Some kind of Funky Buddha, the waitress did not know which one, said “ it’s a regular Funky Buddha “. No such thing.... been interesting down here .
  2. Batoning threads on knife forums go on and on ,and can get a bit heated . For me I like to tote a strong fixed blade myself , I do have a nice light hatchet but I don’t always tote that . The fixed blade is a compromise, can do knife and hatched duties , neither as well as single purpose tool , but works well for me . If im camping out of a car or canoe sure I’ll have an assortment of edge tools, a walk in the woods, my fixed blade. I posted at the end of the season ,my last stand to take down, forget it was locked ,no keys . I found an old farm implement in the woods and picked up a chunk of steel and beat on the back of my knife ( batoning ) with it till the cable around the tree was severed . No damage to knife . ive dug out roots with it that interfered with placement of ladderstands ,I’ve , just found it nice to have a strong beater in the woods .
  3. Random thoughts , this is one of the politest forums I’m a member of . Everyone ive met has been a good person . Made some good friends . Ive had offers of help from getting deer out, to building a bridge across drainage ditches from members . Bought and sold things here from stands to furniture all smooth deals . Sent members gifts and received some as well . Ive just can’t wrap my head around the few who think “ bad things would happen” at a met and greet . Perhaps that’s a reflection upon them more then us ?
  4. Loved that movie . https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0236493/videoplayer/vi4059037977?ref_=tt_pv_vi_aiv_1
  5. 1095 or 5160 . Durable and easy to sharpen are somewhat polar opposites. D2 is very long lasting edge wise but harder to sharpen . You generally can get one or the other . Personaly VG 10 is one of my favorites. It was designed for botanists to graft plants with , as other Steels were crushing the cells ,vg10 is very fine grain . Look at Ontario knives , their Rat series as well as Spec plus . I beat the crap out of my Spec plus . Ive handled only one SRK, it as was to thick for my tastes , and I own three Striders .... Make sure you handle one first

Wow ! Haven’t found a place like that yet . Perhaps a good thing everything is a bit of a drive for us .
  10. From what I’ve just read part of my problem may be my wheel is about an inch wide, apparently narrower wheels like 1/4 inch will collapse before grabbing .
  11. I still get a little nervous, or at least very aware when using mine . Every so often I tip the blade a little to much , push the spine a little to deep and it grabs and pulls . That’s not a good feeling . I much prefer doing knives with large handles so I can get a better grip . The safe zone is 3:00 to 5:00 with the wheel spinning down . I have a hard time not trying to push that small area .
  12. I have a buffing wheel mounted on an old washing machine motor . The thing to know is knife makers consider it the most dangerous item in their shop . https://www.bladesmithsforum.com/index.php?/topic/30573-buffers-the-most-dangerous-tool-in-the-shop-sadly-proven/

Made a grocery run, picked this up. Easy drinker at 5.5 having one as I grill some Fla Italian sausages....

Just got back from three hours at the “ dog “ beach , had to rehydrate, and this was all we had in the house . Btw dog beaches have a nice advantage in that women in bikinis have to bend over to pet your dog !
  15. The only ones my beagle found were attached to recently killed bucks ! I wouldn’t want to use him for sheds, to ME that’s like another guy finding them.

Shop down the road ,had a sampler 6 for like $25 . I’m cutting back but needed to relax a bit tonight .
  17. Got some marinated pork chops on the charcoal grill, had to put on a long sleeve shirt as it’s down to 70 ! The ice in my gin and tonic is holding up though .
  18. Enjoy. We’ve been pretty busy here, our location is not optional, been driving 2-3 hours a day ,depending on which beach, and getting taking guests to airports . Your weather should be very good .

The only place I’ve seen Cigar City is in the liquor stores, not once in a bar ,restaurant or grocery store. Goose was a nice surprise, usually Stella and yuengling are their flagship beers .... It was shocking walking down the beer isle in the store.

Wegmans should have it, they do in Webster . Also our local grocer Hegedrons, carry’s it . Fla sucks for beer, the grocery stores carry Bud and Coors, plus their lite ones, Stella and Yuengling . Same for most restaurants, with an occasional local beer. Last night where we ate that had Goose Island IPA . The liquor stores carry some decent beers , just not as convenient.
