How's the smell TC? When I had my business I had a few jobs where dogs were skunked and IIRC insurance ponied up in a couple of them. I think I ended getting the bill up to $2-3,000 and that was when deductibles were mostly $250 Lots of ozone, dry cleaning and a few days of airing the joint out they were GTG. Tell the Mrs. to bake a pile of brownies, microwave popcorn and maybe fry up some feesh. All of them will help to change the air in your house. Oh, one more thing; change your furnace air filter out a few times in the next week or so. (if'n you have a forced air furnace)

The thing is; you put a claim in for something just over your deductible amount thinking "hell, I haven't had a claim in 37 years, they owe me". So you get a check from the insurance company and have a rummy your cousin knows patch the roof, pocketing a few bucks. 6 months or a year latetr you get some water in the basement and figure WTH, I'll put in another claim. That's two strikes against you and it goes in your homes CLUE report. https://www.bankrate.com/finance/insurance/clue-report.aspx AND, you're ripe to be dropped like a hot potato and go into a risk pool. Maybe......

If you have a $5000 deductible and the repair is $6000, PAY OUT Of POCKET. I hope you get my drift..... Insurance is for BIG ticket repairs, not for “close to” deductible amounts.

Under a grand, pay out of pocket. Absolutely.......... I don’t care what deductible is.
