My dad loved hunting swamps, especially after opening weekend, all the big bucks would hide out in the swamps because they felt safe.

With all of us old timers on here we probably have a million stories, A few yrs back My son and I were in our stand on Public land, its was about 730 in the morning and we hear a shot about 500yds away, then this nice 8pt comes running through the woods and stops 10yds from our stand and lays down, he was bleeding from a high chest shot so I waited for the hunter to come finish him off but he never did, 30 min later I shot the deer. At 9am I went to find the hunter and he already left for the day. To date that had to be one of the crasziest hunts for my son and I.

I Have hunted Public land for the past 30 yrs, Opening weekend kinda suxs, however we don't have the numbers of hunters we had 30 yrs ago, usually after Opening weekend I have the place to myself. My son and I get at least 1 deer or two every year because we get to our stand at least 30 min before sunrise and stay till at least noon everyday we go out.

It's a no-shave November mug, but here it is with my doe from last yr.

I've killed many deer in my life, and to date I have no idea how old they were, they never invite me to their Birthday Parties!

Since I am living in one of the few counties left that DOES NOT allow Rifles, I will be sitting in my stand with my 12G H&R ultra slug, she's dead on at 100 yds, hopefully someday Tompkins County will convert to Rifle and I will be able to take my dads 30-30 that he gave me when he passed yrs ago.

I worked Construction and Bailed Hay in HS, then went in the Military for 21 yrs working on the A-10 Warthog, Tank Killer, then Retired for the frist time at 40 yrs young, now I work for the Federal Govt as an Accountant, still have about 12 more yrs before I can retire for good and then live the "good" life!

I got up and it was a whopping -8 out so I went and crawlled back into my warm bed, 20 yrs ago I would have went out in this cold, but I have 2 deer in the freezer and will wait till it gets a little warmer.

I hate them all from the Cell Phone Carriers and the Cable/Satelite Carriers, there all a bunch of billion dollar companies who get rich off us providing a simple service. Someday when I retire I am going to live in a log cabin with no Cell phone or Cable and amuse myself by Farming, Hunting, and Fishing!

I had an easy shot on 2 small does, they looked about 50lbs each so I let them walk, hopefully some of the bigger does will be out this weekend.

I bought one of those TENS Units at the State Fair last year, and for us old timers who have muscle aches, this machine is worth every penny! I have had trouble with a dislocated shoulder injury for years and PT wasent doing much, after 15 min with this electrical shock zapping my shoulder I had full mobility and no pain for the first time since the injury. I must tell you I was skeptical when I first tried it and the price tag of $250 is alittle steep, however I can now work out and use my shoulder.

I completely understand, I hunt FI on Neimi RD, and also across from the old radio station off of Hanshaw. How did you do last weekend?

Geno, I hunt with Gun so I am limited to the F Properties, I have a nice ladder stand set up in F1 behind the Airport.

I bought the same gun, without the scope at Dicks for $218 and put a Bonecollector 3X9 on her and took 2 deer with 2 shots this season, without a doubt one of the best slug guns on the market. I have her sighted in at 100 yards, something I wouldn't dream of doing with any of my other shotguns!

There are TONS of deer within the City Limits, especially in the Cayuga Heights area, however you cant hunt these deer. There is Very Little availible land open to people to hunt out of town and even if you score and get permission to hunt you will not see that many deer. I took 2 deer last year, however I sat many days only seeing squerels. And i have never heard of any negitive feedback from the liberals in town.

If you find a spot with lots of sign and wait it out you will see deer, I think you moved to other locations without giving the spot you were in a chance. I have sat in a spot for a week and seen nothing but squirrels, however if you sit there long enough the deer will cycle trough.

Over the years I have tried to aim for the heart and lungs/vitals area on the deer and many times the deer run 50 to 100 yards, sometimes they expire sooner, however its amaizing how far a deer can run when shot in the vitals. About 5 yrs ago I met an old crusty hunter in the woods and we got to talking and he said he has never had to track a deer in his life because his Father taught him to aim for the neck. I took that advice and the last 10 or so deer that I and my son have killed dropped within 10 feet of being shot. I know that I lose maybe a neck roast, however I know that I will be dragging a deer out of the woods and spend hours tracking.

I Try to hunt everyday all day the first week, then weekends after that, and I only have a 5 mile drive to my hunting spot then about a 1/4 mile walk to my Tree Stand. Life is good!

F1 is one of the biggest plots of land, That's where I hunt, lots of hardwoods and pines.

Did you apply to hunt Cornell Land? I have hunted this area for Many years now, Lots of land, very little hunting pressure, LOTS of posted land, and I would guess 90% of these deer live in the city limits or live where they know they are safe. I took 2 nice Does last Jan, however I sat for many days and only saw tree rats!
