  1. I have and will continue to hunt deer with a decoy. I shot my first deer with a bow over a decoy actually. Key things to remember, if a doe decoy put it facing away from you and if a buck put it facing towards you. Make sure its in a more open area about 15-20 yards in front of you. Try to spray it down with scent free spray to get all of your scent off of it. It will spook some deer and draw others in...just like turkey decoys.
  2. Puma...just kidding its definitely a bear.
  3. I havent heard anything bad, but I hear hitting a moose is one of the worst animals to hit.
  4. It was only a matter of time before it got hit.
  5. This was the whole point of this thread. To give information and help people make an informed decision on weather or not they want to try lead free bullets. Obviously copper can have some disadvantages just like lead does. I respect the fact that you are willing to try it!
  6. This is a perfect video of what not to do! People have trouble hitting a deer with a rifle let alone a bow.
  7. They look really good, but no way im paying 5k for that
  8. No offence but I never had an issue reading and understanding what the DEC has written. Did your hunter ed teachers go through this stuff when you took it? Id be surprised if they didn't go over some of these basic things...mine did anyway.
  9. Yes the wmu only comes into play when talking about DMP's. You can hunt anywhere with an either sex and regular season buck tag.
  10. Nice! Looks like a beautiful rifle. I'm thinking of getting one myself
  11. Congrats antler!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. As much of a proponent as I am for the use of non lead, there is no way I could support a law that would ban the use of lead bullets. I am 100 percent with rattler on this. I made the choice to spend the extra money because I felt it was worth it. I hunt with a rifle maybe 4 times a year so I don't mind using a 2 dollar bullet because I'm using maybe 1 or 2 a year and a few for sighting in. It's not an easy thing to go completely lead free...especially in NY where we can't ship ammo to our doors. I don't knock anyone for using lead at all. I personally think that lead free is better for the environment and suggest everyone try it for a season. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. They're actually 22 mag, I don't have a 22 lr. To get it I had to order it and send it to cabelas in PA and drove down to get it. Although I have heard cci came out with copper 22lr. That nonlead.org is doing some serious testing on it.
  14. I do. My turkey shells are hevi-shot and I also use steel for anything else. Even my .22 bullets are lead free. Im paying more for it, but id rather pay more for a few rounds and have safer meat for the family. Its definitely not easy to do it this way to be honest, but worth it in my eyes.
  15. Probably depends where you are. Where I hunt its loaded with acorns so if its a bumper year the deer movement is very low, but on the low years it can be easy to get one.
  16. Glad you found out! Had that happen on my grandparents land. They found the plants, went home to call the cops about it...by the time the cops got there (maybe 2 hours later) all the plants were gone.
  17. Got new broad heads and replaced the blades on old broadheads, but that's about it from what i can remember. I have a treestand I never put together so maybe ill assemble it and put it in the woods.
  18. Ive heard of people doing it. From what I hear it works well.
  19. If you eat the blue's fresh they have a good consistency, but once they hang around in the freezer too long they get mushy. I don't even bother keeping anything over a couple pounds when it comes to blue's.
  20. Looks like a great time and looks like you have some great eats ahead of you!
  21. Id poop a cinder block if that on my cam. Good luck this season!!
  22. I was in the first grade at the time. I remember being let out early from school, but not knowing why. My school was actually maybe 20 min from Manhattan and my father watched the second plane hit from the hospital. He came home really late that day because his hospital was expecting a large amount of wounded to come through, but that never happened. For the next couple weeks I had family coming from every night to watch the news reports and the footage. I also remember walking by the teachers lounge and seeing the footage on constant repeat for a month after the attack. Back then I couldn't fully grasp what had happened even though I understood everything.
  23. Uh no I didn't even see there was a second page for some reason Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
