    Tried ordering one and they are out...delays at the manufacturer. Customer service was nice and they are processing a refund (would have rather had the seat). I will probably try again in the spring. I am curious as to how it folds up and what size it is when being transported.

    What if you shoot the deer in a rifle county and it runs to a non rifle county?

    I remove the quiver. I made up a bracket for the quiver to attach to and mounted that to the stand close to the tree. Arrows fletchings are pointed up and are easy to grab yet out of the way.

    In theory I agree about #2. The reality is they aren't going to READ the printed paper any more then they would read a e-copy. And neither impacted the speed at which the safe act was passed. Remember that was a threat to society and had to be voted on immediately in the dark of night without going through the 3 day waiting period.

    I say stay away from all of them. Put the money you would spend on it away and "self insure yourself". I had tried one a few years ago. The policy said I would get full refund if I didn't use any part of it before term expired. 4 months before my term ran out they filed for bankruptcy. Needless to say I didn't get refund.

    Sounds like a call or email to DEC is in order. I would guess they changed the boundry or didn't program the GIS map correctly. You can check the written description of the zones for confirmation of what the proper zone should be.

    Depends on your perspective. When I was learning to hunt with my Dad, I was really tired in my tree stand so I got down and laid on the ground under the stand. Well my Dad was walking to check on me and didn't see me in the stand. As he approached he saw me on the ground and thought I fell out. Needless to say I got more rest whenever I went hunting with my Dad after that.

    The Cabela's app got bought by Trimble GPS. There is a free and $5 version. The benefit to the paid app is more features for hunting out west, ie map features. The Trimble app is nice. Track all aspects of your hunt. You can go back through you previous hunts and get direction to precious locations. I used it a couple times last year and liked it.

    Glad to hear surgery is over. Sounds like with proper recover you will be in the woods before prime time.

    Just read that approx. 20k out of state residents will also be getting the check. Apparently it is based of 2012 returns if you had a child under 17.

    Don't you just love the redistribution of wealth? Even better the next check should arrive even closer to election day.

    You can mess around with a lot thing but don't screw with your health. It's a long season or worse case always next year. Don't put yourself in a position where there is no more hunting.

    Congrats... Like you said you can't really prepare for having kids. Everything changes. There is just something different about having a daughter.

    Last I knew there is a program called the GI bill where you get free college from the government.
