  1. very taste when slow simmered and makes great stock.....
  2. And don't for get to lime it now and during the summer...wooded areas are usually acidic
  3. Usually an alert and feeding hen(bobbin head, never spooks them)...but I tried the Jake and sitting hen and had a slob walk through 50yrds and refused to come in....so then went to nothing but a feeder......have them hanging up on neighbors land...in one tiny little area that is the same area all the deer from the other day were headed for.....today I moved again to a small clover plot in the woods...at 11:45 I had a young doe with a very thin very light red coat come in and checked me out at ten ft....decided she wasn't sure and turned...about then she spotted the 3/4 strut tom and sitting hen I had out...startled..then bobbed weaved...stomped...and just stared..finally walking behind me and up through the woods...when I went to get the decoys I realized what spooked her...its an inflatable and the sun had heated him up...giving off a strong vinyl smell....usually I hunt early morning only and that's not a problem...any hoo right after she left I heard a hen putting and clucking coming in...but 12pm hit and I packed up...figures...lol...The Tom I took was with alert and feeder hen but also a few live hens had walked through the area....when I went to get decoys I noticed the grass hoppers have had a good hatch...I may have been luckier if I'd stuck to an early morning hunt there...instead of 9-12...we'll see tomorrow
  4. Wow...I hope your framing these pics and hitting the craft fairs and local shops with them...thanks
  5. and Dang trying to beat that 5:45 sun rise is getting tough! I left the house at 4:15 today dressed in my late fall bow gear...darn cold and came back at 8:50a.m....to a heavy frost on the ground and peas in garden not looking happy I set up closer to where the birds were flying down the other day and nada...not a peep no sounds of fly down of feeding ...but every time I called...long pauses between...a set of doe would come in...some walking 15ft away and on the last...... a promising young buck with 9ins of velvet on either side of his head before the first split....so 6 doe and on1 buck for the morning ...lol...Opps two squirrel as well
  6. Scot not sure what you liked about my previous post after the above....but no.... none of yours mine or any ones business but the parents the girl.... Ted and any "authority" that gave him guardianship of her...and I was a 17 yr old girl ...back in the seventies and I've work in high schools so...... here's the honest scoop...if that seventeen year old girl had her sights set on being with a thirty year old man...it wouldn't have made a tinkers damn bit of difference whether it was the neighbor next door or Ted...she would have found some one in that age rage with decent looks to try and seduce...Now you may not like it but it is what it is......... would it have been nice if he contained him self as an adult yep...but same can be said for many a high school teachers.....youth group leaders....summer camp worker...and the list goes on....That 16-19 age range for both girls and boys is a parents nightmare if they really knew what is going on...and yes boys just love those "older" girls as well...
  7. Yep thats ours...with speckling ion the berry...they are actually tasty when ripe ,,,but would never purposely plant them...not thorns but stem growths as pointed as thorns...I get some pics later and post
  8. We drove down to Watkins glen for brunch Sunday...and I had a raging head ache by the time we got home...all the Autumn Olive was in full bloom and the smell and pollen just tore me up...there wasn't any place along the road it wasn't growing
  9. Dave.... I'll admit I resemble that remark with some major differences...I just want too see their bank accounts stripped clean....also if ppl around me are baiting which they are...I won't trespass to prove it.... but they are just keep deer in the area and fattening them up...besides if they are dishing out $$$ to bait their land....they aren't bothering as much to trespass on mine... win win to me ...but all that said...I don't recall hearing of Ted trespassing....which to me is the ultimate you need YAK.... People are going after him for his past love life indiscretions which is no ones damn business and has nothing to do with hunting or gun rights...unless you can prove he shot one of them... Now as far as the draft...well don't get me going on that....there is a huge difference between killing a game animal even for sport than killing another human being and there were thousand of young men that had enough intelligent to see through the political BS that got us into that situation and $$$$$ was the reason not God and Country...... The Vietnamese never brought the fight to our soils as in the Middle East ....I lost someone very close to me there 3 days before he was due to leave...and my cousin was a POW...and even he says it took guts to say no I won't... Ted.... what ever his thoughts then or now has done a lot of good to atone for things he has done and that can't be taken away from him or the ppl he's touched in a positive way.. The bear shooting was out and out his fault for not doing his own home work and I would hope that he has learned something from that and the bait issue...but if he wants to make a comment on any sitting president for CS that should be his right...the whole point of the founding fathers was to allow open descent in this country...that's what they fought for...should he clean up the vulgarity of it yes...but not the essence of it....As far as I'm concerned he said what many are thinking but too afraid to say out loud
  10. As always......Stellar job! Thanks
  11. OK red necks aren't just south of our borders...lol But they should arrest the "victim" as well...I mean hey they have laws against inciting a riot ...there should be a law against inciting a shooting
  12. Think before getting riled for my saying this... That may have been for the best...seeing he did not offer her to you....a few hours of misery out way years of it...that being said.... assuming he is not the most conscientious of farmers which this sounds like...be proud you tried to do right by her....
  13. So I thought you guys might find this interesting...
  14. We are living in times where our "leaders" have decided we ALL need to be "politically correct" or face the consequences....we now have stricter laws against protest....no one knows who when or where our conversations are being monitored......For our own "protection"...where...little old WHITE ladies and White infants are being body searched at airports for every ones protection.....Then you have all hunting forums incessantly going back and forth bickering like old woman...sorry but when it gets to page after page of the same old...that's what it sounds like...About an over zealous, overly loud, out spoken politically incorrect "celebrity". Who just wants all Americans to keep their independent rights...as they are.....So he's the""Aunt Edith" of gun rights and hunting....every family has one and every body recognizes her...ya know the "odd" family member at the holidays...I'm sure even Anti's are intelligent enough to recognize this.....Ted is out there...yes over the top and making really stupid mistakes...but he's not letting issues to slowly die a quite death....think about the freedoms in this country we have allowed to quietly be diminished Every bodies waiting for the next big attack...you missed it ppl...they have been attacking ever since the towers went down...and WE are our their weapon....all they have to do is whisper a threat and we Americans loose more freedoms...they are waiting patiently while we disarm our selves for the greater good... time to put efforts to better use than worrying about Ted Nugent....like stopping the campaign to price us out of or ability to even find ammunition for all the weapons we've all been buying
  15. they also spread by roots...but I really like ours....just mow around them...and very pretty in the spring....You'll want to protect all of those from rodents...I use blk drain pipe I cut length wise...just in case I forget to remove it...that's happened..... Remember the persimmon break dormancy very late and can some times rarley not break at all the first year planted
  16. Ya know this world is going to Hell and on the march there..... you will see a wave of "politically correct of bust" signs being flown
  17. Quite a few WOW moments in this thread,,,,looks like someone opened the gates and let a few self appointed St Peters out....
  18. Autumn olive is not only invasive but it is HELL on tractor tires...for it does get short stem growth that is pointed and tough like thorns...we have had to have the tractor tire guy come up a few times...and it was autumn olive he found in the tire....I'm talking a 35 hrs JD tire...I'd look into something different and at all cost avoid buck thorn....
  19. Flock guys...it's flock of birds....lol
  20. cup of wht wine ...pkg of McCormick Zesty herb marinade...olive oil... 2tbs herbed vinegar....marinade one afternoon...and grill slowly baisting ....serve with grilled shredded potatoes green salad and grilled corn .....dinner last night hhhmmmm
  21. ...I have to ask...lots of years out there and I've never heard of spotting turkey!?...What in the world was he doing?...the two hunters were together...for they they grouped up after I coughed out my position....and the one flashed his small LED at the guy up in the field with the spot light...to give his position...that section of woods...has been dead since
