I lasted to about 9:40....I'm soaked to the bone and all clothes are in the dryer...so....they are not moving at all...need to warm ...do chores and try tonight
-
4-5 hours in the a.m. and then 2-3 in the pm...I have chores to do...some times I switch it up and hunt mid day....bow season are all day hunting times for me...but I prefer bow over gun season...and this season just bites with no snow on the ground....no need for them to be up and moving ...unless a second rut has them going....which I think the chasing I saw last night indicates is starting....think a bunch of youngins may get bred
-
Yep they are out in force....last night I watched a truck take 20 min. to drive a 1/4 mile ....only place to go off that road was on to our road and and past our place.......going at a snails pace ...but not spotting....I know at least one guy around hear that has night vision goggles...any ways I turned on the porch light and stepped out as he passed the drive.....road his breaks the entire length of our road frontage then took off...dirt bags
-
It's raining....so I know the deer have been in the pines a good part of night...rained all night...which means they should filter down into the reliable stands area ...neighbors green field and my lane way ....lets hope for I'm pretty sure I'm getting wet this morning....wish me luck they decide to come in through our place and not around it...followed what looked like a great.... I believe morning..... trail out last night
-
Wooly...that first one cost me a little over 42.00...and is made out of a packing crate....card board and camo tarps ...it's now in it's 2nd winter and dry as a bone..Oh the roof is card board and tarp as well...let the Government fund them...lol

OMG you guys amaze me...this started out Wow great buck !!...yadayadayada...then one.little bleep toward the negative from whom ever and many of you are hanging this guy on the "wall of shame" and the buck is becoming a "too bad buck"...holy cow...Hahahaha
-
went out late to old reliable saw nothing then my alarm went off...so I got down ...rain had started and decided to walk out the long way and past ole reliable 2....huge wide tracks on trail ...good...then 15yrds past the stand I look over on the neighbors and Wow...there are all the deer...5 big doe 4-5 fawn and 3 buck running one doe and two fawn around like cowboys in a calf roping contest...lol......then came the low grunting....finally one big doe mouth open and panting stops and notices me ...she stiff legs it towards me but a buck has other ideas and she's off again....I slowly and "quietly" walked away...ole reliable 2 is where I'll be in the morning

Hey I resemble tha that article....I have two bad weather shooting houses....but mine cost considerably less... still keep me out of the rain and the cold....the second one I built this year has only been hunted a couple of times...because the weather has been good ...it did help me take a bow doe...for I hunted a hang on stand 100ft in front of it....being new the deer were a tad leery during the day so they came in next to me while keeping an eye on the blind...thwack...one doe down.... finally got the hubby to go turkey hunting...he sat in the first blind pictured and I sat under it and called in a Tom....He's hooked now...late season yote hunting is so much nicer and a great place to just take pics....you won't see any apologies from me...it's just another tool...none of this years deer were taken from either...and I'll be building more...trespassers can't tell where I'm hunting now
-
That is from last year....would you believe I'm bummed it hasn't arrived yet?....What a swirly this gun season is turning into with no snow...51 here right now
-
there's one place I'm not allowed to shovel...so we hire guys.....
-
That's a dandy Eddie and diesel to boot ....lol don't get me wrong things can get hairy here quick...I still have the JD front loader and a smaller JD with a hydraulic plow...but the shoveling replaces food plotting and gardening as my winter work...plus I do a lot of fire wood in the winter and haul it out on sleds
-
erussell......It takes me a while to get her all done...breaks in between goals....and lots of water even in winter...and start before it gets too deep...some times I go out at 1am if the weathers bad...that way MrB can get his truck out for work...

Dave...that is very cool and Kudos for helping young birds Not to be a wet blanket by any means just a thought that popped to mind....Do you ever have to worry that...... once released they could be shot by a traditional rabbit /beagle hunter? -
Congrats...!...I killed a doe at camp yesterday and she left a heavy blood trail to the posted land next door....she went down into the gully and did not go up other side with others...I left and came back an hour later ...other deer were still milling around....I had contact info on one of the owners not the other....the one I had info on killed him self...couldn't get permission from other to go in....and this is why I usually do shoulder shots...but at the shot she had another doe run into her...ended up from looks of blood ...being a liver shot....she had stopped behind tree and stood bleeding for a while before walking away.... tail and head down...no clear shots....left quite a trail...DEC has told us if they can't see it from line...they won't go in
-
nice place ...here is a link to give you ideas on prices....acres...cabins and counties ...compare...and you can Google NYS realtors dealing in hunting properties....lots of listings....http://www.landsalelistings.com/usa/new-york/hunting/
-
Yuor right Doc....that's why I shovel our drive by hand most of the winter and hike the woods with no snow shoes....that right there is either a heart builder or attack on it's own...lol
-
Took a little doe yesterday ...got a shot on a yote ...killed a maple sapling....I just got done skinning ...quartering....and cutting up shoulders...heading back out for evening hunt
-
After not seeing any thing I filled a doe tag today...not thrilled with the size but 3 came in at 75yrds 4:20 this afternoon...I picked biggest of three and dropped her in her tracks with a high shoulder shot....After seeing no deer for a long time and getting buck fever on the biggest buck I've seen on our property...she is a confidence builder and nice tender eats....I really thought a small mature doe...for the other two I knew were fawns and they wouldn't leave her even when I climbed down and was walking to them...they stayed in the woods and watched me cleaner her ...guilt...guilt...guilt
-
Grabbed good binoc's at 10:30 and hit the ground...nothing on us...nor any of the neighboring properties I could see from us...which is a lot of land...nothing on cams and the one neighbor has had nothing as well...hoping to catch whom ever left a folded 5spot at the base of one of their stands I did come across one fresh pile of droppings and a few fresh tracks
-
Sweet! congrats on a fine buck
-
