  1. Nice rig (sit in or on top?) but I would have went with a 12ft because they track straighter/easier than a 10ft. Fishing Kayak's can be tricky cost wise, some places jack the price up just because of it having a few rod holders which can be added aftermarket for cheap. Did you rent one before buying to make sure you like it? We rented some a couple weeks ago, between that and talking with experienced kayaker's we learned what we did and didn't want, now we just have to buy them. We are going to get three single sit in's, one for my son and one each for the wife and I.
  2. I am with you Wolly, if I do have a mask on its only covering my neck because I wear glasses and mask's are hot. I pull the mask down out of the way when a deer comes in any way so I can be sure to feel my anchor point. I do cover up when it gets cold but thats for warmth not concealment.
  3. Great little bow, my 9yr old has one...lefty like me.

    Deer beds

Thats a solid idea that hunter had. We also try to make mental note of where we find young bucks bedded for the following years and exit routes ect. We have seen both cases by the way, some return some don't. A couple years back my brother got a nine with the bow just that way, found his area and him but couldn't get a shot. Returned a few weeks later and got him (while still hunting no less).
  5. I would give it go, I would need a aiming point above the actual target but I can see what the guy intended. Now I want to try it. lol

    Deer beds

I noticed that in another thread, haha I have noticed that deer tend to use the same areas for bedding, sometimes year after year. Bucks seem to bed in different areas than doe's in my opinion, in can be in a strip of grass behind a house or in deep cover(just for example). What ever allows them the most safety via wind and vision and lack of pressure. It also seems to me that you might only get one chance at bumping him out of his bed before he goes elsewhere. What am I saying, my screen name is Doewhacker..hehe
  7. haha I'm not sure how you could see a bullseye at 100? Unless we are talking about something baloon sized of course.
  8. Best of luck for continued sucess, I just found out about the out reach programs you guys are doing and think that is 100% what the sport needs more of. Awesome!
  9. Not to nit pick but its Spine not spline.
  10. Ah maybe I should shoot a lighter arrow, I am cautious about broadside shots from the ground when there are two deer sandwiched together for fear of getting two in one shot.
  11. 1 Speed ratchets up the KE the same as extra weight does at close range but looses at longer range. 2 Pass throughs allow for easier tracking, something many have trouble with. 3 Heavier is better in the event of that "perfectly placed arrow" nicking a bone on the way in.
  12. Jumping the string happens far more often when a deer is already on alert. I don't shoot at deer that are on alert for that reason.
  13. Average shot is @20 yards in NY, 320 fps arrow will get there in .18, 300fps .2 250fps .24. Good difference in 250-300, not so much in the smaller gap of 300-320. Most importantly, the deer does not care how fast your arrow is.
  14. Want to compare guns to bows again or claim that faster is more accurate?
  15. Wouldn't make enough of a difference at 25 yards. In high winds the harder part is holding steady before the shot, wind will push an arrow too. Solution is to not take long shots on super windy days.
  16. I don't know, never been south of Albany.
  17. Will do, love his screen name.
  18. I know, I was pointing it out for the less experienced archers here...like Shawnhu.
  19. Guns and bows have nothing to do with one another, guns kill force, bows kill by cutting. Again tell me how a faster arrow will be any more accurate than a slower one.
  20. True but a heavier arrow looses less speed as it goes down range than a lighter arrow. Meaning a heavier arrow will carry more Ke to target than a lighter faster one will.
  21. I will most likely decide based on what has the better price, doesn't seem you can go wrong with either.
  22. So you have no answer, thanks for all the input based on all of your archery experience.
  23. Do you know what is popular in the south? Yup you guessed it, Nascar and College football and of course hunting.
  24. Yes please tell us with all of your years of archery experience how speed makes an arrow more accurate.
