  1. Weeds and branched you will learn need to be clear or the wind will kill you. The flash and IR also bounces off clutter so it's always good to get that stuff out of the way. The key is do it with a brack or something so you don't leave to much human scent or you will usually only get one pic of each deer from that point they will avoid the setup
  2. He looks at least 4 to me, real good body and antler mass. Good luck this fall bud!
  3. Several over the past few years, seems like most of them I got on cam a short time before the encounter so they were in the area briefly, well till I whacked them ;D
  4. I would say he is the same buck as well you can see the character develop at the same locations. His left brow comes off the main beam and hooks in the same manor, there is a chance it is different but I would bet its the same dude and he will be awesome next fall if he can find a hidey hole. I respect you for your discipline thats what you need to do to get quality bucks. The dumba$$ mentality that if you pass the neighbor will shoot it is rediculous. Nobody would ever get a deer older than 2 if that was the case and we all know even in high pressure areas you can take mature deer if you don't think so I would be happy to come hunt your land and leave all the 1, 2 ,3 yr olds for your I will only harvest the mature deer you seem to think don't exist. I'm not saying don't shoot whatever you want just don't use rediculous reasoning to justify taking younger bucks, harvest what satisfies your trigger finger and leave it at that. Sorry to convolute your thread bud you got some great bucks running around and I commend your efforts 100%
  5. Should be AC not AR, its about tagging mature bucks not necessarily big antlered deer that should be the focus although with mature deer generally comes bigger antlers but I will take a 4 1/2 yr old 6pt with mass and character over a 2 yr old 10pt with great potential anyday, one is clearly harder to harvest
  6. Pretty mangy looking yotes they may take care of themselves
  7. Yup and he knows where the groceries are!
  8. I would almost 100% bet there's minerals/salts and I would bank on them not being natural, At least you will have a healthy herd
  9. Far, Folks live in Bellmont north east of Malone and we hunt ground close to the border. Good numbers of birds around still hard to get on though
  10. Congrats G! And yes jake nuggets breaded in Panko crumbs with wing sauce and blue cheese is mmmmmmm mmmmmmm good! Called a Tom and jake in for a buddy this wekeend he decided on the tender Jake, well that's not really how it went down but we will stick with that since the end result was a nice tender Jake ;D
  11. Not having had much success in the fingerlakes I took a trip north for a few days. We got washed out the last few days but did have 2 days in which that bright orb in the sky showed and so did the gobblers. I had multiple gobblers sounding off in the roost from the distance on the first morning, after waiting till 6:30 and hearing them hit the ground and continue to gobbler I decided to run and gun but by the time I got moving they went silent. I worked my way into a block of timber in the direction they were and put out some excited yelps, nothing, I decided to do a fighting purr, bam about as far as I could hear a gobbler responded. I moved closer and hit the calls again and bam he cut back. I set up and proceeded to talk back and forth for 10-15 minutes as he got closer. I could see his turquois bean coming through the timber 100 yards out, he put on a text book show strutting, drumming, spitting, and gobbling all the way in, 35 yards out I let a cluck and the cannon barked and tag #1 was filled with a great north country gobbler. 22 1/2lbs 9 1/4" beard 1 1/4" and 1" spurs.
  12. Quarter and Pack it out old school style, that's how it's done the Dacks!
  13. I scored this buck last year for the guy(150") and the story I got was it was found in Henrietta not Letchworth. One thing is for sure you can't believe crap these days but both bucks are monsters. Hunt hard and often, one thing is for sure, even if you move hunting locations you won't get those 2 they are already out of population.
  14. Thanks bud! I'm looking to upgrade my older Sony cam to something with good digital HD
  15. Cool footage bud, what kind of camera are you guys running?
  16. I agree, awesome pics but I would worry way to much about rising waters and flooded cams
  17. Nice video bud! I have been working with my retrievers the past couple years I like to locate and them have them fetch them up they do pretty good but have only found a couple without me spotting them first. The one I place are easy for them since they have my scent on them I might try wearing gloves to handle them as I train them. My next pooch will be on it from day one for sure, still fun to watch them work. They def have no problem finding the carcasses with head gear
  18. You guys are full of bull#@$, if you shot a big buck and it somehow found a place you couldn't quite locate it immedaitly but then found it within a week or so you would still claim it as if it were the day you shot it. At least it was recovered. Come on here with this crap about knife handles aand such. The reality is you harvested the deer and it does happen that deer will cover major ground and not always be found immediately after the shot but that shouldn't take anything away from the trophy and the hunting experience. We have all made marginal shots and if you haven't then you haven't been hunting long or hard enough. Fact is it happens, why does everyone have to put such negative attitudes into such a awesome sport. Geesh just leave it alone already.
