  1. No when aiming I was midway and behind shoulder...BUT the arrow had other plans when the knock detached....it stayed center body but hit just in front of the rear leg at the knee...as I said the exit wound is under the shelf of my bow....even though I was 16ft up...she was 34yrds out so the arrow stayed pretty flat just pulled way to the left...on the charts that should have hit intestines but her insides were clean and as I said she wobbled at ten yrds and dropped at fifteen yrds from hit.... I was sick when I saw the hit and Happily surprised at how fast she went down....hit an artery ....I never noticed the knock being on the bow string until I took the pics....there was no need to knock another arrow.....but it explained the strange noise I heard on release
  2. Great thead thanks for taking the time... But....I wish someone could tell me how my broad head passed through the doe I shot through and through mid way up infront of her knee...with out hitting guts and dropping her in 15 yrds???....mind you that's the shot where the knock stayed on the bow string...The pic shows the knock but the exit whole is under my bows shelf
  3. Well I have high hopes for opening morning with the buck sightings I've had...if just one season the shooting would start at day break... not 4o mins. before
  4. oddles of buck ...no doe.....I haven't seen one doe in range since I shot the Oct22 doe...and a serious amount of buck ...but either running nose down or chasing really small doe and doe fawns??...today I had one decent doe sneak in behind me and hit a trail leading away...no shot....then buck zig zagging every where....next was a doe being pushed by a buck ...she was headed straight for me...I drew when she went behind a tree...the young dark racked 8pt pushed her and when she trotted into the shooting lane and stopped...it was clearly a doe fawn...I let down and when they passed by a hundred ft I grunted to see if he'd turn...2 min later here he comes ...right under the stand...pretty brown short tined rack...hope he makes it thru gun....I don't get it where are all the big doe?...the corn fields are cut...and I still have turnip greens....tracks every where....I've hunted all hours and different stands and areas....I know we have a bunch of bow hunters here but come on they couldn't have shot all the big doe
  5. both...but like others have said depends on walk in and stand set up...I still prefer being in the stand and relaxed before they filter in at 8:30-11:00
  6. Had the sweet Italian tonight...I replaced the H2O for mix with a good Merlot...and then when browned them and steamed them in the same wine.....Really good....Breakfast links are next
  7. OK that was a scary few hours here in the hills....felt like we were smack in the middle and the lightening was blinding at times....glad it wasn't a whole summer of storms like that...only thing that would have made it feel crazier would have been snow too...we had that once...lightening during a snow storm...wild.....Mom earth cleaning the air
  8. Tell him Congrats nice deer and looks like a great shot
  9. yes .....they had good customer service as well...e-mail about order wouldn't go through and they immediately called and left a message with all info...
  10. Funny you asked...for they have both and when I ordered it I specifically asked what one was in the kit....metal gears with a blk enamel coating...easy to clean and very smooth cranking....They are having a sale now delivered in three days.
  11. I bought the LEMS 5# sausage stuffer sausage kit....I really liked being able to control the flow of meat with the hand crank...the sweet Italian I thought was just a tad on the salty side....but I am on a restricted salt diet...so I can't even drink soda any more...it's too salty tasting to me...will be doing my own mix from now on and plan on making a feta spinach sausage this year....
  12. the gun needs cleaning one more time...tonite I think....shells all lined up....suits washed tonite to hang out.... The camp guys will get jerky....dilly beans...pickles...snack sticks and Venison "Canadian" Bacon.....maybe some cookies....we'll see what happens with tagging one more doe in archery doe...I need 10 more hours in the day I have my golden estrus...which I tried the other day as a drag to see the reaction....looking good ...all stands have been rechecked and blind chairs are good to go Whats on your check list?
  13. Just got through finishing up grinding mixing and stuffing 10#'s of sweet Italian sausage....took left overs...made a little patty and had it for lunch.......I hope the stuff in casings taste as good!!...the boys will have a treat at camp the first week....will be doing the snack sticks later in the week if I get that doe I want...temps too warm last night and today ...but in the morning they best watch out! Well I know whats for supper tonight
  14. Hey YOU.,...deer do stand still...don't empty your gun on a deer run full board through an open field or open wood lot....you CAN NOT IDENTIFY whats in the back ground doing that!!!! Just because you saw your dad...uncle.... gramps...brother.... hunt that way....DOES NOT make it right!!...Be Safe.....Hunt Safe....Good Luck
  15. Hhhmm...I think he walked under me yesterday.....
  16. erussell....that's hard to read...been there but I have only found one dead doe over the years from bow...5 from gun BUT..have had several wounded ones stroll by out of range....this year a 7pt hobbled by off the leased land ....he had been shot in the front leg.....the lease guys had asked another neighbor if they could track a wounded 4pt...permission granted and then the owner found the 4pt rotting in their field.....what bothers me is this week....time is tight and guys get stupid...last night we spotted the "great white hunters" Suburu parked up on the lease land hedgerow.....he snuck out at 5:25...turned the vehicle around with out hitting the break lights and drove away with out turning on the car lights....gee whats that say? Unfortunately I know what it says for I've heard them releasing the string on deer a half hour after shooting time as I've walked out of the woods...all during full moons which we have now...I'm pretty sure they are not the only ones to do this
  17. Actually pygmy ...I simply vented my frustrations over what was happening in my neighbor hood...go back and read the original post...I believe it was you my dear that managed to take it to this unfortunate level when some ppl agreed with me...but hey...I'm no kid and you will not suck me into this....just another unfortunate thread in a line of many here
  18. Seriously?...well it's when motorists drive around the country roads at night with their windows down and a 10 million power spot light and shine it over the fields and woodlands they are driving by slowly to catch deer or what ever out being deer or what ever and watch them in the light....in NYS it is illegal to do this with in 500ft of a building or live stock housing with out the permission of the owners.... It is also a preferred method of poachers in order to illegally kill game...for the game tend to stop and stare at the light making them an easy target I AM NOT SAYING ALL SPOTTERS ARE POACHERS But many are inconsiderate and not obeying the laws...at least around us
  19. We kept ours on the 4x4 that it was packed on .....makes ever having to move it again easy
  20. I was wondering how long it was going to take for someone to use that....to bad its in the emotocons in the first place
  21. OMG my Feet hurt!....got in at 5:30a.m and all was great... I could see pretty well and knew the deer were in the farmers cut corn field...just cut ...for they would have spooked...half way up the ladder deer are coming in and are right on top of me....buck chasing doe three different groups the first was young buck and I think fawns....I ended up having to stand on that little round rung for 15min...before three huge buck chased a doe up and then stopped to tick racks....then I made my move and got to the platform....still unable to move much because I have a hip quiver and the fletchings looked like little neon bouncy balls in the dark....I finally got the quiver on it's peg but my bow was still on the ground with a deer checking it out!!.....Holy moly I may have to up my blood pressure meds !!....Finally deer moved off and I was able to get settled ....as day break came I could hear and see deer running everywhere ....by 9a.m. I had a great 9pt come in ...the halo buck under the stand 2x's ....a button pace back and forth for 25mins trying hard to wind me then sniffed the ladder.....I only saw one doe fawn during shooting hours....Can't shoot a buck and I just couldn't stand it any longer...aaauugggghhh....If things don't change much in the next 5days...I know where I'll be opening morning The wind got wild...don't want to alert the deer
  22. Nope...could have several times over ...but the new sausage stuff has arrived and I need a lot more meat...need to make cubed steaks as well...only big doe till gun then I'm back buck hunting again...Think tomorrow will be the day....damn weather report...should have used the stand I wanted to in the first place....
