  1. what's this posted land you speak of? I've never heard of such a thing during turkey season.
  2. those grass clippings hahah but yeah 10 days of course is way too long. I'm just saying that I don't believe everyday is necessary.
  3. i think it'd be cool if there was a licking branch and a scrape on that bush on the left too haha
  4. Usually... in the spring we get enough rain that you shouldn't have to water too often. I'll probably water today as we had some good rain monday but that's been it. It's more important early on like you said to establish, but daily? No way...
  5. what's the science behind not in the evening? that's always when I do it so less is evaporated.
  6. you have to pull it with a "key" and yeah put it back in. Waste of $190 and i sold mine on ebay.
  7. same. way too many false alarms even after adjusting it. gates and supervision. our 2 youngest need floats on even when they're not swimming if they're going to be anywhere near the pool.
  8. told ya! haha i can only say that though because i lost so much this year haha
  9. it is down south in Mississippi, and many other states. sorry for not clarifying.
  10. would be interesting to hear the other side for sure. I've never felt the need to shoot a dog even when i've been hunting and it would have been legal. Had it been coming after me, of course that's a different story. Hope her dog was collard, or a little bit of the blame (not all of it) is on them.
  11. I've done some of this style at my old house. I think for me it was ok in small doses and put a few nice doe in the freezer, with some chances at some real trophies. It's not my preference either and I'm not sure how "proud" i'd be with a shoulder mount of a suburban deer next to some of the others I have. That's not an attempt to disparage anyone hunting like that, i've done it and do it still. It's just a little less of the hunting spirit than I'd like.
  12. your hair color doesn't match your screen name! haha congrats man!
  13. You've hunted 2x as much as me, but at least had some actions. I've had a tough year as well and feel your pain. Coming off a bad deer season, i'm in one hell of a lull right now.
  14. Bitched out yesterday, ready to go today. 4am, nope let’s get up at 6 for a later hunt. Nope. Just don’t have the drive this year with the lack of activity. Ugh Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. 5 pounds of breakfast venison and 5 pounds of snack sticks, trying cheese for the first time. A few hours in at 180 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Struggle is real right now. Hunted 3.5 days with barely a gobble. Tomorrow looks good. No plans all day. Neighbor kid is hunting. Dammit I just can’t decide... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. that makes me feel better, mine look the same
  18. a trick i learned down south, not sure if it's right or not, but i water at night. More water stays in the soil with less evaporation.
  19. don't. just don't. this may be the longest he's had a name since he was Bill Schmit.
  20. i'd agree with jpastor. I stopped using tom's a long time ago as I'm just not that good and they scare more birds away then they bring in. So unless you're trying to fill tag #2 with a rope dragger, i'd stay with a hen or 2. I might not even put my jake out next hunt.
  21. mine's in this thread, there's a guy/company in NY that makes it, let me know if you're interested and i can dig up the info. Be sure to trim your fan real good and put some 20 mule team borax rubbed in, pin it to some cardboard in the position you'd like it.
  22. i've never done eggplant until this year. They've been in pods for weeks and they're really not that big. Is that normal?
