I couldn't agree more. It was a beautiful day..............I had a 10am estimate on the west side of downtown Lockport and the homeowner and I just stood there for a few minutes, just marveling at the beauty of the day. Yup, even in downtown Lockport.

Nice.......... What is your wind drift at 368 yards in a 10mph cross wind? How about 439 yards?

If a guy or gal falls from a treestand, falls off climbing sticks or screw ins WITHOUT a harness and safety line they are in grave danger. IF they have a harness on, are connected to a safety line and have a plan they have GREAT chance of living.
-
Sounds like you might have died without that vest and safety line. Good move............
-
No harness and safety rope in use huh?

Yup, the cleaning business was just cover for a MUCH larger operation. I can't say anymore because I fear they are watching.

I owned a Franchised cleaning business. Not much I hadn't seen or done over those 30 years..............including Pygmy's referenced situation. I don't miss a bit of it and was thankful to sell when I did.

That middle picture in the opening post has kind of a sad story behind it regarding the taxidermist who won't be mentioned here......... That bird had probably 23" or more long tail feathers and dandy spurs. MY buddy said if I was EVE going to stuff one, that was the ONE. OK I said, I'll get 'er stuffed. Dropped it off at the taxi's place and didn't here anything for the longest time. How long? Maybe 2 years! Well, I called him and he said he'd been going through a very ugly (ain't they all?) divorce and his lovely skank of an ex hand unplugged a couple of his freezers and he lost a ton of customers stuff but saved MINE! OK.....................a few months later he calls and said my bird was GTG. I went and picked it up and knew right away it wasn't MY bird! Oh well, he was/is a friend and I took it in stride. Life goes on............... I kept that little pecker head in my family room for probably 10 years then a few years ago I gave it to the Buffalo Gun Center. It hangs on their store walls along with a dandy spring gobbler (right over the gun safe display) and as far as I'm concerned, they ain't coming back here.

Glad things are going well. Scary stuff, I know. For me it was the opposite-owned my own business for 30 years and now working in a business completely unrelated to what I was doing. So far, so good. I enjoy 85% of it.....................don't ask about the 15%. Have fun at the cabin............

Nice job editing your original post..............it's certainly legible now, unlike the first rendition. I get a real kick out of people starting a "goodbye" thread, usually they are back in short order. When you do come back, let me know what "I am aware that I am mostly the odd man out. To most I live in the you do not count part of NY" means. Funny thing, the guys that live on Long Island or in NYC seem be able to make it on a New York State focused web site, not sure what your beef is on that?? Hopefully the fun returns for you, somehow/somewhere. I'll end with something I've added so many times in my posts that I'd likely be stuck eating bologna sandwiches and drinking PBR if I had to pay for them...........

What caliber bullet (6mm?) and velocity are you talking? What range are you zeroed at?

STOP. Just STOP........... They won't listen Dan; no way no how. They'll have to find out with age and experience.

Archery hunting has always been my first "love" in the fall so pheasant hunting would come before and after that. I'd try and do a hunt or two a year with the dog then as I was younger and had more drive for that type of stuff. It was as much for the dog as for me, I enjoyed the training quite a bit and without preserve birds I'd have been sunk.............
-
Yes, same dog. Krista.......born 4/17/1987 died in January 2000. Not positive on those dates but pretty darn close............

Pheasant hunting...........I know there has been plenty a talk on here about the New York State raised pheasants. I've never hunted (that I know of) the state released birds but have killed lots of private preserve raised birds, hunted on those preserves and on private ground. My first cock bird was killed back in the 70's on my friends land, licensed as a preserve for over 50 years now! For many years he would buy a couple hundred birds each season from a local breeder and hunt them over his labs. He would have friends and business clients in for the hunts during the fall. Once deer season started the birds were never bothered, except by the numerous predators. Very very few ever made it to the spring but occasionally they would. I killed one such bird in early October many years ago. It was a beautiful bird with gorgeous, long tail feathers. Here's a picture of the results from another private land hunt. My buddy in Arcade licensed a portion of his land as a preserve for a number of years. We didn't release many birds over the years here but did enjoy some great shoots when we did...........I think this would have been the early 90's. Good times........

In honor of the Lunar New Year, we had Chinese tonight. No guff....................

Diamond Naturals Brand 12 years now. Started with ?? (can't remember what the name was) but then switched to their Chicken & Rice formula when she was 7 or 8 IIRC. No fears, she survived the scare many years ago and has done pretty well with it.

That's neat! I wonder if yours is older than mine?? Seems like I remember somebody saying he made them out of the cans that concentrated OJ came in?? Well made anyway you slice 'em but dusty now!
-
That is awesome! If he ever wants to do a rustic cabin/structure, let me know. I have a nice collection of used ones started...................

Nice, I got the subtle "hint".
