Sportsmen Strongly Support Yearling Buck Protection in NYSDEC Deer Plan
Geno C replied to TheHunter's topic in Deer Hunting
Flawed and biased to you perhaps... Yes, to me and many other hunters also. And on the other side of the coin, the majority side according to every survey done that I've seen, support is there for AR. john and yet no body ever sees these polls actually take place. we just read about it. so where are these surveys even coming from? thats what i would like to know... -

I'm for it, and I do not believe its "propaganda". Lack hunting skills? Nice... I've seen huge improvements in the buck size and action in my area, 3H. I'm far from a horn hunter, but its great seeing some larger racks running around, where a few years ago that really was not the case. I have not taken a buck in many years, mostly by choice. Last year after taking a doe we were at the local butcher, ED Grund in Cochecton. Ed said not only are the antlered deer being harvested have larger racks, but he deer themselves have been quite larger. To the point where the boxes he'd normally use to pack up the customers meat are now a few sizes larger. John, I agree and hunt not far from you in Fremont center. Our area has a few clubs and we don't shoot does, and small bucks. We have been doing this for many years now and it hasn't helped. May be the antler restriction law will make a difference, I hope anyway. But if the locals shoot the deer when we aren't there will this really help? That can be the only reason there's no mature bucks in our area they are shot by the local who don't follow the rules.Dave why would you NOT shoot does?? that doesnt make any sense to me... -
to each is own... i actually took my 8 point last year 2 days after opening of gun on a planned stalk where the wind was in my favor to pull it off in my area, my first real stalk and i was in and out of the woods in 30 min with an 8 point who was coming straight at me with the wind. Prob one of the most exciting hunts i have ever had. My plan came together, it doesnt always happen but when it does its great! i might be doing alittle more stalking in the years to come.

interesting? yes, exciting? no... think about how it is when you have a guy walk up on you while your on post. now take every hunter and have them walking around? thats remedy for disaster.. lol think about it a bunch of hunters looking for movement to shoot at? theres enough accidents a field now a days.

yeah lol you have to roll the car away from the house then start it... lol jk
-
John since you brought the car up, here is a video from the other day... I was trying out the Anti Lag for the turbo. I build 22lbs of boost from a dead stop lol never launched it tho..
-
oh nice yeah heard there are alot of hicks over there...
-
LOl, they are her pets...
-
you should have went with the loud opener so in a few years when the little guy decides to roll the mustang out of the garage and start it up down the block you can hear him! lol
-
I hear you. I haven't shot since April. feels like forever right lol are you in Nassau?
-
oh and also, do we really own anything we pay for? there seems to be a tax or fee for everything we own and if not paid you either cant use it or its taken from you...

ive come home plenty of years with tags unpunched... its the thrill of the hunt, killing a deer is icing on the cake... enjoying youself in the woods is par for the coarse, like others siad killing one is a bonus. i enjoy every moment in the woods and i am never ashamed to say i did not get anything. this is the sport and this is why i love it.

i would do it, goodluck helping the land owner out. Just make sure he keeps to his end and doesnt let other guys in there for a fre for all, that would suck! you are doiing the right thing by helping the guy out

So when the wind is howling and the cold....

nice, good luck with building it -
each hunter will have his own view on hunting, thats whats to be expected... There are various options when it comes to hunting and most is just that, "Hunting". i do not believe you have to stalk game to be qualified as hunting. i dont think hunting over bait is considered hunting per say but then again if you have an area where multiple guys are baiting whos to say you will even see anything over that bait pile? anyways, i wouldnt limit those who are ambush hunting and say its not really hunting. Although im sure Joe gets a kick out of what hes does and how he does his hunting, its just not realistic to those who dont have access to large tracks of land to do so.

im good for anywhere, im dieing to take the bow out. I havnt shot since january, so much going on otherwise id be shooting a few times a week by now

its crazy that the deer has it cut so clean almost at the shoulder, is it possible that it can be a birth defect??
