I am making this thread to help others find information and timelines on getting their pistol permit, and keep an online record for my self. I thought I had already created a thread like this but can't seem to find it anywhere so maybe I just thought about it and never got around to it. the timeline will not be accurate for everyone in franklin county and fees are subject to change at any time april 18, 2012: digital fingerprints taken and application submitted october 8, 2012: call from investigating officer requesting interview and 2 additional references october 9,2012: interview with investigating officer pistol permit application fee: $15 fingerprint and background check fee: $105.25 2 passport photos: $10 total: $130.25 More to come pending advancements in permit process. The process to obtain a pistol permit is fairly easy. The hardest part is waiting and trying to be patient.

If I ever hear back on my pistol permit I will carry while hunting. I submitted the application on april 18th of this years, it feels like I have been waiting for 5 years to hear back. The worst part about it is my mother works with the person who does part of the background check in this county and it hasn't even crossed his desk yet.

To Tink's or not to Tink's, that is the question....
noahmstone replied to Suilleabhain's topic in Deer Hunting
My father swore by tinks when he used to hunt. He claims that more than once he had an 8 point walk up behind him while still hunting. But he also hunted and area that didn't see any other hunting pressure for miles. I tried it my first few seasons and the only thing I ever got to follow me was a fawn that didn't know any better. The areas I hunt are more high pressure areas that the deer have already been educated. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. -
There were articles all over the news around march that they had a group of about 18 (iirc) of them in Peru ny just south of Plattsburgh. One part of me wanted the herd to move about an hour and half northwest but the other part of me doesn't want to see the damage they create. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk.

What do you store your gear in?
noahmstone replied to BigMike's topic in Hunting Gear Reviews and Gear Discussions
I would always store everything in garbage bags and double bag everything. This past season I had an extra tote laying around so I washed it out with sent killer soap and threw everything in. I opened it up yesterday to check if anything needed to be replaced before this season starts and it stunk. So I guess I am going to rewash everything and rewash the tote. Then I will try throwing some cedar branches and dirt in and hope they don't stink again in a few weeks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. -
I hear stories like this all the time. I have seen people pick up .22's for $10-20. I have never been lucky enough to find a gun other than a bb gun and an old shot gun that they wanted over $1000 for at a garage sale let alone find a good deal on one. My uncle has bought 2 climbers one for $20 one for $25 and a bunch of hang on stands for $10-$15 a piece and one ladder stand for $20. The best I can ever find for hunting equipment is old worn out camo clothes that doesn't fit and is almost as much as they want new in the store. But I still stop and look anyway. Nice looking gun you got there btw. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk.

So got my draw length fixed. I think if I get to the bow course I will be ready this year. The only problem I have is I might have to go for jury duty the first day of the bow course. I am doing pretty good at 20 yards But I need a little more work at 30 yards Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk.

Ok the little research I have done says that these sights will be released in October and a black one will be $149 and camo will be $159? Also this technology is already out. Apparently trophy ridge already sells a similar sight called the judge that retails for $249 and received decent reviews. That being said just starting out I would prefer to set up my own sight and be confident that I my pins are set where I need them to be. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk.

That is the first I have seen this. I am new to archery but it looks to good to be true. If It works I might be interested but I don't see how it would work with so many setups having different trajectories. I am also wondering what the price tag on it is. I would wait to get some actual reviews from average joes before I jumped on it. I also like a bigger bead on my sight pins. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk.

Thank you I just ran into a deal on it that I couldn't pass up in the beginning of july. I have never been big on state land but I might learn to like it. The waterfront alone has me hooked. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk.

I camp to escape reality and spend time with family and friends. Camping to me is anything from nothing but a tent and a fire pit to going to a cabin for a few days. As long as there is a fire and family and friends it is camping. My newest idea of camping right next to 22,000 acres of state land Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk.

My father used to take me shed hunting when I was a kid. He used to find a bunch every year and me nothing. I started up again this year after a 15 year break and still nothing. You have a lot of hard work in that pile. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk.

I remember when I was real little my father always went to hunting camp for a week and I always wished I could go. He would come back with a buck and I would help skin and process the deer. I wouldn't leave my fathers side until the last piece went into the freezer. When I was about 7or 8 my father started taking me out with him for a still hunt one day before he would take off to go to camp. He took me small game hunting for a few years after I took my hunters safety course but he he no longer had the hunting camp. So it didn't take long before he quit hunting. He refuses to hunt out of a tree stand and always said he had to travel to far every morning to have access to enough land for him to still hunt. To this day I still haven't spent time at a hunting camp I just hunted by myself. This year I bought a camp next to brasher state forrest and talked my father into taking a week off in november to start hunting again. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk.

It still didn't work. I tried to disassociate my account from my facebook. That was a big mistake I lost everything. I registered this account and good new my tapatalk works now. is there anyway I can get my name back and all my posts back on this account? It would also be nice to be able to use my old email address.

I have Tapatalk installed on my iphone it works great on 2 other forums I belong to but it won't allow me to sign in on this one. I can read posts but it won't let me respond without signing in. The only reason I can think of that it won't let me sign in is because I registered on this forum through my facebook. Is there a way I can sign in or do I have to create a whole new account not connected to my facebook? or am I just doing it wrong?

I don't have a range around but i have been trying to shoot in my backyard before work. Right now I am waiting for the correct module to arrive before I start shooting again.
-
So one guy measured my draw length at 27.5 and another guy is supposed to set the bow to that. he has me draw the bow back and says oh it doesn't need any adjustments it fits you great. well the bow is setup at 29 inches and my arm is bruised all to h3ll!!! I don't think I will be doing business with this shop again. I also found that I can no longer order the draw module directly from Diamond because it has been discontinued so I just spent an hour and a half looking online for a place that has one in stock I found one but it looks like I am going to have to wait about 2 weeks to start shooting my new bow.
-
Ok so I realized real fast today that I should have invested in an armguard!!! after I get an armguard and a better target I will proceed to practice.
-
Thank you for the offer again doewhacker. But good news. I went out and bought myself a diamond rock that was on clearance because it has been discontinued by diamond. now to start shooting and figure out how all this works.
