Knock-em down guys and be safe
-
Congrats!!...I fear my missed op yesterday will be my last this bow season...TONs of tracks...one button buck...came in to see if Mr B needed help getting on his way to camp....grabbed cam on way out...best pics were during last nights storm ...wouldn't ya know....snow filled lens ...Snow so hard ...I looked like a snowman when I got to the house last night...no deer then either... Well the pics show one buck I'll be after and the second...if you look real hard I think there's another good rack behind that snow....Good Luck everyone
-
Thanks guys...you have me itching head to toe!!...I'm allergic to DEET so my Therma cell is one important tool for me.....but it's the spiders....always find spiders even in winter on stand...crawling all over me and equipment...freak me out
-
They were the neighbors labs...a very big yellow and the dark brown one....the Sheriff found the owner in his garage pulling the lead fragments out of his butt...they had hidden the yellow and denied owning it...The DEC said I was darn lucky to have been hunting at the time....that the yellow that charged would have gone for my throat....that they had worked them selves into a feeding frenzy...scared the hell out of me.....Didn't teach the owner anything....two years later I ran into him and he told me the yellow was dead...it's heart blew out chasing deer...JACK A-- I never saw the deer when I shot...but still due to having to protect myself the DEC wouldn't have charged me...it's illegal to shoot a dog chasing or killing deer
-
heavy suit....light suit....gloves /masks/hats all washed and hanging...gun checked...barrel swabbed....ammo ready all set from bow to gun ...just less to carry...well the binoculars and camera ...but that can go in the fanny back...replaces quiver
-
OMG Steve.....hahahaha...all you married hunters out there be fore warned...lock the trophy room door before a fight!!
-
ppl say I should write a book...I just reply ...but if I weren't the one living it...I wouldn't believe a 1/3 of it my self...lol.... and let me say..... this incident....really hits home as to how very...very...luck I was just to look like a bruised turd after my roll in the snow with that buck .....I poked this years buck in the face a dozen or so times with an arrow before I grabbed his rack

With a clean miss on a doe ...why I'm in so early..... I say this because even though I really wanted her...I had decided to use a new broad head...a mechanical Now I bought these 2yrs ago and took one out and practiced with it....but the idea I could hit bone and it would only wound bothered me...so I left the other two in the package...Well you never know unless...so I nocked an arrow with one at the tip....SPIDER 100gr.... First she was coming in with a fawn in tow and crossed the beds that a 6pt and a spike...that had walked under the stand earlier and just left...now full alert...she starts to follow the trail to me...I go to draw my bow as shes behind a tree....caught on the bow rest hanging off my belt...what the He!!....now she's out of that lane and I refocus.... draw and start bending focusing on a spot I see she'll walk into....but she's picked up her pace and the surprise of her hitting the lane so fast my finger barely brushes the release .. which I had no intention of doing....that arrow about wiped the snot off her nose ...needless to say she took of snorting but only a little ways....she spent the next 15mins pacing around 40 yrds out stomping bobbing and snorting...for the whole county to her....and I could not be happier!!!...a clean miss for 1 and couple that with retrieved arrow...the O ring was half way down the shaft....and the blades....never deployed on impact...So some one was looking out for both that doe and me.......practice arrows...always go and stay with your gut instincts
-
the doe wouldn't have had to break skin....just a quick hard kick in the right place could cause a small tearto just the liver and slow bleed out.....at 62 he probably was more worried how he felt was a heart problem ...thus calling for help to transport and sitting down to rest
-
that's not necessarily true Steve.....I came upon two dogs ...actually only saw the one due to terrain....well It had been tugging on what I thought was a caught chain....as I came up from behind it ...it turned and was covered in blood and charged me...I shot from the hip...actually missing him and the ricochet hit the other dog behind him...but it stopped the charge...any how ..it was a doe and they had taken her down ...as I approached I saw her eyes were glazed over and her tail was laying next to her head...her rump was gone....I walked to her back side and grab a foot to inspect damage....she jumped up knocking me around and was screaming like a woman being killed...yes screaming....I still.. nightmares about it...I hadn't ejected the shell from last shot and was having a hard time with it...by now my mind was all but fried... .she was 10 yards from me on her knees and I was able to put one in her brain....but let me tell you she looked very dead before I grabbed that foot.... The Sheriff that came out said it looked like they had been attacking her for a long time....they had...at least 30 mins...for I was hunting a 1/4 mile away and the non stop barking made me think our dogs were in trouble...when I saw they weren't I just followed the sound and found them on the back side of our other property

my browning and I will be sitting in an area they run through ...hoping not to get shot out of the stand.... going out now looking for one last bow doe....saw ...NOTHING yesterday....not even a fawn.....

Please be careful...I have neighbors that are the same actually the uncle is fine but the nephew that bought just one acres as a hunting camp is ...well his grandparents referred to him as the "Family booze hound" ...and a nasty little A hole....the grandparents had a farm and there were 13 kids and umpteen grand kids...long and short...they didn't like a lot of them and called us up and let us know one of the kids wanted to buy some of the farm land....that they told their kids no ...we had first option?!...Well we couldn't pass that up... It's been hell since...they nearly shot our daughter her first time out ...have nearly shot me three times ...the last out of a 16ft tree stand....I know it was on purpose to try and scare me ...but the slug ricocheted and whistled past me ear hitting a branch in front of my face....guys like that are bad news...you guys need to carry good cameras and report anything he does illegal immediately..like shooting before and after legal hunting hours...which I bet he does......carry your cells.....and document buy inexpensive game cameras and put them up high and angle them down in areas you know he'll step into...let the DEC confront him.. remember....Good fencing makes good neighbors....10yrs and I finally have enough fence to put up...planned for this year but too busy...next spring Good Luck.... be safe -
but do they cover all of you...or do they drip over your knees and back?
-
OMG!!!...That was GREAT....hahaha thanks for posting it
-
Your right about the twin.....when one dies the other absorbs it ...not every time ....but this one wasn't going quietly I see...that has to hurt running full board through the woods....wonder if it effects whether buck want to breed it....Never mind dumb question
-
It's a tough thing...I made Mr. B promise that if it gets to such a point rig up a pulley system to get me in my tallest tree stand....leave the harness at home and take the rigging and walk away ....I'd rather leave this world at the bottom of a stand after a days sit...than a slow death with no joy.... His Grandfather went out hunting one year...he was in his late 80's...with a broken neck....his cast went from his neck to his hips...we drove him to a field and sat him in a chair....Tough old bird...he hunted all week...took a buck
-
Congrats!

That.s what I love about having my home on hunting property...the "service engine soon" light just popped on in the Van...no problem...let the boys hunt at camp and I'll be here...besides...I know whats running the woods here and it's looking damn good ...Had sway belly 10 point cruise by tonite ...easy gun range...FINALLY had 3 shooter does but all out of range....the climber comes out for tomorrow evening...unless I connect in the a.m.
-
Did you get the kit?...you'll be a happy camper when it arrives
-
No ..... I didn't and when I saw the nock hanging of the string ..I got out the file and refiled every single arrow nock again!! Didn't much care for the stomach flip I felt when the arrow hit on the opposite end of where I was aiming
-
Yes...but that shows it to be behind the leg(under as it were)...and the arrow passed in front of the leg( neither leg took a hit)...and it shows intestine...yet none were hit??
