yep i think that's it as well.

the long and short of it is that bromine builds up a bank when it dies off. so chlorine will regenerate it and because the water cant ever fully get ride of the bromine you'd need a complete water change and for a 26k gallon inground, that would also require a liner change (i'm told you can't empty an inground without damaging the liner? idk) and filter sand etc. You dont want any bromine left of your chlorine chemistry is f'd for life. So there's a saying, once a bromine pool, always a bromine pool.
-
it ends up working out ok. little maintenance with a brominator and no chlorine smell or sting. To change it out, i'd need to replace the liner and basically everything else. there's some fun chemistry with chlorine and bromine that i wold rather not type out. lol.

it is, depends on how fragile your plants are. sometimes heavy rain and wind can hurt new/smaller crops that haven't started from the seed in the soil.
-
i was thinking maybe today too, but then heavy rain for us tomorrow means I'll wait till saturday i think. beans died again but the corn looks like it might have survived t

damn. mine opened up green... but it always does as the previous owner decided bromine was the way to go. Not that we need to swim anytime soon... 50* water temps!

I ended my day without a gobble heard. The hen came in to the decoys at 30 yards. stretched her neck for what seemed like ages, and no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't get Kaitlin to turn back into Bruce. She ate bugs in the freshly tilled field all the way till around 9:30 when I had to leave. She was about 150 yards away and spooked but I had no choice. Not a peep from her or horny tom or jake to be had.

there's a method where you cut the wings off and throw him a cooler with boiling water and shake it around for a few minutes. hang him and he plucks super easy. To each his own, but I think breasting out wastes a bunch of good meat. there's some good youtubes on this method. Most importantly, congrats on the bird and thank you bill for being the best kind of hunter, a mentor.
-
she was mostly good. she also was full of nonsense. Yep, i still feel the same years later. I never would have wished for her to leave though. I just can't not call bs when I see it, over and over and over again.

How long and hard must one look through binos before a bird grows a beard? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Just had a hen work the whole way across the field to my deeks. Totally silent... if the real thing doesn’t bring them in... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I find that with deer I’m sitting a lot. Turkey I almost never leave the woods without a good hike. Maybe that’s part of it? I also find that I’m always restless before a turkey hunt. Deer I get that way before opening day of gun but not so much other days. So the point there, is that quality of sleep is also important. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

A cool crisp morning for sure and dammit it’s getting lighter early. Not a gobble yet which continues to perplex me. The farmers did finally till they fields which were fallow last year. Anyone have history on what a turkey would do with that? Part of me is happy because the weeds were getting high making it hard to get a decent setup and also knowing they’ll plant something for the deer is a good sign. Just don’t know if they’ll come out to a freshly tilled field or if it will help, hurt or not matter at all. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Mines still going at a mow every 5 days or so in the front son. Back shaded area has only been mowed twice, but it’s also low and wet so I try to stay off it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

at least know you're not alone. this has been a very odd year. Yeah the conditions haven't been great, but when they are a lot of us still aren't getting the activity we normally do.
-
yeah same boat here. I try my best to get ready for bed by 8:30, but that turns into 9:30 and by the time I really start trying to nodd off it's past 10. And I don't do well on 6 hours of sleep so it kills my day. I know, I know i'm soft but it's still MY reality.
-
what's up with you guys giving up with 17 days to go?
-
love the show and the podcast. How he ties hunting into food, soul searching, comradery is brilliant. It does a lot to help insulate us from the anti's usual attacks. When you make a 30 minute episode, dont kill anything and still enjoy the episode, that's when you're doing it right.
