Where to set up at a new farm?? Advice please
Five Seasons replied to regulat0r's topic in Bow Hunting
transition areas between fields are good spots, you just want to be careful they're not bedding areas and they probably are. I would recommend hunting the edge of them. if you disturb their beds they'll start shacking up elsewhere. Deer need a spot where there is no pressure and a lot of hunters dont realize this and put stands all over their property. Hunt the transition zones between food and bed. -
It's the fair chase argument. It's also that as hunters sometimes we are portrayed in a negative light about what we do. Baiting an animal turns things even more in the hunters favor and appears to some/most that you're no longer really hunting, but instead you're killing. I think it varies by region as well. Some have seen thinning herds and others are overpopulated. It's not a cut and dry topic. Like some, if it became legal i'm not sure I'd get down. Same reason I don't feel a need to hunt with dogs or with a crossbow in Mississippi. legal or not, it's not for me.

A little overreaction I think. They're the best boots I've ever worn and I'm sure the company didn't do it intentionally. They're not stupid.

that's a good cover. A little surprised Barnett didn't sponsor the cover though
-
except that at least it's a hunting topic... in 1 thread. Not 7.

that's a pretty rough generalization that everyone with wall hangers is a cheater... sounds like you've been drinking some haterade. I'm not promoting baiting, just not a fan of your last comment.

mechanicals have come a long way. the new rages look even better. I would hate to lose a trophy buck because of a broadhead issue, but I'll say that i've never stuck a deer with a rage that got away. There is no replacement for a poor shot, but i've had a handful that weren't perfect and they all died. If you're really worried go for fixed, you can't go wrong.

amen. that place lost me years ago I don't care what they change going forward, the slap in the face to hunters in exchange for camping supplies can't be undone.

once in college.

any changes to how they look with the new crossbow rules?

always a great option. I hunt a few spots where the drag is a breeze. I hunt some others where it's either a nightmare or a lot of work. It's a bitch comment, but honestly sometimes you decide not to because of the work, or the fact that you're going to disrupt an area, or even possibly shoot a doe that might have a buck on her trail if you wait. For archery, the other factor is cost of an arrow and broadhead. I know these are all crap excuses, but they're reasonable reasons why.

the problem is us trophy bow hunters. we don't shoot doe and it's all our fault. so i'm told anyhow.

all the stuff i normally bring in the woods plus some pb&j sandwhiches and water bottle and maybe a monster energy drink. I always have some powerbars, lighter, toilet paper and knife plus calls, tags, marking tape, flashlight, gutout gloves, phone, zipties and pen.

That's all I ever do at the big boxes especially during the off season. What are they slashing prices on to make room. Only time I shop during the season when nothing is on sale is if I need something immediately and can't buy online. Trying to buy most of my stuff when the season ends saves a lot of money.

That's a decent deal. I want a 30-06 and I'm trying to decide between savage and ruger

so because you and I butt heads, you discount the fact that at least I post about hunting? why don't you just hang out at prison planet and hide in your bunker? I've yet to see you or VJP actually post about something you've done to free us from our dictatorship. At least Bubba is out there doing stuff.

Political Threads Feeding to Recent Topics List
Five Seasons replied to phade's topic in General Chit Chat
the forum defaults to portal. you wont see anytihng under new content unless you select forum at the top, and then select it. Within there, you then get options as well. Timeframe, since your last visit, just stuff you've posted in etc. -
I know... and i hear that argument a lot. But because I genuinely do enjoy this site and especially enjoy it in the fall I would like to see it grow. The kind of nonsense brought on by some will push new contributors away. I am not to blame for some of the nonsense I know, but at least my nonsense has been related to crossbows and other HUNTING debates. I think new members can at least understand that... I also think most of that BS is now over with, so it's to ARs and food plots! haha.

Why Do I Need a License to take my grand kids hunting
Five Seasons replied to Youngre911's topic in General Hunting
skimmed this thread, so I'm not sure if this was part of your question or has been answered, and I guess it's a question of my own. I don't think you need a license if you're not carrying a firearm, similar to being in a boat with others fishing and you not having a pole. Your grandson would, but that's part of teaching him the "right thing to do". But lets be honest, we were all 6 years old shooting birds in the woods with our bb guns were we not? -
I don't see where I have ever disagreed with you or shown that I don't care. You're totally missing the point. There other plenty of political forums out there. http://lmgtfy.com/?q=political+forums What I can't figure out, is why you come to a hunting website and never post about hunting. Wouldn't it be weird if all I did was post about apple trees? Not that the occasional apple tree post isn't relevant to deer hunting, but if that's all I posted about you might wonder why I didn't just join a forum dedicated to apple trees. Bubba and I butt heads, but at least he's active in what he's passionate about. All you and papist do is post links and go on rants. Bubba also posts quite a bit about hunting, and at least is political stuff is relevant to the safe act which affects hunting... not about obama's approval rating.

hunting wayne and onondaga counties my whole life with just a 12 gauge, I cannot say I've ever had a devastating shot on a deer that ruined meat... (that wasn't my fault) haha. In the vitals and in the gray area around it the lightfield sabots have always made a nice clean whole.
