Good luck searching sound like a fatal hit, hope he is as big as your first bow buck did you get that beast aged?
-
You think like me, I hope I get him .. but would be just as happy knowing he made it one more year..
-
Are you going to kill that buck or just take pictures of it all season. seems like he is on a leash..

i gave up on the gimmicks a long time ago they all suck! and cost you $ double suck!!! i use sent free body soap and smoke my gear. all my neighbors are wood burners i can smell it when im in the woods other things i do i always snap off a fresh twig from the eastern white pine tree in my yard and put it in my pocket . when i get in my stand i snap it into pieces releasing that fresh pine sent much like the rubs on the pine trees near me. i almost always find fresh deer pellets omw to the stand i step on them and rub them into my boots side and bottom. http://www.grandviewoutdoors.com/big-game-hunting/why-deer-hunters-should-take-smoke-baths/ my mature deer sighting and harvest are consistent in very high pressured area. and i can only attribute that to tossing all gimmick sent drip/drag/spray crap right in the garbage.. and the best sent tip of all time - hunt low pressure urban areas where there is a high number of does and mature bucks during the rut .. they could care less what you are wearing or what it smells like.

How much land do you think you need to hunt .

i happen to have some good advice, buy the 5 acres that borders the 100 acre sanctuary.. dont be the stupid- idiot -moron that buys the sanctuary pays 9k a year in property taxes , plant food plots , work year round to make it a habitat paradise, chase trespassers around, losses sleep all season, gets bitter when the guy next door puts in 0 effort pays 1k a year in taxes and shoots the buck that walked out of the bedding area you made in july when it was 90F.. just trust me.. look for a county/state park that has hunting safty zones and buy a small chunk next to that .. i know a guy that owns 3 acres that borders village property. he shoots deer that make you think he was hunting on a 500 acre ranch in iowa ... location location location!!! -

Sorry we are not looking for more NY hunters ... try PA -
yes i agree i know of a guy that got into border wars with guy on his property it got heated and fist were flying he beat the crap out of the guy then pointed the gun at him and told him to leave.. the property owner won the fight on his land .few hours later the DEC and sheriff showed up and arrested him. he admitted everything thinking he was right to defend his property WRONG!! not in NY . he got charged with felony assault and a few other charges.. it cost him big time and im sure the dirt bag trespasser probably thought it was hilarious. anyway back to fasteddys OP .. the mama boy picture kills me still !! that is classic !
-
i too find myself hunting hunters... and trespassers try to pattern you not the deer
-
LEG you are being to nice to these guys, i'm willing to fight to my death to protect my property all year 0 tolerance for any trespasser - anytime - all year! i had a guy come to my house shaking almost in tears and apologizing because he got lost and walked in front of one my trail cameras i told him because of his honesty i wont have him arrested... then i pulled out my shotgun and shot his truck and told him to get the F off my porch.. that was back in July haven't seen him since.. ok i made that up... but unfortunately you have to be a jerk and have people ticketed any chance you get or they will never fear you with no consequences of being caught. 2 of the dirt bags i had arrested got a slew of other tickets to go along with the trespassing ticket

BuckThornBooners replied to CharlieNY's topic in CrossBow Hunting
just picked up a new one up from the wal-mart for $149.99 cant wait to toss some darts at deer. out scouting now with my cousin billy bob -
i thought the guy looked familiar ! after enlarging the picture it was a dead give away.. right under the my mama says i'm special you can clearly see the link to his web site..
-
i could indefinitely pass those two.. but 130" are ripe for harvest IMO. but i also have the worst poaching rebel neighbors in the state. my neighbor would put his sons tag on the first one his wifes tag on the second one then tag the 130" with his own.

its perfect weather why rush and risk it even if its a great hit... go get some brunch and re group in a few hrs worst thing you can do is chase a live deer.. if hes dead he will still be there when you get back
-
You don't have to worry about me pushing you a deer that's 498 hunters more then I like to hunt with. like I said no doubt there is deer there and I'm glad you have the skills to get them and get them out I'm very proud of your achievements. but I would say DanielT and genesseMo have far more realistic views. but hey go get that state record don't let me ruin your dreams. Honestly best of luck.

I know plenty of nice bucks taken around the area but you are leading people astray with your exaggeration of untouched state recorded deer the truth is thier is more hunters per square mile in that park then any private land within 100miles. is there good deer population in that area yes but it is far from what you build it up to be. just the fact that you so quickly associated yourself I with a fake buck should really give people an idea of your exaggeration skills. I know there is some nice bucks there not arguing that but to be fair that goes for every part of wny. but the idea that it's some magical untouched trophy park would be a huge disillusion. The idea is the more guys that hunt it with out knowlage push deer right to the veteran hunters like yourself so I can see why you would want to advertise how amazing it is. now the fishing on the other hand, I have caught smallmouth down there the size of grouper state record fish no doubt.. no one fishes way down there.. so they usually just die of old age:)

Geez dude you have a museum. I would think 10x12 is not going to cut it down the road. I'm sure your kids won't mind dead cats looking at them from above the crib

Man you ask all the pressing questions! I have seen guys shoot 80lb fawns thought the hams with a shotgun. I have had shots fired over my back at a running 4pt. I had to hug my buddy behind the rim of my truck one day because guys were shooting at a doe bouncing towards us. I was In my stand one day about 100yd from a road and a small buck ran across the road in front of a car. The buck was headed my direction and the guy opened fire from the road while I'm yelling and screaming hoping he hears or sees me. So to answer the question it would be NO my first reaction would be to take cover because God knows what the hell would happen if someone else seen it. It is a very lethal shoot. But I would pass and hope for a better shot I have been in this situation with a 140 class buck witch to me would be equivalent to a 220" I was so 95% sure I could have killed it .. I regrettably passed

I missed my time entry last Friday for the whole week. I just had to explain to my boss that all I can think about is deer..
