  1. Lol well I appreciate the feedback from everyone. And I agree, I have spent 17 years learning the "trade" and I am only 24. And I still have so much to learn. I just hope these guys that come up and share the woods with us locals take some time to at least read up and learn a few things themselves, instead of going in it with the "brown down" mentallity, and kill everything they see just to say they got one... And yes I have seen some people up here that you wouldn't catch me dead in the woods with.
  2. My uncle's buddy shot this guy behind the house opening morning about 60 yards from where I sat! Awesome having a big buck that we have been watching down!
  3. You can walk into a local place and talk to these people. There are usually more of them than there are of your usual regulars. I live in a town with a population of roughly 1400. Theyre actually fairly easy to spot parked all over the sides of the roads bordering state land. Keep in mind I'm not here to argue. Just stating my opinion.
  4. And again, I am in no way trying to insult the ones that come up and do it right and love hunting for what it is. But I think you make up maybe 10% of all that come up here to hunt.
  5. Not to disrespect any hardcore, diehard hunters from the city.. But I have to say I hate being from up-state NY and have all these city hunters come up here turning the woods into a damn war zone. If your goal is to come up here and blast anything that moves you're wrong. And if it takes you 5 shells to get it done then quite frankly you shouldnt be in the woods. It's sad when you don't even want to go out and hunt in fear of some guy blasting at you through the brush. I dont even want to step on the state land that borders our 50+ acres. Anyone else feel the same??
  6. Hahaha that's messed up. I don't think I would go out of my way to do it... mainly because it sounds like it would take a bit of work. But hey man, I hope it works out for you! LOL
  7. I love the Rage 2 blades. Also just have the O ring. They hit dead nuts and open up a huge hole.
  8. The weather for chenango county looks PRIME this upcoming weekend after the storm. Dropping down into the 30's in 7m. Supposed to be clear, crisp and cold. I plan on hitting it hard this weekend.
  9. The bucks are just flowing in now! Nice deer guys. Hopefully I will be posting a nice buck soon
  10. Well with the way the weather looks this weekend I am guessing after. Nights dropping down in the 30's. Should make for some clear, crisp hunting hours. I'm stoked for this weekend!
  11. You have a good grouping which means your pin is steady on the same spot every time. Meaning that if it is hitting high right you probably have to dial in your bow so your hitting middle every time. As for ready for hunting, it's a whole lot different than shooting a target. You might be drawn up on a deer for a minute and a half without a shot. I would hit up some 3-d target shoots for sure.
  12. I think I will go with the Redfield Revenge in 3-9x42. Looks pretty nice. Thanks guys
  13. I'm just hoping that cold front hits it head on and dumps some snow on us! sopposed to be nice and cold next weekend (at least over night). I guess we will see what happens.
  14. Hey guys. I have a nice remington 700 30-06 that I would like to put a scope on that will handle the recoil but won't run me much past 200 bucks. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
  15. I'll be out in 30 mph winds! Just to say I did it!.... Swaying back and forth in a tree!
  16. I'm guessing he called them "dogs" because they have four legs and look like a "dog". I don't see the problem with someone refering to a "coyote", "fox", "wolf" or a "house dog" for that matter, as a dog. Just my opinion... But as for the deer movement, I did the same thing when I got excited seeing a few nice bucks on cam in the preseason. Started off with a ton of sign so I stuck the cam in. Turns out I checked it way too often and now they pretty much avoid that area at all cost. Havent hunted it since the beginning of the season actually.
  17. Yes I do think that I learned to be a bit more patient for the next one that comes along. I heard it smack when it hit her and I thought I may have hit the shoulder so I was a little worried. But thanks for the advise guys. Nothing wrong with a little constructive criticism.
  18. Ok so first... Don't hate on the gut job lol. We cut them down the ribs to drain better. And second... Don't hate on the shot. (lol again). 30 yard shot slipped in front of her shouler as she was quartering toward me. Hammered her with the Rage 2 blades, slung from the PSE Dream Season which opened her up damn good. Got lung and almost came out the other side mid way down her body. found 8 inches of my arrow broken off. She went 60 yards and fell down about 5 times before she piled up.
  19. Well I am using them this year and I HAMMERED a doe with one this past weekend. My bow is a PSE Dream Season set at 60# and had no trouble at all. She was quartered toward me and I slipped it right in the crease and it nearly came out the other side half way down her body. Broke a bone in half. Left about a 5 inch slice. Went 60 yards and hit the ground about 5 times before she finally piled up. Can't beat that Rage performance.
  20. I honestly can't see myself spending 250 dollars on a jacket just because it says sent lock on it. Im going to pull an arrow knocker and pick up some woolies.
  21. Not saying I do this.. Or meaning to get off topic but is it illegal to use for trail camera purposes? I remember reading that attractants can be used as long as it is gone within 10 days of the season? So maybe that was their intention, Nature Girl.
  22. It's your deer. Hang it how you want.
  23. This BRUISER was seen by my buddy who was hunting one of our multiple stands out back of my house. I have some other posts on here with trail cam pics and my encounter with the ghost buck while moving a stand. He cam in at 60 yards and was standing on the high lines for 14 minutes feeding. He caught wind of something down the ridge and hopped back in from where he came. Needless to say my buddy was pretty bummed. Neither of us have ever taken a deer as big as some of these boys we have seen on this property. And I just started renting this house from a gentleman down in New Jersey this June upon returning from the Marines. What Luck! Many close encounters... Hopefully the next picture I post will be one of him on a tailgate. Thanks for reading and good luck to all!
