Once again...I see that central /western NY wasn't included...yet authorities know about it....the Sheriff knew it was wide spread here when I told him of the one on our place But Kudos to the ones they got else where

Have they aged him yet...that is a beautiful buck....looks like the heart attack buck ...minus the stickers and he's a tad wider than this one....hoping he's still out there....

The law reads.....Q: Can I use bait to hunt bears? A: No. You may only use up to 1.5 fluid ounces of a liquid scent or lure. I had a reg 9 Capt. tell me that due to the wording of the law....once you take say scent free cotton cloth and soak it in the lure....that lure is no longer in " LIQUID" form thus you being able to use more lure or scent.......Now unless a ECO can wring out more than 1.5 ounces from the scented material you are hunting legal

I can tell you this...living in hill country and hunting hills...down in Alfred even when I was in my 20's...trying to drag a deer up the hill to camp was a heart attack in the making.......the ATV with two ppl dragging a deer has a difficult time making it back to camp...some places just require an ATV...we use to keep them at camp and radio a pick up...but now the 70's crowd drive them in....here at home...I some times use the JD...slip them in the bucket and then pull them up with it....just don't drop the bucket on rack...lol this guy I got to close too...Snap!!...terrible sound

I believe you should re-read the rules on this as cnymuzguy also pointed out...your father in-law didn't take the deer legally and should be reminded of that ....I would not have driven up ....he should have made arrangements to come and get it ....Sorry you were stuck in such a hard place...never easy

For one thing as I'm sure you know what you did was illegal for both of you...I do believe that the DEC states that the DMP's are to be signed over before the hunt...perhaps I'm wrong but don't think so...I would have let the father in-law know this and that it put you in a difficult situation that you do not wish to be put in again

I didn't see a single deer....squirrel nor monk...heard shot near by but nothing came my way...never seen a time where I had so many days of no sightings....there have been at least 7 deer I know of "Shot at" hit and not recovered...wish these ppl would stop telling me about them

came in fell asleep...woke at 4pm and stepped out the door to hear BANG ...on land across the street...dress and out I go...still hunted to the ridge that over looks both side of ridge and gully....the timer went off and as I turn to leave neighbor down the hill calls wounded deer ran up on us...OK I'll start at the top of the hill and meet ya....we're talking on the phone as we search........he's not following a blood trail ...just general direction...lots of fur and some droplets of blood at shot sight...I think brisket...so it's way dark and we say good by ...get gear off and phone rings....neighbor above me.....there are flash lights in your woods behind the goats ...on the ridge trail....Crap!!....meet ya out there.....they are in their buggy on their land following retreating lights...the trespassers turned them off...we meet and talk....so I get back on trail turn off my light and wait for them to leave....bingo the lights come back on....so I walk the trail to get closer with no light...don't fancy getting shot ...so as I get close I turn on flash light....well lights go off and I hear the crashing through the woods...don't even bother yelling...miserable @#%%$%^#%#%^...I hope they fell and broke something....I'm hoping it put a scare into them

I just got in...and so...so screwed up this morning :cry:had the second ever true buck fever...not the almost passing out....but my left knee started bouncing and my eyes started shaking back and forth....OH my god he had a big rack...after seeing nothing all week So at 7:13 there was a shot very close by ..not bad one minute off....and I was already alert due to leaf noise in the distance... I see movement at 7:30 ....doe and then Mr heart attack and they are headed my way........ I was at the ready and he turned toward me so I did a little prayer... "please don't come in head on"...and he starts to bed...I considered shooting but knew I could wait...down he goes and head and vitals?...yep behind a big maple...they are 100yrds out...I let down some and I was fine at that point....then the doe decides to make a run for it and of course shes turned to head away...I'm up and ready when he pops up and I find and opening ...he enters and I shoot he jumps behind another tree and stands.....he pops out again...shoot....he turns and goes back and hides in the brush...150yrds...I'm watching him ...thinking what the he!!...I see in the binos I killed both maples and he's just standing there hanging out ...when I see the doe again and here she comes right where I'd shot...and she's move quartering away...and out he comes...well the binos have caught the rack...and all done!.....the lft knee is bouncing up and down and I'm thinking if it catches me I could knock my self out! ..With all my might I am working on settling down...he walks into another opening but there are a thin scattering of short maples...not thick...I shoot and they both just stand there....I was done....With shaky arms I lay the gun over my wildly bouncing legs and watch as they walked across our place and out of sight...an hour later I went and checked...yep that's going to hurt when we log.......checked every place he stood...no blood ...no hair....just kicked up dirt and slug trail in the dirt and holes in the trees.... Then I headed out to go to the shooting house and opened her up.... took off gear.... got a blanket and settled down watching the woods with my feet up...After a while I still hunted back to the house

Good luck all...headed out now...new moon...no wind...and the farmer next door finally hit that last 1/4 strip of corn they were hiding in...he must have tagged out his stand was at the corner of that and our woods...this will change them back to old ways...hope..hope...hope...hitting old faithful

Congrats to brother and congrats on the ten pt...and really!our opener was 7:13.... before I leave in the am I set my phone timers for the sunrise and sun set times in our area for that day....when it's legal to shoot the phone vibrates and in the pm it vibrates to let me know don't shoot...sometimes they just have to walk...this year I wish I could see something walking... for all my cams...pulled cards no deer on any since this guy smiled for me...surprised no yotes I called one in from the window the other nite

will you explain to me when you guys are going to realize that this little street your on goes both ways.... why in blue blazes do you ppl put all the responsibility of being a descent good neighbor/hunter/ human on the guys that doesn't shoot across property lines...doesn't trespass....The guy that doesn't infringe on the other guys space....because from the sounds of what this guys has said in the past he would have been much worse and uncivil had the tables turned. What is so damn hard about just letting a deer walk and waiting for it to get on your land? I can say I've had huge deer walk by and live another day because they chose not to cross over on to us...and if you can't do that then don't bother hunting that area...as many suggested to the guy who wasn't in the wrong

I think they shot all of them since opener...not even a flag to be seen...had to come for a bit.....emergancy after Thanksgiving RUN....phewww forgot I could run that fast

This may be dumb...but...how do you attach a life line with out having to climb up with out it in the first place? and where do you attach it...if to the say ladder stand ..if stand falls well....there ya go...I never trust straps...all my stands that aren't built and even one of those..... has a heavy chain c link and padlock holding the stand asa backup to strap....the ladders have those two wrap around lines...the stabilizer bar and I put another ratchet strap between the stabilizer bar and the foot platform...to climb up I have a deep heavy hook on a short line I reach up hook over a rung and climb move the hook above me as I go....wrapped the hook in duct tape to keep away the metal to metal sound

Hunter49...I'm with you on that....my bow buck field dressed 160#'s...so live weight was around 200...I forgot my gutting bag and had to drag him 100yrds through heavy brush to get him to where MrB was coming with the ATV...I'm 10yrs your junior and a woman....one that could barely move the next day!!!...and won't forget her gutting bag again....lol

It's been a rough season all over and we're only 4 days in !!!

Absolutely nothing...the guys that were shooting after hours....and lost the deer they were shooting at came back this a.m.....I watched a patrol car drive by and it's amazing...no shots before days opener,,,go figure....well at 7 50 they let loos in the same spot again....lets hope it was the one they wounded...and I'm hoping a small buck...get them out of the woods!...I just came in...toes frozen warm up and right back out
