  1. love it man. these are the kinds of respectful debates and disagreements we should be having. not red vs blue or christian vs islam.
  2. no, but like him and many others we just tune in less and less. See sweet ole Bill's comment. Personally I'd take the later. Is what it is though. Little to no mods, an absent owner. Expecting change or growth is a silly idea with those variables in place.
  3. you don't enjoy 70's kungfu and random southern rock videos mixed in with your trail cam photos? 10 years ago at least you and I were arguing about buck beds... which is at least on topic hope all is well phade, miss your contributions.
  4. another shot in the dark vote for mange. not sure that is common with deer though. also, like humans, it could just be a skin disorder/condition.
  5. deportation/citizenship path for those here is not the same issue as managing the border for who isn't already here. I for one would be open to a pathway program AND much stricter border controls. Yet, democrats want open borders and a pathway. Republicans want closed border and deportation. so we get nowhere.
  6. the immigrants who came over on a boat signed up to become citizens legally and paid their share in taxes as a result. I'm not for shutting down the borders, but I am for legal immigration, you know the system that's been in place for decades that allows (iir w/o googling it) 3% immigration based on our census so that we can do it safely and sustainably.
  7. well I have to kill one first, but I wouldn't mind taking the drive for a discount and to help you out
  8. While I don't seek out opposite minded people, I have quite a few friends who think very differently than me, none are anti-hunter of course. Can't have that I think it's important to keep people of opposite views close. You not only understand their position better, but you can help share yours. It creates a good dialogue. Now some of my very close friends have become so entrenched in their anti-trump rage that it has strained our friendship, and to them I've always reminded them that our friendship was not born out of politics, and just because i voted for the man does not mean I like everything he does. I'm not a MAGA hat wearing, trump bumper sticker guy and they know that and eventually they come back around and remember that despite what the media and their close liberal circle tells them, I'm not a misogynistic racist because I lean right. If you alienate these people their circle has less and less of "us" in them and they start to believe these things to their core. For example, it's a widely held belief that all democrats are anti-gun. And while their party may take that stance, there are many dems on this forum that don't share that opinion, same as many republicans believe in climate change. The party system sucks. To double down on this, I have a friend from high school that's been out of the closet for some time. He lives in LA as an actor. Yes he ticks a few stereotype boxes haha. He's coming home for a few months this fall and asked if I could teach him and his partner to shoot as they're interested in owning firearms for self defense, but want to "trained" in the safety and operation of them. They're both very liberal and very anti-trump, but because I'm not an offensive asshole I now have the opportunity to educate and expand their view. So maybe they still vote Biden and Harris, but also maybe the party base shifts a little the more and more we try every chance we can. I'd challenge everyone on here to try and do the same (this whole post wasn't directed at you culver )
  9. yeah that one was all my fault and i regret it now. some stuff triggers me though and littering and stating it's ok because of law in texas is a big one. the flip side of the coin is that people who post a LOT and post a LOT about non-hunting stuff will leave themselves open to some poking and prodding. Although, my favorite hunting related one for sure was the gun for turkey and crossbow for deer or some version of that. That one got us all pouring over the regs haha.
  10. always seems that the bad and ugly have nothing to do with hunting
  11. PS best of luck rattler. You were a solid member who could always agree to disagree with in a respectful manner. Like many others, I too left and came back because of family and I long for the day that I can GTFO.
  12. a better way of saying it is that there will always be people who disagree on topics both minor, major and of course specific and broad. That's forum life everywhere. This forum is unique in that it's not super large, and numbers seem to be decreasing and not growing. Much of it to do with a clique high school group approach to disagreement. One member disagrees with another and then the friends jump in and double, triple team etc. Take that biden/harris thread for example. I don't share the OPs views, but the teaming up creates a divisive atmosphere that nobody wants to be a part of. Let members hash their stuff out 1 on 1 and if it doesn't concern you, stay out of it. If it's a misunderstanding or old beef, don't add your 0.02. Hunter numbers continue to drop and when we should be united, even if we disagree over politics, religion or aspects of game management. This site is very far from inviting to new members, and that opinion is easily backed up by the names and faces you see join and those you see leave.
  13. interestingly enough, many of my liberal friends are more upset as they want to defund the police and he picked a cop https://www.forbes.com/sites/nicholasreimann/2020/08/11/biden-picked-a-cop-some-on-left-slam-choice-of-kamala-harris-for-vp/#3c1b14a92b23
  14. i have an .30-06. Looking for a smaller youth rifle.
  15. no luck for me so far. Would have been hilarious if i won the crossbow though. A .243, .270 and 20 are all on my list of guns I'd like in prep for the growing army of boys I have.
  16. I'm ok with either really. They both have their pros and cons. My main point in bringing it up was simply that in 2020, both archers and crossbowman lose a weekend to the orange army
  17. oh big bucks can and will be killed in early October. Generally speaking though I would prefer that last weekend of archery to the 2 weeks of October. I've killed some decent bucks early and I generally will sit 2 to 3 times because I want to be in the woods of course. I do not like having to rush to get them hung and cooled though. A good cold November hang puts a smile on my face I think a lot of it is also an uneducated deer. It would be interesting to know or see a study on those guys who kill in the first week or 2 if they had the same results starting on 10/16. Know what I mean?
  18. I tuned in the other day and heard Steve Haussmann back. What the heck is going on?
  19. that's not true at all. And the fact that you, a non deer hunter or archer feel informed enough to speak on it is laughable. The 2 extra weeks were concessions for the youth season AND, and I will emphasize AND, because we lost the last weekend of the season. Remember, the gun opener was always on a Monday. As many of the vets on this board will confirm, the last weekend before that Monday is always in and around the rut and one of the best weekends to fill an unpunched tag. I can promise you, not many here spend a lot of times in the woods sweating, stinking up good stands and swatting mosquitoes the first 2 weeks of October. There is little movement for those that don't have them patterned them over a plot.
  20. I told y'all I'd see you in the fall as this place can get pretty toxic sometimes, but someone tipped me off to this so I figure I'll defend myself. As stated a billion times by me, I'm not a fan of crossbows for those who are not disabled or elderly. Mostly because I believe archery is meant to be a challenge and isn't supposed to be easy. Bill is a case study on this. Doesn't and wont hunt unless you make it easy enough for him. Do crossbows affect where I hunt? No. But man if I was hunting public land it'd bum me out to see that added pressure from guys who may not take the same precautions with scent and reducing their impact. Or maybe public land hunters can use that in their favor? idk. At the end of the day, and if it was my vote I'd leave the current season just the way it is. I wouldn't even repeal it. But I wouldn't ever vote full inclusion. Instead I'd push for an age and disability program, even if the later was easy to abuse. If you're not disabled and have the time and energy to make an appointment, pay your copay and convince a doctor that you need his signature... well Joe Biden has a campaign for you!
  21. nevermind. i wont stoop to your level. i'll delete that comment as you still don't seem to get it. I'll sign out now. see yall in the fall.
