The Henrietta one was the worst...don't get me going on one of the gun smith they had a few years ago, or when the bow shop was running, having to duck as the tech shot an arrow through a ceiling tile, Then there was the 40 min waits at the gun counter just to see anyone. Well and if you did see them, good luck prying them away from a casual ha ha tee hee conversations as 3-5 people were waiting to get service. Oh excuse me do you carry- - -? " I don't know, lets go check....no I guess not sorry" If I had a buck for every " I don't know" to a simple question, I could have 30 cams running on our place...

Ok...I think I have a young buck here that's totally off his nut...I went to Rivers blind, get the decoys out, then set them up in the lane way past the end of the wire fence. Also in front of a walk through in the brush pile fence. Climb back up the ladder to the blind and settle in...10 mins later a deer starts snorting wildly in the neighbors swamp..I'm think great! Him and his tractor on later morning hunts here and now someones coming in to hunt right in front of me..This deer just went crazy for 15 mins..I wait until it's 6:30 before calling. I never saw nor heard a bird this morning. No one else was in the woods either. Though hens were on the cams at yesterdays spot.. What I did see was a young buck with 6" spikes already, yes at least 6" in the neighbors swamp near a huge old downed maple trunk. He was kicking and bucking dashing here and there. Throwing his head back and in general acting completely NUTS! Then Here's the real crazy part...I see a tree shaking violently and being yanked up and down...It was a cherry tree...OMG he was standing there gobbling up cherry leafs. Now just in case you do not know They are poisonous to ruminants, deer know not to eat them...usually...He then started pawing the ground in between bronco jumps and lunges...he dug up a spot so big I stopped glassing him and could still see the spot/hole from 74 yrds away. Then he showed up at the end of my lane way and ran like his tail was on fire towards/past me all the way to the road. That's when I got a real good look at those spikes... Have any of you seen this before and what do you guess it might be 1. brain parasite 2. tick virus 3. mosquito virus. 4. birth neurological problems? 5. poisoning Remember 32 degrees and zero bugs out...

Man ours was great!

Well it's being used across the country..and I did mention the ivermectin which has been used on livestock for decades. The point is it's not a deer problem...it's a black footed tick problem.. They need to start addressing that and stop wasting time.

Great minds think alike...lol

They should have reduced inventory and hired professional staff trainers...their customer service sucked better than a hoover...

That decoy was 12 yards from the blind...so much fun! Of course no card in that cam on the tree in front of blind. Wasn't it funny how he approached that decoy squinting his eyes...Makes me think it's caught a wing feather or two to the eyes..lol

Great morning but no Toms lots of deer and some great pics and ...lets see if this works...a video Before anyone asks..yellow is dead grass and weeds I sprayed this a couple of weeks ago...the white cup...lets me know there is a cam there if I have a bird in sight... BTW water in puddles and the wheel barrel had ice covering it this morning it's cold out there! So hens came in at first light, no toms ,about 8a.m. they look to be headed either across to the house side of road or down the hill..I may have spooked a turkey behind me...I don't think crow wings would make that loud a sound taking off...probably the Tom from neighbors above me ,where the hens went yesterday. That would figure...don't care...... it was a great and educational morning. Hens came in from opposite directions and one had to have been at the farmers field first ...she was soaked. The other I know had roosted near by. I heard her and she was bone dry. I know where the deer are coming off the neighbors and where they are walking to go over my ridge. I know that if I want to crow hunt I had best just leave that blind up. they love the clover plots and soon the mulberries will be growing. I can really move around in that blind with them all 10 yrds away and they are clueless This is good practice for deer season..though the adult deer saw the decoys and skirted the area before the hens showed up. Heads up ..I didn't edit it so download will take a bit of time... 20170508_064712.mp4

So go to same spot in the morning where the girls were..or try another spot.Still have a feeling about Rivers blind..haven't done a dawn hunt there yet..neighbor should be sound asleep then..I can get a couple of hours in at least before he hears me and shows up.

Wild turkey Alfredo. The cheese sauce had sauteed garlic, onions, yellow peppers, hot peppers, roasted red peppers, slivered carrots, portabella mushrooms, broccoli flowerrets, diced tomato, diced wild turkey cooked in the sauteed veggies for flavor. This over Rigatoni. Dang that turkey was good!

ADK...The card company is separate so yes it works ......BUT, you no longer get any points. I ordered a second Card for Mr B. on my Cabelas account. as soon as that arrives the Gander gets cut and played off. We do that each month any how,but the cross over stuff.

So I hear there is a new tick disease and it is worse than Lyme and incurable to boot... This got me researching to find the DEC did a studying that ended back k in 2011 on a way to lessen the growth of deer ticks on properties. It was a 4 poster deer feeding station that applied the stuff we spray on our clothes to deer heads and necks...That over a few years ticks were significantly reduced. These could be used spring through late summer to reduce populations. They then declined a town to use this method..Texas is using ivermectin laced corn in their feeders. This kills me... they allow towns to spend thousands to bait and hire sharp shooters to kill deer but won't allowed stations to kill the real problem THE TICKS for nymphs will take their first feed on birds and mice, then the next 2 needed feeds on not just deer! Domestic and livestock animals humans and even raccoons and such. Please tell me ...why do our tax dollars go to studies that show effectiveness if they are going to refuse implications. Then you have the fact that private land owners could use such stations to protect their properties. State lands could have these stations implemented. Even if night time feeding timers were implemented. To limit areas to be used habitually during daylight hours...killing all the deer will not eliminate the ticks..they'll just adjust to a different primary host.

I think I caught all the kindle rewrites...

Well I'm back in...So dark out this a.m. I had to use my lamp just to find the garden..Lol Set out two hen decoys and at 6:15 I see a head pop up in the middle of the lane way headed straight to me...A single miserable looking hen...It poured and snowed the entire morning...she ,to my joy, hung out in the clover plot with crow for a very long time purring and clucking ,then moved off. I did a little calling a nd hear a hen clicking and clucking with some fighting purrs . She comes in and continues her act until she realized the hens weren't interested. She settled down and was joined by a girl friend and they hung out purring yelping and clucking...I was stoked real calling and live decoys then they moved off at different times in different directions. I then hear the first hen yelping up on the neighbors,so I return yelped. We did this for a while when I hear a purr come in from behind me and the side of garden fence. It's the first hen I think hard to tell they all were soaked and pretty scruffy looking....by 8:45 she wondered off and my feet were frozen. Figured with all these hens if a Tom didn't show by now he never would..packed up grabbed cam cards pulled decoys and I'm having coffee...listening to two shots from gully behind our place on neighbors. It was a great morning fun playing with the hens, great practicing moving..I can stand up in my blind with a bird 10 yrds away..had to my butt was screaming " Get me the fudge off this uncomfortable stool!" Ya looks like I have to do a make over on blind stools. They will get a seat made and screwed to frame...easy breezy. PS ..not so much clover, but there were all kinds of worms and grubs just laying on top of the ground everywhere...Looks like the rain did them in to the birds joy..even had some squirrel out there digging around and a skunk on the cams yesterday...easy pickings.
