  1. Why do you suspect you have penetration issues? Is it a shot placement issue perhaps? The handgun theory of "it's better to put 2 .380's on target than miss with a .45" should hold true with archery too. You really don't need to shoot more than 60 pounds unless you're hunting out west at greater distances.
  2. I shot a switchback for 13 years and never lost a deer. It's an amazing bow for it's time and still holds up well today. Good luck!
  3. I think overshooting can be bad too. I make it a goal to shoot a quiver of my 10-12 arrows at my 3 targets once a day. not enough to overtax and develop crutch tendencies, but enough to lock in that muscle memory. This year I've shot a little more as I added a nose button and generally I'll shoot a little more if I change anything in my rig.
  4. well after gostkovski's night, maybe he feels a little better haha.
  5. i'm not familiar with the man. curious why you say he's a douche. I also found it helped me find my jaw anchor more consistently as I know where "vertically" i'm placing my nose on the string. But yes, mostly helped with left/right for me at 30+ yards. Instead of just sort of placing on the side of my nose i'm finding a consistent spot on the tip. yes, but I do like the poke in the nose. $17 isn't the end of the world for me.
  6. in fairness that one kick was good and that second kick was laces forward... but yeah there will be a lot worse weather conditions and much more pressure kicks. I hope he doesn't get the yips now.
  7. that houston game took a few years off my life
  8. i'd say more of cam newton given some meat on the bone he has vs rg3, but yeah I don't disagree that it's not sustainable.
  9. i think there's some truth to this, and i also remind myself that it's the first real action they've had. no pre-season so there's some rust. I also think they saw something in the jets D which led to maybe more running than normal. He missed a couple key throws, but i was very happy to see him and Diggs on the same page and generally good vision and accuracy. if they can get the run game going, allen will run less for sure.
  10. i was shocked and embarrassed with myself on how hard this was for only 45 minutes last night. Lets be honest, unless it's my team playing theres a lot of downtime between plays in the NFL and i'm usually scrolling on the phone for something.
  11. none of this makes sense. you can't even hunt "inside" a field. I bet he got lost and the operator couldn't hear him yelling or he had some sort of medical emergency pre incident. Still horrible all around.
  12. yeah i can't do that either, now with live scoring fantasy and group texts, although i did pause the sunday night game for a bit to help put the kids to bed. It was nice to fast forward the whole halftime.
  13. where did you see they don't expect high take? I have to imagine the only reason is to increase take, and in comparison that could reduce some of the other calls the DEC has to go to.
  14. the bar owner is still probably correct in their micro bubble. My point all along has been that the few grand they bring in extra from snowmobilers doesn't mean the overall financial impact is greater to the state, even if a few dozen bars benefit.
  15. your argument is that your anecdotal perception must be more accurate than facts/stats, even if said facts are cherry picked. Come on now man. Phade's best point aside from the research is the north vs southern zone, which is clearly and probably carefully considered in all of this.
  16. and if we could start baiting for bears, image the cash that'd bring in! haha
  17. Because most of the people on my social media feed that are "boycotting the nfl" never watched in the first place. Sunday was great, there is no pre-game air time, it's just straight to the kickoff. Not a peep of anything and good football on sunday ticket. Go Bills!
  18. how many camps that are sled only are there compared to hunting camps? how many leases are there going to farmers for hunting vs access fees for sleds? how many hunters also have an atv, tractor, utv etc my bow cost more than your suit and helmet again i'm playing devils advocate. i used to own a sled but sold it as the opportunities to ride just weren't there for me. I think they're fun as hell, please don't take my points as being anti-sled. I'm still just not sure they dominate the impact on local economy over that of a hunter is all.
  19. was glad to see some live football, with fans to boot. I'm not one to get too bothered and boycott shit, but man the first 10 minutes was like "enough is enough" here. It reminds me of the christian street corner preacher or the PRIDE parade. Like dudes, you have my support but I'm getting really sick of that shit being pushed in face constantly to the point where your message is starting to crossover from "please help" to "feel bad about yourself". I wasn't happy about kneeling, but I could get past it. 2 anthems? idk... Those fans weren't booing unity btw, they were booing because they paid good money and put their health at risk to come watch a football game, not a social justice campaign. They just wanted you to kick the damn ball off.
  20. i think i'm not making my argument clear. I don't disagree at all on bars and restaurants. My point is more in-line with comparing the bars and restaurants the rely on snowmobilers (lets be honest, they're just getting by as is and there are less and less of them today than there were even 20 years ago) vs the impact a hunter may have by buying and leasing land, purchasing licenses, equipment, gas etc. I truly don't know the answer and I in no way want any small business to suffer and totally understand their protest. I was simply just asking for another look at what some claim to be a greater local financial impact than the other and supporting evidence, not anecdotal.
  21. yep you and i shared our misery last season. I too remember having only a few days in the woods when I was younger. I think generally I'm neutral on this proposal. Part of me would maybe support another $10 fee for the extended season to help generate conservation revenue. I'm sure some of you will baulk at that, but it's not like this is a new fee for something you enjoyed for free. This is a new fee for something extra "if you want it". Heck, don't even put that fee into the general conservation fund, dedicate it to public land access projects or something.
  22. oh i'm on board, but i'm a data guy, not an anecdotal guy when it comes to looking at overall economic impact. What does a hunting lease/cabin generate vs the local bar? Every year I read about a drunk snowmobiler who dies. How impactful are those few hole in the wall bars in the remote areas of the state vs a whole state of deer hunters? I have a place up north, I get it and I'm just playing devils advocate as I'm not sure that the few bars outweigh the other puts and takes from the hunting community. I do agree that they're well organized, I know a few members who are in clubs. Us hunters make our own clubs to fight other clubs over what they can and cannot shoot a deer with haha.
  23. I'm not saying you're wrong, but I'm not sure that's true. I'd be genuinely curious what you could share to support this. what do us hunters do? parachute in and eat grubs?
  24. I understand the idea here though. For some, hunting is a disease. We will keep setting that alarm and putting off other things to go sit another 3 or 4 hours in the woods until you tell us that legally we can't. Last year was a tough grind for me. I kept trudging out to try and punch that buck tag and by the end I didn't enjoy it. There's a small part of me that wishes someone took the choice away from me. If that makes any sense.
  25. for 1/2 of america it makes sense. but the other half has their brain misfiring when they read 4 potential options and then they start sending angry emails and letters to the editor. I think dumbing it down is the sad reality of where we're at today.
