Here's the regulations in simple terms... water is never mentioned. I provide watering tanks all over our place where there is no natural water. Have for years many are right out in plain sight of the road so I'm not hiding it. No regulations that I have ever known on watering holes or tubs...I have mentioned them many times. Now they have this liquid deer minerals specifically for watering tank. I saw it a couple of weeks ago and was going to make this post but ,life happened...Now I can't find where I saw the darn thing..but it's out there... I'm not sure how healthy such an additive would be, could it cause the water to go rancid? How could the DEC keep up with managing that? It's not on the ground it's not over food. I have never seen where they list water as food....not thinking I'd want to risk tainting the tanks...I have enough going on cleaning when there is an algae bloom in hot weather. and managing skeeters... So what are your thoughts on it....

Well the Chestnut Hill deliveries made it to NYS and my Daughter picked me up 2 of the Dunstan chestnuts....I now need to go dig the holes for them . She just texted me so late morning Turkey hunt is cancelled...changing clothes and grabbing a shovel instead of gun... By the way here is the shipping scheduled: http://files.constantcontact.com/0c89445a101/606fa13f-3264-496d-ac4c-f4ea5e4befd7.pdf http://www.chestnuthilloutdoors.com/

Cut down trees in a plot or not?

That and if you set them right you have wind snow breaks and I can tell you if you do this and rabbit hunt you will increase your rabbit population. Also if you make them tall enough and maintain the height over the years you will have create cover to move in and out of your stand I have hundreds of yards of them all over our place... also because I make most of my brush blinds wide and tall enough to use a nice lawn chair as my seat...I don't have the deer taking even a second glance at any of my brush blinds. -
Last night chicken burgers, fries and peas...I spread smoked Gouda pimento spread on my bakery sesame roll, tomato, onion, dill and baby spinach.

TF.... You were right...I went to where the birds got caught on cam as I hunted them over a 1/4 mile away yesterday. at 5:30 I hear a faint gobble...first in days and I realize they are down the hill and where I hunted opening day...I was really hoping to get some hens interested in coming up the hill to feed but all that showed was this one. She apparently didn't find the clover nor the worms the crows were pulling out of the ground interesting enough and she left pretty quickly. 4:15 until 8am.. that's all my back and bladder could handle...lol will be going out in just a little bit and hopefully sneak in and have them show up late..Should have known...that's the area I saw them in yesterday afternoon...the oaks are great roost trees there...
-
Thanks that was the plan..just wondered if anyone had an opinion on what these boys might do...continue coming into the clover with those 3 hens or go back to the wood lot hens I encountered today and they had bred earlier.
-
So guys what to do? Go to the clover field blind, down to the May 1 blind, saw the birds in the area when I left the house to do errands. Then there is the slot I was in today and I know they have rooted in the past..

Angel practicing her wheel barrow walking....lol

OK this is bitter sweet..I decided to go out after all, the Tom had gobbled behind the house yesterday at 11:25 so what the hey..Half way there ,no rain gear on, the skies open up...I ducked into the chicken coop blind to see if it would ease up and it did...9:30 I'm settled in against a wet tree, on wet ground , in wet clothes, getting rained on...10: 30 It had eased up and I thought what the heck and I threw the kitchen sink and all the pipes out there...They should have been able to hear me in Geneseo. Just as I finished I hear down below me a hen let loose. Holy Moly she was hot!! We dueled, as she ran up the hill and her head and waddle were dang near as red as a Toms. She was wailing at me then saw my feeding hen. This had her putting, purring, and cutting nearly all at once and she lowered her wings stretched out her neck and did a side stepping scoot to it. OMG I wish I had talent at filming.. Though I was pinning my self so tight to the trees I was giving my self a head ache. I didn't want to get busted like the other day. I had put on my mask and then added black eye shadow around my eyes and black lip stick to hide all my features before I went out..it worked...she bumped the decoy then headed my way. All and all I got her to circle me 3 x's and within 2-3 ft of me 2x's. Our fight went on from 10:30 until she finally went over the ridge at 11:25. I couple of series had me light headed but I held my own against her...I waited and no Toms showed. At 12pm I stood up and she let loose from where she'd come from originally...I quickly left before she made it back up the hill...That's the sweet. Now the bitter...I pulled cards on cams, her front passes weren't caught..did get a deer from last night...Then went over to check other cams when I got home...I hit the goat barn and I hear him...Toms make a distinct alarm sound...I know the date is off..but I also know last check and day to night and this was the last picture in the series..yep that was this morning ...So I know where the 2 Toms I have been hunting were...Right now...I hate trail cameras... BTW ..I'm going to say it...I'm one heck of a talented caller....

19 or so Years ago I had gotten permission to sit in a down fall over our line facing our property and on the edge on another neighbors land . That land we bought several years ago. But I hadn't gotten permission to hunt it then. I called and got a Tom gobbling and strutting on said land, but he wouldn't come any closer then my being able to see the top of his fan. We played a long time when I see movement coming my way. Out of the brush came these hens 3 or 4 as I recall. They were coming in from his direction which I found odd. Now back then admittedly my heart would pound in my throat at such encounters and I'd get shaky. Those hens walked single file right up to the end of my barrel ,cocked their heads looked in and then proceeded to walk back down to that strutting Tom. By the time the last hen did this I was nearly choking trying not to laugh. It had given my mind enough time to think. WTH, did he send them up here to tease me! Vengeful bass turd..Lol...Did he send them to gather more hens? Either way I was really giving him some credit as to being a smart old Tom. Once they got back to him he stopped gobbling and strutting then disappeared. I sat there a long while running the scene of those silly hens literally peeking into my gun barrel single file. No bird but I think #1 hunt. Some of my best hunts involve the antics of hens actually. What are yours?

Boys getting a break today, windy rainy and they had a bunch of people chasing them around this weekend...sitting here listening for gobbles..I hear at least one hen...I think she may have lost a nest...I notice that about now They end up with one or two single girls walking around calling a lot. Where they normally are pretty quiet. Leads me to believe they are eggless hens starting again. May be wrong, good a theory as any

Cut down trees in a plot or not?

You can trim them up and keep them small for a while..brush and small trees are good to break up the wide open feel. Trim them right and you'll have a few decent x-mas trees to cut.. when you get close to cutting..plant New trees ,like semi or dwarf Apple's,cherries late pears or peaches.. even better chestnuts where they won't shade the plot.hazelnut. -
Home made chkcken veggie soup, mixed green salad, hot dinner rolls. Watermelon for me,a dark chocolate candy bar for Mr B. as dessert

Well is it time to pull out Mr full strutting?

Those are just horny tomatoes.....hmmm or perhaps horny grower...hmmmm....

Hope he got it... I sat down to an early lunch ,11:30, next thing I know I hear what I thought was a faint gobble...then 5 mins later much clearer behind the house..very breezy... I quick ran down the trail facing hunting camp...He must have left when the thunder and raIn came through at 9: 30. I still have a chance!

There is no reason for me to bring hate and anger down on you..hmmm assumptions. I have never belittled what slavery was,any more then I would the holocaust. That said I will not if not all day goes surrounding both. really..I don't even know what that last sentence is One more time...That said, I will not ignore all things surrounding both. Now you touched on several things I said: 1) what leaders said.....I did say power mongering, corruption 2) sermons...Well now I really don't need to repeat my position on organized religion, and it's destructive powers 3) Running to Brazil...I never denied it was about money and power..but let's not forget human depravity in general..that's why woman/child slavery and the sex trade thrive today around the world today. Now let's delve into the emancipation proclamation that DID NOT free all slaves. In fact IT DID NOT OUT LAW SLAVERY,fact. It only freed slaves in states that had the nerve to go against the federal government and seceed. It only went after those slave owners in the secession states, lands and holdings. It Do NOT make the slaves citizens nor give them rights other then not to be owned. There were many states holding slaves legally more many years after. All facts that are in black and white,as it were. We can not remember just parts of history. We need to view all events to make the picture whole. Ask yourself this of the Northern politicians were as against slavery as the Southern states were for it. Why did the above occur? They won they had the power.... so think on that. Oh a note to the European slaves..not sure what a difference it makes in shade skin color, they didn't have black lives matter back then. Though I believe and will say I may be slightly off on this..thinking not,but here goes. The reason the trade in slaves was primarily African in nature was. The various Waring tribes were profiting from selling their captors. I do not believe the southern Americans were going there randomly herding black humans like wild horses and shipping them off. It was Africans bartering Africans. If they weren't doing so with Americans, you can sure bet they would and did with other countrys.

EB..That's a nice video, but let me suggest you read some of the Confederate diaries for further understanding. One good one is the diary of a confederate clerk. ..Now I'm on the kindle so can't copy and paste, but April 17th is a good example...These types of remembrance are from the mouths of those that went through it day to day. It allows one to view context. Things happening that led to other things...the feelings of losing face, over powered and sacked. A combination of many complex things that happened even before the vote of succession...Read some of these diaries. Read and try to get a sense of what was actually occurring. Not what single men said in speeches or a few men wrote in papers.
