I have never seen the farmers so...

They just planted something I'll assume corn...he has a huge concrete bunker he built two years ago he fills with chopped corn...a mountain of chopped corn. They use a big bulldozer to mound it...it makes their semi trailers look like match boxes... -
I find that guys that have absolutely no trouble shooting a wood chuck that may have babies, or stuffing a rather nasty poison smoke bomb in their dens or zapping a red squirrel any time of year or a porcupine or say a monk parakeet( which BTW can be trained to talk),all that could have babies, funny. They can do this and in the same breath put coyote pups on a pedestal as a inhumane act to kill. It is crazy...they are not your domestic pets, though they enjoy eating them, what makes their babies any more valuable than these others? I also should note coyotes are the only known predator in NYS that will snatch a fetus as it's being born...Yes! I just love the fact I was told what a nut job I was when years ago I talked about this...yet hear we are with yet another person mentioning it again... Now I'm not into killing any animals babies but if they have become a problem and a costly problem the best way to rid an area of a problem it to clean house. Now in NYS that can happen while the are still carrying but as others have said they are hard to kill elusive animals. their season is during NYS's worst weather.

Now I wish it had rained just a bit more than it did...He's up planting and the wind is due east toward our place...Ya he's kicking up a bit of dust...lol....I got my garden corn planted...10 20ft rows...maybe 25..We have a sandy loam and because of that we have ants EVERYWHERE ..I spayed the actual seed the covered the rows and sprayed over that...all the fruit trees again and around the outside of our house...they did the field and we immediately got grease ants then carpenter ants ...same thing happens when they chop the corn but then it's mice... ..SOB just dumped a 16 oz full cup of coffee on my rug................ Anyways -

Just had the tractor with the chisel plow or subsoiler? come down the hill. I'm trying to figure out where they'd be putting in a new planting as well...There is a small field right next to the lease guys camp...but it runs off right into his pond ...So after the first year the farmer never planted it again...I'll have to drive by, maybe he's doing the other neighbors upper field...Farmers are planting every spot they can find! -
No I have and he has been so busy. We haven't spoken...He's in a wedding Saturday I'll ask when I pick up River...hes in the wedding too.. but gram has him for the night.

getting hit hard with a storm... I got dark here and the thunder has me thinking twice about going out to put the corn in...I worked on the tilling and raking ,got all the rows done . I came over to get the seed and some spray ...flea beetle went nuts and the slugs and ants ate my first strawberries already F@$#%&! I checked radar and it's all above the lakes...sounds and looks so close! Really wanted to get the drag down to smoote out the area I disced yesterday so I can get the seed down before a rain.
-
Ours are...They hit them hard because of the corn and hay fields Corn leaves nothing for hundreds of acres and the hay is cut late and hunted from both sides...This keeps them in the woods. Last year they had that bean field but that got cut down and planted in WW. Which was still pretty short by hunting season. My brassicas get hit hard...That's why I double seed them in..Early and then over seed later...

late..They just came up late yesterday,Mr B was home, to work the upper field...They haven't planted anything yet..He came back down at dark ...The beef farmer has been cutting his hay field 4 passes a day for the last 3 days...not sure if he finally got it done last night...I think the rain followed by the heat is messing with them big time...The beef farmer is using pretty old equipment and his field is a half a mile long...The big dairy guy just had to wait the wet out. I was finally able to get our tractor on the front field yesterday...still bogged down. It was disced up to get the soils to dry out...hope to drag it today fertilize and get the hay mix in ...way late but I'm not haying it so cutting is only crucial as far as reseeding goes and deer bedding, small amount of seed...I also have some alfalfa I want to put on the high dry side of that area...all morning/mid day sun. no afternoon ...so not sure how well it will do.....Well off to till and plant that garden, That is the most important thing...freezers are emptying fast.....

lol I remember that and they fried it to boot...eewwww

I had sirlion a d he had chicken breast...plus coleslaw with the other stuff.
-
So far pasta salad, zucchini stew and I do not know what else..sirloin steak, chicken breast, grilled kielbasa, turkey sausage?????
-
I'm back again from mowing...letting machine cool while I chew on some ice...that cools my brain...literally... the ice cools the blood vessels in my mouth and throat cooling the blood a bit as it travels ... I just have to be careful of "brain freezes" by chewing too much too soon when I'm really hot. Air conditioned cab I'd be happy with a shade roof...lol
-
I never worry about scent...never stopped the big boys and all the doe from strolling up to the camps year around...I want them use to my scent...I want them to realize my scent year around does not = danger.
-
Back again for lunch and dryer sheets...I thought the black flies were bad...I looked like a crazed maniac when a SWARM of deer fly engulfed me...WTH! They seem to be mainly in the woods(poor deer)...but sweat bees and the yellow jackets are in full force out in the open. I should just get a bug suit and be done with it These sprays and stuff do nothing and I think the sun lotion attracts them... First liming and discing is done on lane way plot...now finish tree cutting and I can seed, top dress lime and drag that area....

Well looks like Elmer has probably figured it out...

Is it an underground service...here's the reason I ask We were getting broun outs ,really high electric bills and breakers tripping, strange smells... Then one day I hear underground explosions and look out the front window to see blue and orange sparks and smoke coming out of the ground 4 ft from the house all electric went out. Our underground service wasn't put in conduit just buried...Well ground moves and shifts and that protective sheath rubbed away and then the wires inside finally did ...touching poof!!!

It looks like she may have some issues about her head and neck in that picture....At least one puncture wound on her head...
-
Back in for my first break...not bad planting the seeds and tilling the area for corn...but then the sun made it over the trees...I needed to get lime and the tractor anyways...picked rocks in the now very shaded lane way plot ...Sun angle and now full leaf out ...which I expected...... get her nicely limed and dragged flat then go to town on trees I've picked out...a few poplar that are 40 ft away and just the right height to block the morning sun and a few half dead ash.. Ya turkey hatches well just in time for everyone that didn't get a chance to mow fields trails and hay to do it now...there have been several hens walking about alone here....I am really hoping due to their SAFE nests having not hatched yet...I give it another 3 weeks before I know for sure, Then there is the polish guy that eats turkey eggs and manages to find the nest on his place...why do people tell me these things?
-
Thank God for shade...I stood out in the sun for 8 hours with 2 breaks yesterday, It felt like someone was trying to put an ice pick through my brain.
-
looks like everything changed and most my plots will be fall ones...so clovers with a nurse crop of Winter grains. Of course turnips..it is what keeps them going over the winter and early spring. I have the shot plot I bought cheap, so will do the new lane way plot in that until I decide on what fall one I want. The front upper plot will be disced and planted today, I hope in the pasture test mix. 2 months behind..but headed to the garden right now.
