  1. So much for all the snow...did get a dusting though.
  2. I hope they continue it...What I liked is they take nice buck..but not ridiculous ones. They pass some but not huge ones, they seem to just be regular guys. They don't hide the outfitters nor the fact they go several days without seeing deer or have missed or not so good shots. If these shows can be honest,I think this one is. Now the fact Amazon has a fairly good variety of hunting shows on is great! SHAME on Netflix for their pitifully few and old shows.
  3. I have been hauling ground litter for two weeks on several locations around the property and mot one shed...Which is usual! I could go to camp and find them...but that's a long drive and Ohhhh so steep and swampy ...I haven't checked the swamp here yet though...there it's usually a skull found..
  4. Back to winter tonight, calling for 3-5 inches tonight 1" tomorrow...I can't complain I got so much done and so did Mr B...Drive is completely cleaned up,picnic table, metal roofing for dog house all equipment in the barns now...I got the dogs out side run completely cleaned and loaded with shavings again .....A bunch of woods work..yep been a great 2 weeks of catch up. The end of garden season,hunting,2 major holidays just hammers us on time every year. Last year worse than most . Age ,we slow down as time seems to speed up...lol Slow and steady wins the race...A old person had to have coined that expression. Though I'm not really "old" yet...just slower
  5. I must have read that differently...It sounded like they had their mishap and left..leaving gear behind. This made me think someone saw the incident and not the results, or some one saw the broken Ice ,gear and called it in. Any how, I liked the other news story on there about the Coyotes the size of small German shepherds in Greece NY better.
  6. I cut down not dome trees..lol...and I'm feeling it today! I have been say for a few years now I need to cut this that and the other...just to have bad weather then not time. Well here is the good weather and the time. I did a bunch of saplings under the oaks before they could get any bigger crowding the oaks and causing limb die back in there. I decided that with the camp next to the two farmers fields behind us filling up with hunters,I needed to do some BIG changes. I ran into them in the woods yesterday...their dog came running at me then stopped...a spaniel of some sort. We All froze in our steps, which got a bit strange as the seconds turned into a minute or so. I simply softly said to the dog " That's OK". That's when he decided to call the dog back and disappeared into the gully not saying anything. A bit strange and well not too friendly I thought. Strange because they stayed in the gully to leave,I've been in that gully..it is a mess of rocks and boulders and not at all pleasant to walk in.To each there own I suppose. Anyways they now have stands 70 yards off the line in an area the deer cross to go onto us out of that gully. Them being there has changed movement for they set up right where the wind blows their sent across the area of their property the deer cross to come out of the farm fields to get to us. I need to entice the deer to stay up on the field that is above the gully and feed on to me... I have a small hunting plot at the end of the logging trail next to the upper brush fence...It's always been too shaded to work, but I cut the big ash that leans over it and a bunch of crud maple and ash saplings. The sapling lot, opposite the fence is dying back as well, but has many more big dead ash and maples..I will clean the woods floor but then make a series "dead falls with the bigger trees to bed next to...the ash I dropped, dropped a few other dead trees in their fall, making a great place to lay next to... Well day lights burning so got to run.
  7. I was cruising through my Amazon prime on the fire stick and came across this show...have you guys ever watched it? As far as hunting shows go I can tolerate these guys.
  8. Baked Cesar chicken breasts, spiral butternut sauteed with sweet onion, yellow pepper, roasted red pepper,Apple, garlic and seseme oil, tossed salad and steamed peas.
  9. What a perfect day and did I ever get a lot of saw work done.Cut dome big ones and a bunch of little ones...let the light shine in..worked upper wood and oak flats.
  10. No ,just many years of mowing, then this past two years of actually working it. Discing, York raking rocks, tons of rocks and dragging with the Harrow drag. This was the last area I had to smooth. Took about 10 yrs but I finally got rid of all the plow furrows he left. The farmer deep plowed all this land and then retired...leaving it to revert back..the place was like a wash board from hell...lol
  11. Doc, just open the sling and carry it across your back. I always have a loose sling because I use it as an "army rest" when shooting off hand. Just slip it over my head and no slipping off the shoulder when walking and dragging.
  12. Out West horse back /camp elk hunt. That was a dream hunt.
  13. This weather..in the 50' s this weekend , love it! Hate seeing the buds swelling. Two weeks of relative mild weather, ending in warm Weather, followed by winter next week...Not good for the fruit .
  14. Egg scramble with roasted red pepper, venison sausage and onions. Homefries, zucchini patties, blueberries.
  15. Back in to eat...started raining...Got a lot done and have a bit of change in plans I think...,we'll see...here are the pics of a few brush blinds..I have 12 of these scattered around the place..Only down fall...I have had deer bedded in them when I got to them and strangest thing...many times I have had both deer and turkey poke their heads over the sides to stare at me...Have to laugh...never spooked any of them . This even though I swear they could see me shaking and had to have heard my heart pounding,it was so loud in my own ears....
  16. There not a person alive reading your posts that could ever wonder why you are always out and about in the woods...Nice find....
  17. Well the migraine finally subsided..Wow they are never pleasant! I have another great day to get some work done so will be headed out soon. Here are some pics I took yesterday... 3 different fence lines and then a fenced in bedding area I also hinged trees in. A few brush pile blinds and what I'll be putting on all of them to build them up this winter...you'll see I always have a lot to work with....They are all low right now but will be above my head by mid summer.. Oh 3rd and 4th pics ,what I have cleared and what has to be cleared before turkey season at Rivers blind. I have to run these don't show entire fencing length nor all areas that need clearing..but all are similar..will show the blinds later..Hope it gives you ideas
  18. I went out tried working but Amazon delivered me something I haven't had in a very long time A migraine. I felt it coming on and it hasn't hit it's peak yet...though a good heaving would feel great right now and I'm having a difficult time seeing these keys. That said took some fence, blind and stand pics will post the stands before trying to go sleep this off...took pics of how I do them now and how I use to do them...much more wood involved and more noticeable...but that stand is one I put up 2 years before our son,31 this year, took his first deer in bow at 13yrs old. So around 20yrs old
  19. Well I'm still here...just got done with another 40 min Amazon issue WTH!..They need an IT overhaul.... So there are 2 different types of V tress one being and actual V which is unstable in the wind due to being more vulnerable to wind shear. Then there is the good U type where you have a bit of a saddle of sorts...this is much more stable.. These are the types I use and the ones I will allow to continue growing when thinning timber...They can actually add fair amount of clean board footage. Here is a picture of one such stand I actually have 2 of these I build..one independent and the other as the one I described... Wind has little to no effect on them and these have been in place for years.. This picture shows the independent one...that I strapped and chained to a tree. The support chains for deck go back to the seat back support not the tree it's self... So it actually can be moved...though I won't It's a great spot.the 2 deer in second pic are standing under that stand.
  20. I'm just headed out now to start working. I'll take the camera with me to let you see the compacted fencing I have several hundred yards of it......we are a regrowth from an old farm and all the slashings that have grown up are now dying back...between those and limbs some places are near impossible to walk through with ground clutter. I clean this up each winter to allow easier movement for deer and turkey...especially the turkey...they will avoid an area too difficult too scratch and peck bugs in the leaf litter..The fences have increased our rabbits, hawks, owls and song birds.. I also use it for my ground blinds and to steer the deer to particular places/wind breaks......Helps if I have to drive either ATV in to get a deer as well or cut a down fall up...good off season exercise as well. Post pics later......
  21. You guys noticing all the skunk and raccoon out and about this time of year...holy cow the skunk have torn up my food plots grubbing. They are better than insecticide, considering we have a neighbor with 8 hives pollinating our property now. I have the coons on the cams moving about...all this warm weather...
  22. This country has gone completely freaking crazy..Well Obama you no good dirty so and so..You did it didn't you...May fate and karma systematically destroy you and your families lives, slowly and completely.
  23. Then that's a great deal...Your eating like a king from the looks of it...
  24. I have to say, for as much as I tire of having to make meals...I can not fathom the amount of money some of you spend eating out even on vacation...It's one maybe two "special" dinners and then just give me a chef salad or something simple a quick bite while out and about. I think I could actually go on a weeks vacation with just the money Biz maybe spending on meals during his his...lol It all looks good though and gives me ideas...
