  1. Theres always Lady Luck. But work hard at scouting, practice and minimizing movement, scent etc. in the stand and get in at the right time. Lots you can do to increase your odds. But they all taste the same. Congrats on a nice buck.
  2. It's the age not the point count. But generally there aren't many 2.5 spikes. However, they're still smarter than a button buck recently kicked out by his mom. Much better accomplishment to shoot a mature doe over a young buck.
  3. If you were bordering other land with people or hunters it shouldn't matter if you were on public or state in regards to safe hunting.
  4. I passed over 30 doe last week alone. Decided I'd take one this weekend. And not a single deer in 3 sits haha. Out with the smoke pole this week.
  5. Why do you assume most of us would say no to letting someone recover a deer? I would be ok with recovery and I do not allow anyone else to hunt.
  6. I own 7 firearms Shawn. All various types. I belong to the NRA. I get annoyed at the gun toting yew haw shoot me up attitude. There's no reason we can't work to better our image. All it takes is one retard (sandy hook) to hurt us. Why not try our best to prove to the rest that 99% of us are responsible? You never answered my question.
  7. I wonder where the phrase " a firearm is not a toy" originated from. Curious. Who taught you how to shoot and who bought you your first gun?
  8. Agreed. In the company of fellow gun owners it's fine, which is the case here. I guess I was just sort of Thinkin out loud and wondering how this phrase would sound to an anti or someone on the fence. I also wonder what an employee at biekerchs would think if you walked in and told them you were interested in a new toy and walked up to the handgun counter. Honest question.
  9. Too many people here judge based on what a few members who represent <1% of NY hunters say. There's a few threads regarded wounded deer and Shawn assumes the whole state wounds deer. Don't make generalizations based off a few members opinions...
  10. I don't know anyone who has slugs whistling by them... But it wouldn't surprise me if this is a story you have. No deer is worth that.
  11. And I'm the exact opposite. Kill all mine in the morning. I also get in a half hour before. Time to get settled before the world wakes up.
  12. Cuomo? Wtf are you taking about. I understand the slang. But if we want to convince people we're responsible gun owners and not reckless it may be one of those things we work on. That's all I meant. Ask a leader from scope or the NRA if they agree and I bet they do.
  13. Rare void this morning. Hunting hard this weekend before I break out the smoke pole. Afternoons have produced deer, just no horns lately.
  14. We should probably be careful with how loosely we use the term "toy". I catch myself doing it a lot and it's habit we all should try and break.
  15. Hooting and hollering can be understandable. First deer, monster buck or even more understandable is recovering what you think may be a lost deer. Most of us have been there. That sick feeling in the pit of your stomach instantly removed by the site of that white belly. I'm sure this was the case. However, if it carries on and they made a racket gutting and dragging? No reason for that. But you're not very good at telling stories so I'm sure we'll never know.
  16. Same here. Should have put on the pack boots.
  17. I might give up on mornings. Little to no action lately and all sorts of action in the afternoons.
  18. It's cold can't use phone long. Hand cold
  19. Ganders a joke now. Not only do their prices suck, and their lack of sales even after the season their stock and selection of everything hunting related shrink every year.
  20. What an ignorant blanket generalization.
  21. Fresh dusting and no wind. Feeling good about this morning !
  22. And that's just it, isn't it? Many would value a hawk over a pheasant. It's all relative. And that was my only point.
  23. It's amazing how big a difference visible light is affected by snow...
  24. Fan club enter and ruin thread. I don't curse or call names. You can't quote a single one. Still waiting on that pic in my pm box buddy
