  1. As they say...my inoculant for the hemp arrived and even though the forecast is rain this next 5 days ...there's no hurry on that fast growing plot....the clover plots and the alfalfa are sprouting and the established ones are scattered with deer droppings...I went for a walk and tree top removal and checked the fruit trees...nice working in a gentle cool rain....the happy camper comes on two fronts...one of my persimmon trees is just loaded with tiny fruit and at least one of the 200 red oak has tiny acorn buds growing....also two apples are in first production .....stoked about the up coming season
  2. Corn/soybeans are in every thing now days...do they have any idea how many state sanctioned ...deer...turkey...crows....raccoons...ect are killed year around for the sake of that beloved plant? Clueless to the whole picture
  3. That's the one thing I let Mr B worry about...he buys all the gas and mixes it for me...lol...Just was out yesterday and going again today with my Stihl pruner....he won't let me use the chain saw when no ones home....lots of trees to cut and I've learned how to take down the big ones pretty easily now ...I'm putting in a lot more clover...... now that I have two new big areas to work annuals into...thinning the "crap" trees that I've allowed to get fire wood size before cutting to bring more light to existing plots....If the deer flys don't carry me away first....lol
  4. nice job!....you do know wht Inst. has a % of annual clover mixed with the perennial....it's what makes it green up fast the first year planted...plot is looking good...great to see hard work pay off isn't it
  5. I'm blessed not to live near a city and most ppl I know...woman included are hunters...but on occasion I do find my self in the midst of non hunters and the topic is brought up...The Wendy's Clinic is always full of bored woman waiting to be seen and I do get the I couldn't do that...but as Doc stated I tell them the good hunters do...like taking out the buck with gangrene from a car hit....or the fawn with that nasty infection that smelled of death...the starving Fox that couldn't sit still from the torment of mange long enough to catch food to eat...the deer that I put down after domestic dogs...ppls pets..... had eaten it alive from the rump up...That had I not been hunting to provide the food our family prefers I'd never been there to give these animals relief .... Yes that is nature and it should take it's course...but if one thinks that's truly right then there should be no hospis(sp) allowed for the elderly and dying...It is human nature to want to provide aid to the suffering..... just as it is to consume meat...having brought our children up in 4H....I have been to live stock auctions...I prefer to be humane in a quick unsuspected kill than what I've seen at livestock auctions and slaughter houses....I've never gotten an argument with that....
  6. good news...I'm so behind in working the plots....equipment issues now bad storms and flooding...then not being able to find the right inoculant for the Hemp...but that's in the mail now...I did get that area disced and dragged and some de-rocking done...but the storms will loosen things up to disc deeper later this week....I have put in several clover and one alfalfa / clover plot though...we'll see if the rains/hale damaged that...still enjoy doing it....I have plans for several fall plots and at least one late corn planting...
  7. weed wacker...sprayer...saw...rake...and lots of elbow grease...Thats how I started out....
  8. That's a great blind....if you have no plans for windows...I can tell you the "good" clear vinyl they sell at Joanne Fabrics would work well at keeping the cold wind and rain/snow out of it.....tack it to bottom of window and attach a rod and hooks at top of window....I see deer in your future...
  9. Just think they are every where....the morning dew taught me a lesson on day when it lit up every web around us ....these are just a minute # in pics....They surely out number us....Neat but creepy pics you took...way too big...eewwww
  10. http://www.weedalert.com/weed_pages/wa_white_clover.htm Told my neighbor that if they didn't want to do food plots to simply mow wide winding trails and wait...where ever you mow up here clover will grow...then to make it more desirable just fertilize...Well It started out as two trails now they are mowing trails every where...lol I made a plot by simply mowing a large area...with in 3 years I had an excellent stand of clover/rye grass ...and never planted a thing...the deer feed in it all the time and I have 16 different "hybrid" plantings to choose from...several being planted clovers with good PH....
  11. God bless them and their families .....
  12. Turkey....chicken or venison burgers I make...Zweigels(sp) natural casing hots(Nathans mustard)....venison sausage I made....with one or more of these...potato...ring pasta...broccoli...three bean salads and grilled summer squash with Vidalia onion and red peppers...portabella mushrooms....and some times grilled grated potato's But tonight it slow cooker venison BBQ over rolls
  13. Are you taking the total and then adding bow...muzzle ...dmps..ect....???..I believe when they say TOTAL....they already added those to get that #
  14. I only had two hours but what a great morning....didn't spook anything going in...even though I did miss the trail a couple of times...had deer file by...raccoon scream and I believe a bear huff at me down wind...then I finally heard some birds above me in the field and below me in my woods and off to the side in my woods....I managed using just my voice this morning...... to get 4 hens all yelping clucking and cackling at me.... where they were located each of them helped me call the others in ...I actually got two to leave the field looking for me...lol...I had one 3 ft away and managed to get it to hop a stone wall and circle me....a chipmunk had breakfast on my leg........ I need to squirrel hunt that area more........ one ran the stone wall to with in a ft of my face and we had a stare down...before he decided to leave....Well got run pots to cemetery and salads to finish....have a great day!!
  15. sweet ...been seeing same during turkey hunting....
  16. No Eddie no more goats...and I took my turkey fan over to the barn and hung it 6ft up in the air upside down to dry...I came out of the woods one morning from hunting and caught that no good mother@$#$%%^%^$^&% dog coming out of the barn...it growled and barked at me...gun was unloaded....and ran off...I got to the barn and found the fan chewed up... My only revenge is to turn that entire pasture into a food plot and the area around it into bedding....which is already in the works...they can just try and find a deer ...between all the acres of standing corn and my 16 food plots....and 8 watering holes and three areas of hing cuttings...before I was disgusted and sick over the killings...now I'm just seriously p--sed off....
  17. They can field test it besides...but I wanted to head off any calls they may get...kinda for them as well...but the actual hemp I'm growing looks more like a golden rod plant pics below....Kenaf is a hibiscus plant species..... http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=Sunn+hemp+pics&id=4002BA0E44B04D1A2F7B5D55AE07396185629602&FORM=IQFRBA
  18. Thanks guys... man am I TIRED!!....I think it is the flood of adrenalin that caused those symptoms....Not my first attack...few years back my dog hit a nest of very angry ground bees while we were walking...it looked like a cartoon a funnel of liquid brown pouring out of the ground ...I turned to run but they were on me as I wildly swung my floppy hat at them and ran...that one was bad for they clung to my clothes and I was stripping running and screaming in a fiery pain down the drive...I looked back to see the dog blanketed in bees....My Dr. happened to have called and our daughter was on the phone with her when I hit the door half naked and screaming....she stayed on the phone giving instructions and calming me down asking for symptoms.....I am very careful about staying on trails I mow through the woods now.... I never heard nor saw these bees...Mr B checked the car and found none...but will be spraying the engine area before driving again!!...and I was so happy ...just got gas for 3.19 a gal and filled up!!...seat belts save lives ...for sure .......I'm surprised the driver never stopped...but then again I pretty much looked like a nut case hopping around in the middle of the road....
  19. bees are fully active and sneaky SOB's... went to get salad fixings ...driving along windows all up air on...my back starts burning so I'm vigorously rubbing against the seat ...then it explodes in pain....I'm pulling of the road ...grinding gears shift as I'm still rolling and if it weren't for my seat belt I would have jumped out in front of a car....nearly stripping my shirt in the road shaking out my attackers...bee/bees I don't know...Mr B checked my back when I got home and "Oh my God" is what came out of his mouth...They got me from the nape of my neck all over my back to the top of my jeans....I'm plastered in calamine and have a raging headache and light headed...going for a nap ...think they came in through the vents
  20. I've actually been using it for a few years...and it works pretty well and I have to say we have bigger racked bucks around and our turkeys have had excellent hatches...now I can't say for sure that that calcium increased shell strength thus egg survivability...but we've also have had increased pheasant sitings...who knows....
  21. no one huh...I'm surprised it helps with PH but that added calcium is utilized through the plants to strengthen bone for fawn and adults both...the shells in game birds eggs.....also other minerals to increase muscle mass...it's seaweed based...not too expensive either...me being "thrifty"
  22. I recounted this on another site...lots of southerns and even northerners ...have told of finding the real stuff growing wild in many places...I was surprised at that for the northern states...but hey corn reseeds I guess so why not that ???.....I've never found any while hiking...but I have found areas where there were a lot of 5gal buckets with holes in the bottom....hhhmmmm Paula see what happens when one relies on the drug slang dictionary on line...lol
  23. Well from a distance I bet it willl....Mr B. said he can hear the calls going out now ...."We drove by this field up in the hills and it looks like they have pot growing in the tall weeds"....lol The guy that sold the seed to me recounted a story of local kids down south going to the hospital not feeling too well ...after they stole some out of a farmers field and tried to smoke it.... ...lol
