  1. Thanks for the info...those numbers are crazy when looking from 2001-2010....It.... in my eyes..... reflects a distinct reduction of hunter #'s more over than a view of turkey #'s......I drove the tractor up on 17 turkey yesterday,,,that's more than and half of what some entire counties had listed as turkey harvest for last years fall season....guys too busy bow hunting?...or ppl just don't like dealing with the sending leg in to report?...Our daughter has friends out in the Ithaca area ...think I might take up an offer to hunt...she says driving to work is like being in a pinball game ..her being a bumper the turkey the steel ball
  2. Dom your right not all damage are the deer and I can say at least from my damaged corn and beans and what WNTH just discribed...if the DEC had come out at night and spotted those fields he described...they would have seen far more damage being done by raccoons ...and wood chuck on the corn and by far, more damage by rabbits and woodchuck to the beans than deer....That being said farmers can get damage permits for things such as rabbits and turkeys and raccoon out of season....ppl aren't small game and varmint hunting like they use to and those animals breed far more than deer and are much more elusive than deer...which puts the bulls eye centered on them as well as the fact that you hit a raccoon with your car all you get is a thud and fur on your under carriage...a deer you get a bill for few thousand dollars for the insurance company
  3. Do any of you know the last time the DEC updated the turkey harvest maps.....with the ever increasing numbers of turkey across the entire state I have to wonder way central/western NY still has a late Oct. start to the hunting and 1 bird verses much of the rest of the state has an Oct1 opener and 2 bird harvest for the fall

    Roadkill

Yep...but been our hits and broken necks...had to have a State trooper come out to finish one thrashing buck...we couldn't get close enough to get it out of the road...it died just as he pulled up...got permit and had some fine eats...over the years we've gotten 3 police tags on deer
  5. Good luck...I use to live in Groveland...it has some super deer
  6. Talked to a worker at another GMNT and he said they were cleaning up everything that didn't have a paper packaging...I said ya...but a person that knows their weapons can tell when somethings been in water no matter how well you clean it...and any thing with a wooden stock ...that wont fly....he said mainly the boats...rods...bows...and composites
  7. Wow...that is a great story good for him!
  8. They've already been out doing a grid pattern over our hill....every year you can count on it...Yep the pic made me think that these two were looking to harvest....Eddie have any sumac patches in that area?...they like to grow amongst the sumac...If I recall the kids at the high school I worked at...told me it was because both plants give off a similar heat signature and similar in color until fall
  9. Sorry not for rent...it's my "WOMAN CAVE".....lol...OMG I just hate that man cave saying....
  10. the blk curtains go over the camo bug screen curtains....this allows me to turn on the two battery lights with out being seen...This way I can go in under cover of dark and relax until shooting hours...reading or what ever....also blocks the sun from back lighting me when hunting the up hill side of blind
  11. 8ft high....recycled stuff from around the house and construction site dumpster driving...bought hard ware....nails...inside luan(sp) and PT deck bracing and floor joists ....asked for a buddy heater for X-mas and the floor has 3 in Styrofoam insulation and the walls have corrugated cardboard for insulation...the doors are a freezer box two sides folded and filled with other boxes ...duct taped and covered in wood look vinyl contact paper.....
  12. heres a few more of sliding windows and the finished out side.....
  13. I finally after all summer have mine done !!!...here are finished pics....
  14. for new plots I use Milorganite....it's a heat treated human waste fertalizer that when first spread keep deer at bay until the plants have time to get some growth on them....rain and time dissipate the smell and the deer will come in later....only problem is ...turkeys could care less and the rabbits don't seem all that bothered go figure
  15. Thank You for the Brenneke info,,,,their 3 in mag 20ga is the only slug I'll shoot ...they are expensive but I've taken many many deer with them over the years...... That's a relief
  16. Well this spoke volumes......and confirmed a few things
  17. Glad you got a good price on ammo ...but just try to find 3 in mag 20ga ammo...Henrietta apparently thinks every one uses 12 ga....or 20ga 2 and?.... No Eddie nothing to De-scent the billy I need him good and ripe....found one of the pines next to the pasture all tore up...buck around here just love the.... actually....wht spruce here...loose one or two a year...but got 3 bottles of my De-scenting body soap and some earth wafers
  18. first he should be turned in for being stupid...I do wish there was a stupid law....being illegal to feed and salt block them... opening talking about it like it was an OK thing to do.... learns him a fine ...as far as the I've seen 10--12--14pt deer...well I'd personally have to give him some slack and disagree with you...I rarely get the big deer on camera but every single year I have at least 1 10 and 1 12 show up on our place with numerous 8's...not often do I get a shot on them and can count their tines well 8's seem to be easier...I don't take long bow shots and as in the past where I had a 10 behind a nice eight...the 8 came in for a good shot first....I had a 12pt that had 11 15/16 brow tins pop in less than 10 yrds away as I was holding full draw on a doe...never got a shot at him because I was trying not to drop my bow and pass out...guy 1 1/2 miles away got him a week later...so ya I believe he could be see what he says...at least during bow season...I don't remember you saying he said they were typical racks either...I don't know about you guys but I use binoculars every time I'm out
  19. Great pics..but I would hope not....it isn't legal to shoot bears with cubs
  20. You mean to tell me they haven't managed to finagle a usage tax some where in all those other usage taxes for this?
  21. once unintentional...was actually pretty sick on opening day of shot gun one year ..went to camp had a few does come in going down hill...shot one and it ran...being sick I didn't want to deal with a long tracking or recovery so took another shot as it was running away down hill...hoping to drop with a spine shot....OMG...was Mr B ticked at me...for that is the only deer I have ever not been able to gut.....the guys at camp got a laugh out of it but 30 years later...I think Mr B. is still ticked about it....lol
  22. They weren't carrying half of what I wanted and told me if I wanted it to hit the web...it's free shipping....Ahhh so you don't want my business and carrying product is a hassle for actual walk in stores? Yep...???!!...Why didn't that answer surprise me...the gun and archery Dept was loaded and 2 ppl working the counters...with 6 costumers standing around waiting.. Everyone else ...were loading up their carts with...trophy rocks ....PB buckets....donkey something ...apple syrup....co-caine ...you name it.....those shelves and the camera shelves were nearly bare one guy...he and his wife looked to be in their 80's had several trophy rocks in his cart...lol NYS might as well just OK baiting if they have no problem with stores carrying the stuff....because really with our wonderful taxes...it makes perfact sense that guys hunting out of state would go to the trouble to buy their bait here and trans port it to another state with no baiting laws
  23. Great job....just beautiful art work in your skill behind the lens
