I know it's one bird per day 2 bird limit....that's what I shot..one bird Sits...I did call...I started with light tree yelps just as it got light enough to see...thats when that Tom let loose....He must have seen me come in....or heard for I snapped branches when I walked in and opened all the blind windows....so when that single hen walked through he flew off his perch down hill to her......I called to get him and the other to come back up...that's when all the other birds got going....and then more single hens walked through...I let The toms bring each other in...I don't believe in a lot of calling if you have Toms Gobbling...unless it sounds like they are moving away from you.....

This from a ...IMO... a predatory lending institution.....I had an account with them...one year I payed off a 700 00 and change.... credit card bill at the beginning of DEC...they did an electronic withdraw from my checking to the tune of 7,000.00 + dollars...I had checks at X-mas time bouncing all over the east coast....6 hrs of phone calls I finally got to management and they tried to keep our money..saying.."ppl going overseas routinely pay in advance on their cards"...besides you made the mistake...Really ? I demanded under the law to get the copy of my check or we'd be in court for a lot more that the 6,000 + thousand they taken from us and gave him 10 mins to fax it to me...I had it in 5...Clearly showing I had not made the mistake...then cut my card for them to hear...Then went to town on Marine Midland for doing an illegal transfer....I'd never signed permission for an electronic transfer...We now have on record that checks can't be payed with electronic transfers at our banks.....Oh boy does that tick places off..... BOA then did the same thing to our daughter in Georgia...trying to keep her money as well... Bad Bad company

In the Finger lake hills...lots of lakes around us so no matter what direction a storm comes in...it has water to pick up before reaching our hill top and dumping...lol...we're around 1900ft in elevation -

Opener is suppose to be good ...fingers crossed...I'm amazed at the number of tracks I located in the snow EVERY where....singles...and some groups...the pic below I took this morning ...her loud cluck woke me...sleep with window open....she looked a bit tired and lonely...having a hard time walking in the heavy snow.......Lost some nests or perhaps a few birds...many tracks had fox tracks following and a few spots were tore up ...with feathers around ...think some of those had tracs moving away but at a distance...That's life...going to be difficult figuring out which areas to hunt...Sons working nights so he can go to one half and I the other...good Luck everyone... -
The problem is the permission slip state that.......the land owner it absolved from liability except in the case of willfully or maliciously not warning and guarding against hazards... This is where you can get into trouble....for one has to now rely on the judgement of the courts to decide..ie...that the "widow maker" that fell out of a tree and hit the hunter..hiker ect...doesn't fall into that category...I mean hey... the owner is responsible for the maintenance of his property...and irregardless of the out come.in court... the owner would then have to deal with possible loss of or increase of insurance payments

I took these this morning ..and it's still snowing.... -
Yep ..counting all my blessings it was bit clean off...dang!!...Mr B was working around the house...accident crushed his foot....actually blew out the side..nasty!!! he was in wild pain for along time....I was nearly a half mile away and heard the screaming and swearing...some screaming may have been the kids as they were working to unpin him ...broke all the bones couldn't even cast it for a couple of weeks due to tissue damage...Thank God he wasn't wearing steel toed boots...Dr's said he'd lost his toes
-
Congrats...that first miss was just so he could get the bigger bird nice at first daylight...one very distant shot and then the temps dropped pea soup rolled in....this was followed by a very steady and current rain Birds have been dead silent all morning...almost like they know

I'm lucky she caught me with a molar and it was a very clean cut as it were...but being awake during the surgery and hearing them snipping the bone and pulling tendons and such was a trip ...but I was on some awesome meds...I'd sat in the ER for 50 mins and yelled as a DR walked by the room...he came in and I said..."Ummm... been here 50mins...half of finger missing here...open to the air and..well not to complain but...... adrenalin has worn off...."..Ya there is a distinct thumping that goes with each shot of pain...Then I had plenty of help and a very nice shot before they packed me back up in sons truck to drive another hour+ to get to hand surgeon in Rochester...I was in one liner mode...and very happy...cracking jokes all through surgery

actually...no ..I didn't know it happened until my son started yelling he'd take care of it and running around...I looked down and said "..damn my fingers gone"..only half.........wrapped it in paper towels and had son drive me to the hospital....on the way there I glanced over and saw it...he had found the finger and put it on ice in a jelly jar..there it was nestled between his legs as he drove.....I started saying "I'm sorry I'm sorry" as I rocked back and forth holding my hand up...He yells at me "Mom what are you sorry for?"..true story and mind you his driving was scaring the hell out of me...he was a tad upset...I answered..."For giving you the finger..now slow down before you kill us on the way!"..That broke the tension a bit...lol
-
Sorry to hear....Been there.. ...but mine is the pinky and a dog bit it off.......it will take a while but in a year you'll barely notice it....I'm sure they have you scheduled for physical therapy.......this really messes up the tendons in your hand so DO AS they SAY and all the exercises ....with my hand in the bulky wrap My surgeon...Dr Mitten by the way..lol....who is a bow hunter...had me out hunting opening day...took a nice 8 point on Oct 18th that year.....So you may not miss turkey season ...Good luck

Also...trees should have a mark close to ground level....that way you know what they are cutting....trees can easily be stolen if they think you won't notice or count stumps -

Yes they can really cost you $$$$ down the road if your not right on top of things....IE the property we bought was logged years before we got it....and it will be many years before we can do it again...I had the DEC walk that as well ...because of the damage I saw....they couldn't believe how bad it was...the foresters own words.."You get some standing tree damage ...but No Way should 40% of your remaining timber be gouged!"...All those gouged trees...rotting...You need to let them KNOW...you are watching and I took pics ..actually video o the woods before they started...and let them know I did...also requested a small skid steer to be used -

When we had ours done it was 60/40...our favor and they paid the trucking....cut down the tops and did all road and landing repairs...but We had several bidders come out all marked the trees with different colored paint...I had two "test" trees they needed to calculate board footage right then and there....amazing the difference in #'s between estimators...Wagner was one of the bidders...we didn't go with them but they weren't on the low end...we also had the DEC come out to give an opinion on the tree marking....We did not sell on the stump...I knew what we had in timber and went with cut and bid....Doing this increased our bottom line because I knew we had Veneer quality logs....which takes you from pennies to dollars per board foot...trees were cut stacked at landing and the cutters brought in bidders....Canada buyers gave us the best price -
Ya darn good sized rabbits from the looks of things...all healthy looking...great pics
