  1. I had a Z6. Swarovski makes a great scope.
  2. We see the most bucks between 10/29 and about 11/10. Honestly Biz, if limited stack the days towards end of Oct not Oct 2-3. Early season bucks are rare and you really only have a decent chance at last light. IMO. If you had one patterned an early shot is worth it, otherwise late oct is much better
  3. The synergy would be a perfect bow for a new shooter because it so buttery smooth and forgiving. Not the fastest but fast enough.
  4. Yep. Pretty much how it works. Glad you have it down. In all seriousness, of the 10s of compounds I owned, the Matthews helium was my least favorite. Very unforgiving short valley on it. But the Halon may be great. My only compound now is a obsession and it's fast, big valley and solid back wall. Phades elite synergy is also crazy smooth with let off from a 60lb bow that my 8yr old daughter could dominate.
  5. No wonder you never took up archery before. Way too complicated.
  6. The one that looks cool is the one laying next to a dead deer which is the one you shoot best. Bedides Biz I know you don't need a bow to look cool. Lol
  7. Lol. I guess so. You have convinced yourself but based on what, it's not clear. They all make a good bow. Keep an open mind.
  8. Why so tied to Matthews? Seems like you are limiting yourself based on brand loyalty. But you have not even shot one or others.
  9. Not on the boat but in a tackle bag where we keep squids flys and flashers. I tore my house apart and never looked in the freaking bag we pulled off the boat. Never crossed my mind I would put them in with tackle. Uggghh. I now have some items to return. Lol
  10. Found Em! And I refuse to divulge where as it further confirms my stupidity.
  11. Good call. I made the mistake my first season of not attaching the harness to the tree while climbing and slid down a shag bark tree about 10'. I nice pucker moment.
  12. cotton hanlon (sp?) is another option as are county records coupled with letters and knocking on doors
  13. So just curious, but by deterring the deer now, are you also preventing the pattern that you hope to have to kill deer or is the idea that they will revert to a more normal patter when you pull the tins come early season (or perhaps this is intended to be a late season plot)? Glad to hear that $20 covered it.
  14. I haven't seen him post in a while, but Happy BDay if you are checking in!
  15. I am sure we have had other split tine bucks but only one this year.
  16. cmon out Grampy. In fairness, we know of a few older bucks that made it from last season so it's easy to be a bit jaded. But who knows if they will be back. I hope. Certainly nothing wrong with split g2. He may be gone come season too.
  17. hes not a jaw dropper but cool buck.
  18. Yep Larry you seem to do just fine. In addition to terrain, number of transition areas, funnels, bedding areas and food sources (all of which may require several different wind based stands) I think more stands are needed to ease pressure with more hunters especially on smaller parcels. 3 guys hunting together will burn a few stands fast. I should say both Larrys.
  19. But I like just as much this shot. Keep the does and the bucks come when we hunt
  20. Buckmaster - just a thought but whenever my shooting starts to go bad its usually because I am drive by shooting. I will slow down, draw, aim and then hold at least a 3 count before releasing, then also hold a 3 count on target after I release. I will also practice by drawing, aiming and holding for 10 seconds or so and letting down. Next arrow I will actually release and then another hold and let down. This usually gets me back on track quickly and the holds ensure that you have that total control, the opposite of TP. Also, check out Joel Turner of Iron Mind archery. He is supposed to be the guru of overcoming TP. Good luck. Sorry no help on the back tension release.
  21. Happy BDay you big jerk! Enjoy your special day.
