  1. i have found others wounded deer that way, it works...
  2. you said what i was thinking steve...
  3. Its sad to see so many lost deer threads considering it is the first weekend of bow. It is a reality that these things do happen however there are tactics a hunter can do to limit this. I think the biggest thing here, is the deer are not given the time to expire (bleed out). Seems like some are quick to peruse the deer and that only leads to the deer running off and being pushed around. your margin for loss becomes greater when those deer are not given enough time. If the shot is that questionable or one does not see the deer go down in a site then it should be left alone. for more then "30 minutes". i know i am not the only one that has been seeing these lost deer threads. its simply crazy... theres more non recover stories right now then deer recovered...
  4. i hear what your saying steve, however this was not during gun season it was indeed bow and all hunters are issued an either or correct? i think it does raise a good point tho, in which what case would be the legal during gun season and what one would do.
  5. the tools avail;able to all of us is practice your shots prior to bow season, make sure your bow is tip top and give your animal time to bleed out. its not that hard... WAAAAYYYYY tomany thread right now on , "sad day> " im bumming" all these other threads going around on how hunters are not recovering there game is way beyond me. the first one, ok... they second 3rd 4th and so on i mean c mon... if the shot isnt good dont take it and if it was taken, sit your ass in your stand and wait!! this is crazy how many lost deer the first weekend of bow??? c mon... i know these things can happen but there are things that we can do to minimize that or even capitalize on a botch shot on the hunters behalf.
  6. been seing a good amount of rubs, not scrapes just yet...
  7. +1 you should have burned your tag on her. DEC may have been able to do something for you. however you walk away with a deer in need of getting put out her misery?? you can not put a price tag on that and i do not agree with hunters who fail to do whats right....
  8. these situations are never fun... i wish you luck on your recovery. sad that we keep seeing more and more of these threads and the season just started. i think aside form the shot i think the #1 reason for these no recoveries are due to hunters not giving the animal time to expire. ive seen plenty who are so eager to get out of there stand and push this wounded deer around and never make the recover. i am not insisting you did so but i bet some did tho...
  9. also, what was he shot angle? qaut too, qaut away? do you know where the arrow hit? high and back, possibly back? these are all things to take into account and help in the retreival process...
  10. the deer could have weezed out of distress or a warning to other deer. i would have given the deer more then 30 minutes assuming the hunter did not know the degree of the hit and also did not see the deer go down or give sign of a stumble. its better you let him lay over night, its cool enough to not worry much about the meat. yotes are a different story, get in the in the morn and seach for blood, exhaust everyu avenue you can to do so. i hope you make the revover on your deer and i also hope the deer is not found by the yotes. goodluck to you!
  11. nice burt! saw a few of those today!

  15. just hung one of the best sets with a buddy of mine, one of those spots thats has unbleievale amoutn of travel, dropping and runs! cant wait to let this sport cool and get in there soon! trail cam rolling, we'll see what we get
  16. send it over to rich at FINS TO FEATHERS i dont know the guy who shot it, i just received a text from my buddy. otherwise i would
  17. it is funny right? i see the same thing, makes me lough... but to others its second nature, its what they do. they prob wont hit the range before they get out in the woods. they will pull back on a deer and wound it. its sad that some people cant find the time in there lives to put forth the much needed effort it takes to deer hunt. for them and the deer..
