So lots of work equals lots of thinking...I want a couple of more spots near the swamp..but theft is a real possibility. I Have a V maple that will work great right where I want it. I want the least wood possible with most room. So a 2x6 at right height above the spit 4washers and 4 big wood screws to attach to each section of V 2hangers for 2x6 to hold platform. 2 lengths of chain and 4 large eye bolts,2 screw ins for the tree and 2 with nuts and washers. 2x4' s to finish deck frame and to make a bench between V split...I can gather enough scraps of or wood and hangers and chains arent much...4 c links to much attach chains through eye hooks..It won't be able o be stolen, and will cost less than a purchased stand and way bigger than any I could buy.

I believe that with these mild winters we will see more of this in both high and low doe herds..believe it or not..global warming??? All I know is the seasonal weather patterns are changing...not only sending plants off but I believe animals of their regular production times...it's not as simple as day light..everything's connected..later fawns come in at later times. As these fawns drop and those fawn make it due to milder winters and good food....... they will drop late and then come back in late and the cycle will continue

Just talked to UPS guy...mentioned this and he tells me that he stopped near Harriett Hollister during Nov. gun season last year...one of town highway guys stopped to bust his chops and they see a spotted doe cross the road in front of them...He says little late isn't it? knowing it was,he's a big hunter. The town guys says yep seen her several times....I saw two on our place in late Oct.

BTW the fence contains escape routes...openings you cant see but the deer know are there...I do this by leaving an opening and then stepping back a few yARDS AND BUILDING UP ANOTHER SHORT FENCE THAT JUST GOES PAST EITHER(oopppsss, locs) end of the opening ..this gives the deer a way to enter but still blocks the view of unwanted people, but also them seeing me going to stands. One every 30 yards or so. They die and pack down in the winter...depending on species of trees used and I clean up the wood lot and add to each fence each winter/spring -

Yes I do and have posted them on here in the past..but deleted all my pics last year...when I left for a bit...let me see if I still have them and the new ones...funny you ask, I just got done working 3 hrs on one of my old ones. Only the road one is on the line, close to it, blocks the view of the road hunters...The lane way one I'm building is on my side of the lane way plot, which has goat fencing just a couple of feet off the property line..that fence is to block Mr 1acre hunting camps view...he now leans on my fence.he'll never learn!..lol The Old fencing I worked on today is 200yrds long and is in the middle of the upper woods land..It run SW to NE along a lane-way(old logging road) just above the gully...I put it there to assist in my walking undetected to my stands and blinds in that wood lot.. This year I am thinking of planting that road in a mixture of low light grasses..now it's moss...then on the other side is a nice little area that I have cleaned and cleared up that is growing a wonderful wild raspberry plot. I had the young bucks hanging in there this fall. can't find the old ones so I take some next time I'm out...here are the new ones..I started this last summer -
Great haul and well fed fish!

OMG I got a very upset e-mail last night...cards arrived...they made her sign...girls called to thank us...They go to use the cards...invalid !! How embarrassing this has gotten! So here I sit, not working, but just getting off the phone with Amazon again! The cards were never scanned at the warehouse...and are still listed in the system as "pending order"..So they can't re issue them until that clears...at least another week...Also I believe they would have given me a real ace ache had I not had physical pictures of the cards, she SIGNED for..... showing all the card #'s

Yep and what that does is help to relieve the tension on your muscle in between drags...though I do a bit more than 40 yards... It works to stretch things out a bit and also brings your heart rate back down...keeps you from getting fatigued as fast.

BTW speaking of veggies...My new spiralizer pro just arrived...so to night I will play with some veggies. maybe some spiralized zucchini and yellow squash in a toss of garlic, butter and fresh basil. to go with the oven fried Buffalo chicken legs...

Probably some how saw their own reflection in the glass and charged it....he's lucky they were most likely still in a bit of shock when he happened on them.

No surprise...usually it's hunters finding these bodies...I would bet there are more than a few old burial sites out here in the country..

Paula, Gators are nothing down there..though ones that big are something!...We lived just South of Orlando and most of the parks had, what they called lakes...ponds for up here...but they had life guards to tell us when to get out of the water due to gator sightings...Any time my uncle went out to sit on the patio he sent his dachshund out first...He'd have gators sleeping under the picnic table......housing development around a "lake". every once in a while school would open late...big rattlers in the hall ways, would need clearing....lol it was interesting

No... the first thing I thought about is ,Were those dummy's laying prone on the ground?, How can they not know how fast a gator really is if it wants to be?

Worked another 4 hours on the, I'll call it Rivers project, yesterday...The brush pile fence had settled quit a bit since I started it with mostly green tree tops from shade trimming trees. This packed it down to a fairly tight 3-4 foot...I have a lot of it back to a mid chest-head level again. Oh boy the snow melted revealed ...a mess..I believe we have lost at the least 75% of the trees in there. I'd be up set if young..but lets be honest, by the time they would have been timber quality I'd be dead or moved. Now I just have a open play ground of sorts...Definitely an area I can now use my 243 in this season. Funny how much can be revealed when your view isn't obstructed. Like just how much of a slope there really is on that land. I don't now why it surprised me, seeing the big timber woods that backs up to it has a couple of my stands on the edge. I know that even in a 16 foot ladder stand and the 20ft hang on I built, the hill is way above my line of sight. just looked flatter...even in those pictures it looks much flatter than it really is. keeping water in a small pond shouldn't be a problem in there... definitely leaf fill won't be as big an issue either. Now it's just talking Mr B. into doing that as a "fun" try out for his skills on the bulldozer....I'm pretty sure I will have plenty of time before he finally gets it completely looked over by a mechanic before using.... He starts it weekly, but won't actually use it until he gets a "tune up". Today is a rain day...but this weather has been great for this work.Though much tougher on the knee with the severed ACL...first time in a while I've woken up having a hard time walking on it. So much walking, dragging bending over, which is a real no no, on uneven ground. Good day to iron and watch a movie or two...clothes won't iron them self. -
We have a friend that hunts camp. He always brings goodies, but also sends us a box of Rendezvous pork ribs ,pulled pork and beans. Man is it ever GOOD!!! and appreciated...That is what is for dinner tonight (pulled pork)with green beans ,corn, and mashed potatoes.

What's the Scariest hunting situation you have had ?

Pygmy, I had a very good friend on such a trip in high school. They did flip and he nearly drowned...he described it and never was quite the same after. Then a year after graduation and buying a farm, everything he wanted,he was struck and killed by a semi along the side of the road...life's unpredictable. -
Because it spreads like wild fire, crowds out and reduces bio mass of better foods. Is just the worst in an actual garden. Animals spread it everywhere and if you suffer from any allergies...and live where it grows unchecked...You'd know why It is unwanted. Now to that list I could add it's toxicity problems but the above should be enough.

So searching around for pricing and things to think about I come across this... This is the bane of my existence ....the biggest weed problem I have...produces a billion seeds and they survive forever..then top that with they don't show up until well into the growing season and they sell it for that much a #...! LOL I'm doing something wrong
