So my buddy got a Danndy ten and it has 2 broken tines G2 G3 both broke low. He talked to the taxidermist and he said it's no problem to fix them make it look like a perfect 10 agian. In my opinion it's not an option for me. It's just not the same deer you killed. I understand not wanting to mount a busted buck. But you mite as well add a few extra points if your going to get the bondo out to fix the rack..make it a 12. Add a drop tine Who here has done it? And why?

i like to challenge myself with older deer.... but i would not hesitate to shoot a 130'1.5 year old if they existed i really have a fascination with larger racks. i use to measure success by tags filled regardless of size obviously a big buck was always the main objective after about my 50th deer and wall full of scrub racks. i realized this way of hunting wasint sustainable for my area an if i wanted bigger bucks and quality hunting i had to let the small ones walk and give them a chance to grow. it took years for me and my crew to realize we were the reason deer were becoming scarce .. it was as if we loved hunting them so much we almost exterminated them when the DEC gives you 5-7 tags and you hunt with 5 buddys that are killers(not wally'os) it sure beat the hell out of the deer herd.. now i get more enjoyment out of chasing the biggest deer on the property and not settling for less and right now its a 3.5 mid 120s 8pt. not a monster by most standards but he is the biggest one i have at the moment if i see one bigger i will hold out for the bigger one. .. i want the best deer my area can produce anything else i would not be satisfied with taking its life.. i believe every deer is a trophy to someone i remember a small six point got me so exited i about myself.

First heavy frost of Nov gets my blood pumping I have seen border line gang rape happen in the wood that first week of November. Bucks running around with tongs hanging out and not a care on the world. NOV 6 I will be 25' over my water hole from sun up till dark. I don't even start to see scrapes till late Oct It seem every area is different

Good read!!! Deer Management: An 8 pointer, 4 pointer and a button buck are standing by a field browsing on acorns. The 8 pointer says, 'I'm happy with my 10 does, we're really getting along.' The 4 pointer says, 'I'm happy as heck with my 5, they really take care of me!' The Button buck says, 'My two are all right, better than nothing I guess.' Then all of a sudden a GIANT 14 pointer walks out into the field. The three bucks had never seen anything like him before, they were in awe. The big buck made a huge scrape and pissed in it, rubbed a tree the size of a telephone pole and snapped it off at the ground! The three bucks looked on in amazement. The 8 pointer says, 'I could probably get by with 4 does........... Who really needs 10 anyway?' The 4 pointer says, 'You know.............. come to think of it, I only really use one or two of mine!' The button buck was silent, as the other two bucks look over to him in confusion. Suddenly the Button buck runs out into the middle of the field! He rips and tears up some grass........ pisses all over the place, snorts & wheezes, rubs his head raw on a tree, and chews a lickin branch clean off! Then he runs back over to his buddies. His friends immediately ask him, 'What the hell are you doing!?' I'm just makin' sure that he knows I'm a buck!'

I have no problem with shooting 40 and 50 at my target but have always been very conservative in the woods and it has cost me some P&Ys. I know plenty of guys that have deer on the wall that I wouldint because they took the chance. I had a absolute stud at 45 broad side that I let walk hoping to get a 30yd. two days later a guy down the road took a hell Mary 60yd shot and spined him on his second shot. He has the deer. I don't!! "Can't get them if you don't shoot and mature deer very rarly offer second chances. So let the arrows fly if you don't shoot you have a 0% chance of putting that deer on the wall if you miss at least you tried, if you hit it you have a good chance at finding it. If you wound it big deal you will probably never see it again anyways. " I think he's right? would you get another chance on a deer that's 4.5 - 6.5 probably not... not in my area anyways.. on Lee and Tiffany ranch probably . so I kind of see why it would be worth the risk on a mature deer. Right phade? I mean do you think you would have that deer on the wall if you didn't take the shot that day? It would be just another story of the one that got away most likely.

Red clover is my favorite! I just hit my clover plot with some 0-20-20 to give it a boost before the opener. Ill have a harder time keeping deer out of my plot than weeds.

I use select hebicide. I know it's nasty stuff but I figured if the farmer on the other side of the fence sprays his 60 acre alphalfa field with it would be senseless for me to not use it on my 1/2. Plot I use arrest and slay and have great results but really mowing and 0-20-20 fertilizer really does a pretty good job. If weeds are taking over its probably because your clover is not healthy enough to out grow the competition.

Sounds like the "free lunchers" are not going to be happy until they get steak.

I checked my camera and didn't really have anything worth sharing. normal for my place this time of year. But since Iv already been establish as "low class" I though I would share this instead of the 60" 8pt that seems to have my place on lock down

I watched a guy leave Henrietta gander today with a cart full of deer corn and candy blocks .. I'm sure he was on his way to Ohio.. they should sell real fireworks year round in NY and just make them illegal to use.
