  3. In the stand for the first time this year. It's a cool 34 by me so hopefully it gets them moving. A lot of fog unfortunately so I'm limited to 50 yard visibility Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. live from the class room. Not nearly as exciting as live from the woods. I'm hoping that this time tomorrow I'll have a deer down. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Up until now I've only used rage broadheads and have had great luck with them. I recently bought a pack of kill zones to try, but I'll still have a rage titanium in my quiver. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Out of the two you suggested, you'll probably be better off with the Winchester 70. So many other great company's out there, so why limit yourself to those two. Sako, Kimber, Mauser and Browning are great companies to look at as well just to name a few.
  7. I made gun rest extension for one of my treestands that i use during rifle season. Ill have to find in my phone so i can post a pick. All i did was buy some aluminum, screws, nuts and drill some holes in it...nothing special.
  8. You have to respect that DEC agent!
  9. He knows the boundary very well. He owns only one acre that the family sold him back in the 90's. He knows he's not the owner of that land...if you only pay taxes for one acre you don't own the 11 acres behind that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. 2010 was the year of the flood. Took a couple years but they recovered eventually. That was actually my first year up.
  11. Numbers don't really phase me as I fish the same area every year and that gets locked down and we all give each other plenty of elbow room. Deer season takes up too much of my time, or else id be up there a lot more. Hopefully in the future i can make it up more often.
  12. I heard that they are going to drop the chinook numbers over the next few years. The fact that they ran 335 through out sept and then had to drop to 185 once the fishing started to get good is pissing me off. I've seen the numbers of fisherman drop as well, not sure that's so goof for the local economy but it is good for the fishing. Glad those snagging days are over, but the town pool this year was pretty bad. I don't know how people fish there with all those morons. All we can do is hope next year is better and for all the steelhead run strong this year for those that can make it out there at that time.
  13. Thanks, I appreciate it. Crowds can be annoying but seeing the same people every year and catching salmon with them is always fun! Wish you could see the river when they're really running, these last few years makes me really appreciate the good times. To be honest my own mother said that to me before haha. I think you might be on to something here lol.
  14. It was in the slower area's, but the rapids usually had plenty of room in it. Id love to make it out to the west...preferably Alaska for some real salmon fighting. Idk why but id love to go coho fishing...for some reason I love to catch those guys. I wouldn't mind catching some sockeye as well.
  15. Ive seen some real weird crap there in that town. If you ever think about coming up again, I could show you a couple spots where you wont see too many idiots.
  16. Oh so you would line up on that cement wall. I don't fish to far from there. Too many idoits at the town pool now.
  17. Don't think i want anything to get physical as this guy is also a father, and no kid should witness a parent in a physical confrontation. I have all of his information and will be talking to him as soon as possible. No hard feelings as long as he no longer invites people to hunt and no longer moves through the property during hunting season.
  18. Only a couple hours away from you...maybe less if i remember correctly. You ever need advise just shoot me a pm
  19. Just tried fly for the first time this year and i'm hooked on it, but I used spin set up for 6 years prior. If you need any advise just ask away. You can definitely do well with a spin set up.
  20. I let most things slide, but trespassers piss me off. I pay the taxes for that land and work my ass off, only to have someone reap my rewards. He also just had to sit under my stand. I won't lie he was squatting in front of my stand so I thought he was taking a dump which really pissed me off. Glad you found a good way to deal with trespassers though Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. He said he was given wrong information...the question is if he's telling the truth. He probably is telling the truth so I'll have to go talk to the guy he mentioned next time I make it up to hunt this weekend. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Thanks bud! Low waters is definitely impacting them hard, especially sandy creek...i don't even want to think about how low that was since the SR was only 185 cfs. The good thing is rain is on the way and the river temps have cooled. But I don believe hey are considering dropping be stocking rates because of the drop in alewife population. Wish I would have known you were in the area, I would have told you to swim by my spot, we were doing alright on Monday (hooked two massive steeli's and landed one). 23. So On my way back to my house from Salmon fishing on the salmon river in Pulaski NY, I decided to check one of my hunting spots because I know someone has been going on to that land for years, and I had a good idea who it was. Well as soon as I get there I see a ground blind right under my tree stand. As i make my way to the blind to remove it, I see a hunter sitting literally on the deer trail with a bow in hand. When I go up to him and ask how I can help him, he immediately says he's hunting on so and so's land. Well that can't be since that land has been in the family since before I was born. He told me he was told by that guy, the land was his and gave him permission to hunt. I told him it's not his land and that he should probably pack his things as well as the blind and not come back. He was very respectful so I re-payed the respect with respect of my own. We even walked away together and shook hands a couple times. He claimed they didn't see my stand but he was literally right around it. Real nice guy, but who knows if he was lying and knew it wasn't that guys, but chose to hunt it anyway. What would you guys do in this situation? I'm thinking about knocking on that guys door since he told me who the guy was. We knew he's been trespassing for years but let it go cause he didn't hunt, but now he's telling people the land is his and inviting people to hunt it. Land isn't posted but I think it will be now. 24. Well just got back last night from a 5 day fishing trip on the salmon river up in Pulaski. For any of you that know the river, know it's a wonderful fishery and can always find something to catch. This year the salmon run has been pretty poor, like the last few years. There were more salmon in the river than the last 3 years combined, but they just didn't want to run. Still fishing was alright and hanging out with the same guys year after year is always great! Sunday was probably my best day on 3 years with about 40 hook ups, and most of those came with an hour. I'll post a few of the salmon and one nice big steelhead that I got. Some of the pics may look like duplicates but I promise they are with different fish. All were released except for the 2 coho and one steelhead I got. All in all it was a good trip no matter how poor the actual fishing was majority of the time. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
