  1. sounds like a good resolution. sure would have looked cool in the man cave though
  2. I can tell from your lack of using paragraphs that reading is difficult for you, so let me dumb it down. Most bow hunters enjoy the solidarity, natural movement and peace and quiet of the season. I saw deer running all over during youth weekend flagging. Certainly didn't have 0 impact on my weekend, although I did shoot a decent 8. But I think you're not clear on the impact hunters have on deer movement... but then again you've made it clear you have your mind made up about bow hunters so I'm probably just wasting my time. You did not address my statement regarding the last weekend of bow season given to gun. If I took a poll of what bowhunters would rather have (2 extra mosquito weeks, or a weekend of prime rut) I'm certain I know which would win. All in all my point was simply that the archery season has been changed and tinkered with quite a bit the last 5 years more than it has ever changed in all the years before that. The only change to the firearm season was an earlier opener. And many hunters and stores relying on this weekend have said it hurt their business.
  3. your hatred for horns takes new levels every day. I do not like the whole story and how it's played out. I'd love for some 14 year old to shoot it during open season.
  4. the purest definition of professional vs amateur is that someone is willing to pay you for whatever it is you're doing.
  5. I agree. But mostly because those bucks aren't attainable. But I salivated at some huge bucks I had on cam because they were attainable.
  6. we're vocal because we are the only group who has lost anything. Gun hunters have nothing to be vocal about. If we were to move the opening of gun back a week for a special crossbow season that would have been ok by a lot of bowhunters... would probably sell a lot of crossbows to us compound shooters who want to stay in the woods. But do you think gun hunters would remain silent?
  7. the bow season was extended yes. but not till 3 years after the last (sometimes best weekend because of the rut) of bow season was removed for the Saturday gun opener. Then the youth weekend was added, and now crossbows. I know this sounds like whining. But all 3 of these points are facts. So short of a mosquito infested extra 2 weeks in October. What has archery done to hurt gun hunters? Other than increasing license sales adding to additional funds to the NYSDEC to help manage the sport we love. If you really want to complain about the gun season, compare the length of our gun season to those of some of the more sought after states. Some are only a week long.
  8. i have yet to see one person on this board put down another for meat hunting. I think pretty much all self-admitted bow hunters fill their freezer first. I do not see us "complain" about lack of deer... in fact I have seen the argument that bow hunters are shooting all the big bucks and leaving none for gun hunters a few times on this board. The young buck and AR discussions come from all hunters. Do not forget that 95% of bowhunters also gun hunt. Do we tend to be antler crazed? Sure. A bowhunter is usually a little more dedicated and infatuated with deer hunting... it's why we started bowhunting in the first place. To get more time in the woods because we're so freaking addicted.
  9. d&dh is one of the only remaining shows i DVR. They spend most of the show on education. I admit to also watching buck commander but really because it's just good entertainment.
  10. same goes for most vets I've met. The loud and bragging vets I've met I found rarely saw any real combat.
  11. Perhaps some rules and laws have changed. And there are probably no black and white cut and dry rules, so I would also agree with Doc on being leery of lawyers. I think there is a difference perhaps to someone sneaking around your backyard and someone you give permission to hunt your woods. i can think of cases where burglars have fallen into excavation sites that were not roped off and won their suits. I have not heard of hunters falling into holes and suing, but I do know that Honeywell patrols Tulley valley because of the sink holes Allied Signal created from sulfur mining. Regardless, that is clearly a booby trap in its most black and white form.
  12. not in today's DNA. Everyone wants the attention and the credit.
  13. if someone hurts themselves on your property and it was not "fenced in". You are liable. Silly but true law. The violator must commit and obvious act to tresspass and bypass security in order for you to be excused of liability. It is why most towns and insurance companies require gates and fences by pools.
  14. OG being real and him supposedly hunting it still does nothing to excuse the past crimes.
  15. As odd as this might be to hear from me, I believe if you're going to legalize them and consider them archery equipment and a big driver being herd management (particularly in urban areas) then they should be allowed everywhere.
  16. Yeah I got the first part but have been out of the loop for a week. So no updates?
  17. got it. I guess I don't get it. Archery is archery right?
  18. In the south you could legally sell these in the walmart parking lot for cash. Those are some great guns. I'd love to see some pics of the boxes and guns. I think it'd help your sale versus posting a sheet of paper.
  19. Good point regarding unions voting democratic. Wonder how that tastes now
  20. Shot one on accident a few springs ago. Happened real quick and I'm not an experience turkey hunter. I felt bad, as I know the numbers are down. Still tasted great though.
  21. I do work in the south. While the wages are less, the insurance is not. And the cost of living is. Does not just apply to just guns. Wake up and notice unions, high taxes and unfriendly regulations are driving manufacturing to these states. Remington is not alone, but urban centers continue to vote in liberals so they can get hand outs and not work. Win win.
  22. I applaud this article, especially from a reputable magazine. The title is great, the use of the photo from shumar at a gay pride parade is great too.
  23. I read in the very unbiased paper known as the outdoor news that crossbows are excluded from Monroe county as well. Anyone else see this or confirm it?
  24. hipster or not. If you play by the rules and respect the unwritten ones I welcome you to our sport. Pick up your litter, your shell casing, make clean ethical shots, respect property boundaries, give 100% to track a wounded deer etc. and I don't care what political affiliation, race, gender or sexuality you are or what you do for a living or what clothes you wear. Follow the rules and you're welcome to hunt beside me. unless of course you're using a crossbow
