  1. That's a pretty bold claim without very much to back it up...
  2. Really like the red. Bear rug is on my bucket list. What's a rug like that set someone back?
  3. I love the hevi-13 out of my 835. Never do I seem to feel the kick with the adrenaline going... Patterning is a different story haha
  4. If I remember correctly, you were previously just a gun hunter right?
  5. CPD, you probably summed it up best for me... although the dark gray cloud that last for 6 months can be a bit much as well. It's not the snow for me... it's the lack of sun.
  6. Sometimes I wonder too, that to really answer this question. Whether it's to appreciate where you're from, or to understand that the grass is greener... that you'd have to have spent some time elsewhere.
  7. are there tropical islands with 130 class and up whitetails?
  8. Perhaps the wording is wrong. I know some people who were born in certain countries who have done things that result in people being oppressed or beaten (North Korea). Perhaps these people (if not brainwashed) are embarrassed or saddened that they live where they do. When traveling and meeting other gun owners are you embarrassed as a gun owner from NY?
  9. Kind of how I feel. I think there certainly is nationalistic pride, hometown pride etc. But I was also born here by circumstance, and I think many stay because that's where are family is. Some leave and want to come back... but i'm not sure it's because of the state. I think it's family. I personally can't stand the politics and taxes of the state. I'll always be proud of having a place in the Adirondacks, but I find it hard to brag to others about our state.
  10. When you travel, or if you've ever moved or plan to move would you be proud to say you're from NY, or were born and raised in NY? Being from the south is a badge of pride many southerns wear, and I'm not sure I feel the same about the Empire state...
  11. More innocent people die from drivers impaired by texting and drinking, then guns. There are laws against both yet people continue to do it, because we all ignore the fact that there are some bad people out there and there are some stupid people out there and we've gone so far in a society to protect these people that Darwin is no longer weeding them out. Not to say the world was a better place centuries ago, but the stupid and lazy did not survive and did not breed to continue to spread their useless genes. Now the welfare cycles are generations long. We are our own worst enemy. All the legislation in the world will never protect the death of innocent people. We can highly regulate guns and ammo and still criminals and nuts will get them or some other weapon to inflict pain. We can outlaw drunk and texting while driving and still daily people will wreck their cars and kill others. I'm not sure there is really an answer.
  12. I doubt that, but it's possible, however "he's the seller". Does anyone know how much liability falls on the buyer? I imagine more is on the seller. Anyhow, I bet that because this is for his grandfather, and he has a life, it's probably going to be a long process (especially in NY) to catalog, research values and get all the paperwork and photos together.
  13. Sounds awesome. If I was loaded it'd be something I'd like to do, but not something on the bucket list. Will be awaiting pics!
  14. I'm sorry. but the founding fathers comparison really did make me chuckle. Carry on gentleman.
  15. you're just letting your mind read what it wants. Plenty of horrific murders every day committed by people without autism. Plenty made by people who don't play videogames. You can't cherry pick your stories and make correlations. Even scientific studies attempting to find statistical links are often proven wrong. While I believe certain factors in a child's mental health and most importantly their upbringing will increase the likelihood of violence, there is never a one shoe fits all.
  16. Yeah because nobody here knows doc... lol HAHAHAHAHHA
  17. chevy or ford. I have never had an issue with my rage heads, even the early models. I now shoot the chisel tips, but I hear they have a newer version out that I might try.
  18. Where did I say that? Did you read the part where I shot a nice 8 point that very weekend? It was my father however, who chose a stand that has always done well in the early season that had spooked deer all around him. and it's obvious I could care less what you think. If someone wants to rant and rave about bowhunters and make a point, he/she should know that many wont even read it if it's a novel long and hard to read. Maybe you should start bowhunting again? I see more deer during bow than I ever see during gun. Guns go off and they hide. More pressure could be sending them out of your areas.
  19. the only reason this would fuel new gun control is because of the innocent people dying. Every day this happens in the hood, but no longer even makes the front page.
  20. Is grammar not ok because it's a hunting site? Must we portray a stereotype? Nobody here was complaining at all. It was you who went off unprovoked. I'll ask for a third and final time. Regardless of how you perceive the impact of what bow hunters gave up; what have gun owners ever given up or had changed? They got a longer season, many counties have been adding rifles, and now crossbows. Those are 3 additions. What have they lost? I really am not trying to complain, just making a point as you see, I too am a gun hunter. Most bow hunters are. The same can't be said the other way around.
