Yah he knows alright, private property. If you don't own it or it isn't public then just because it is the off season deosn't give you the right to walk it and collect sheds. In regards to tips, the best spots are food sources the deer are using this time of year, bedding areas and hedgrows or major runs to and from these areas. FYI road ROW's are fair game ti some extent but getting into the properties adjacent to the roads is not unless you have landowner permission otherwise it's tresspassing so be careful you wouldn't want someone one your hunting ground would you?

Anyone want to know the score of their buck?
33Canuck posted a topic in NY Hunting Calendar / Events
The Northeast Big Buck Club will be holding its annual Deer and Beer scoring session at Fandango's in Bloomfield NY on February the 11th from12:00 till whenever. Feel free to stop in with your buck from this season or seasons past and get the antlers measured for the books. Spread the word and if you don't have a deer of your own stop by and say hi and see some great NY bucks. Let me know if you have any questions.
