I forgot to say that when it comes to bucks I can get pretty picky with them. Im more than happy with going with out harvesting a buck so I let almost all of the bucks i see go because they don't have what Im looking for. My goal is to only harvest mature bucks, but ill shot a 2 1/2 year old if he's got something going on. Although pretty much any doe that walks in front of me is in trouble as long as I have a tag and want to take one...that includes fawns as well. Couldn't care less if people don't like it...that means more fawns for me haha.

For 50 bucks I may just go that route. I prefer to build one, but if my design thoughts not practical Ill definitely go that route.

Maybe they focus on acorns this time a year to help with putting on weight for the winter.

Who here has ever built a smoker before? Im thinking about building a small smoker (just big enough to smoke a couple deer hams and shoulders) to smoke a deer this year. Last year the landowner of the property I shot my buck on asked for one of the legs to smoke and when he gave me a few pieces to try I fell in love with it. I always loved smoked meat and my father always smoked a calf each year growing up, but for some reason we never thought about building one ourselves. The landowner is always smoking sausage each year, but I always felt it was too much to ask since he already is kind enough to let us hunt his land for so many years. One of the things I want to do is try and make it so I can take it down when I'm done smoking the meat. Im thinking of using bolts in some critical spots to break it up into 4 or 5 pieces. Maybe im crazy and im asking for too much, but anyone think its possible?

I have and will shoot one any day as long as I have a tag for it and haven't gotten a deer already. I got a doe this year already so I don't have any pressure to fill the freezer. At this point fawns will probably get a pass this year, unless im hunting on LI.

Holy moly! Think id poop a brick if I saw that in the stand. Love the intro by the way.

After 2 weeks it doesnt look like hes been back since that day. I had a feeling he was a good guy and he's certainly proving it to me for sure! Now i have to deal with a trespasser at another property I hunt. I almost don't want to tell the landowner about the guy trespassing because I know he's going to say some things that probably should be said on this forum. Although this guy is riding around the woods with a rifle during bow season, messing with my trail cams and complaining about trespassers at the same time. Guy must be a serious multitasker.

Im pretty sure he literally says those same things right after that sentence...like right after.

Sheep on the Trailcam, a definite first time ever

You have any tags for it? -
No new scrapes and some new rubs, but thats it. It should be kicking off soon hopefully.

I believe mine is fine. I got a notification you like a post of mine, but if you look at the post its not there.

Dude you won't make too many friends here with that attitude. We pride ourselves with not giving any one crap for a legally harvested deer! Until you start inviting people over to your land and start buying peoples licenses for them, I don't think you have the right to tell someone what they should be shooting. Also this deer is legal to shoot in an AR zone by anyone with a DMP. As long as its "legally" a doe it can be shot.

Well just got back from the woods and its been an interesting day. My day started off with a spotting 2 fawns and an albino doe right in front of the landowners house. Got to the stand and sliced my pinky on my broadhead and I must have hit a superficial vein cause i had blood all over the place. Well I didn't want to bloody my phone so i decided to check out my trail cam pics...found out the neighbor is trespassing here as well and decided to check out my trail cams and delete a bunch of pics. I was getting deer pics every day on that cam and then once he comes through nothing for a month. Also caught him with a rifle during the youth hunt and no kid in sight anywhere. This is the same guy who drove to my stand from his house just to complain about people trespassing on land that's not his anyway. I guess you can't fix stupid right? Ill be knocking on his door since not only did he trespass, he was hunting with a rifle during bow season, he deleted pics from two cams and rotated one cams position by 90 degrees. Although I did get pics of 2 decent bucks from one of those cams after he messed with it. One of them has a double main beam and some real junk. Sorry for the long post.

Happy Bday WNY! Hope you have a great one!

Id love to do an DIY elk hunt or a DIY whitetail hunt to OH or MT. Something that i know may never happen is a float moose hunt up in Alaska, but I do plan on going salmon fishing up there.

Ive seen young bucks stay with a group of does and fawns right up to the rut peak of the rut. He wasn't really bothering any of them so i guess they didn't feel the need to run away from him.

The ferrule is pretty identical to the spitfires. The physics behind them is pretty solid too. The one thing I liked about rages was that they hyper-extended on the entrance and you ended up getting a larger cut than advertised. Other than that, the killzones are solid heads and so far im impressed.

My initials and then buckhunter. Made it on my first forum that i joined and have used it on every other forum ive been a part of.

Well if you hunted with a bow you'd have access to a lot of land in suffolk county. If you have a shotgun then you can hunt the shotgun season in LI that starts in January. Try looking into the catskill area. Thousands upon thousands of acres of state land up there and some of it doesn't get hunted much. You can definitely find some low pressure areas up there.

They are solid heads! The blades come sharp and smooth unlike the rage heads which are crudely sharpened and rough. Don't get me wrong they're still sharp, but not as tough in my opinion. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Nice! Hopefully you get a shot at him. Good thing is you'll get to hunt the rut now.

I used to bring a shotgun along, but the guy that owns the place where I rifle hunt has a few guns for me to borrow just in case something happens that can't be corrected by me.
