  1. SteveB If you have never been to an IBO event how do you know that compounds have higher scores than crossbows?
  2. Liked the Uncle Joe Joke, figured I'd share one I like too... So Dave finally meets his new girlfriend Jennifer's parents over dinner at their house. He isn't feeling too well but decides its not a good idea to skip out so he goes. Dave's stomach starts to churn and he knows it wont be good! He can't hold it in anymore so he lets out a silent one. Jennifer's dad yells out, "Patches!" Dave thinks great he blamed the dog who was under the table. Well he decides to let out a little more. Again the father yells, "Patches!!' Feeling confident he lets out another big silent one. This time the father yells, "Patches get out from under the table before the guy Shi!$ on you!"
  3. I have no fear of crossbows, I just was answering the OP's question and backing my answer with facts and reasons.
  4. hahaha that's a good one!
  5. There is no implication. I feel that the person with a cross bow has an advantage due to the ability to dial in a scoped crossbow on a stationary bench while us archers need to shoot 10X the arrows to site in our equipment because we are not perfectly still while doing so. Crossbows are fine, in their own group and not in with any other groups.
  6. I might have to take a look into this area. The farther in the more sign or not necessarily?
  7. Ill have to look this area up, I've never heard of it. I can make it to OF from my house in about 45 minutes and my buddy has a big camp on McCully Mt. (we really rough it don't we?!)
  8. Or the one with the better scope...
  9. Absolutely love mine! I Shoot Hornady .45 caliper hollowpoints. 250gr I think they are. My dad and I both shoot them and have had awesome luck.
  10. I buy the individual three foot sections of climbing sticks. this way I know no one will be in my stand when I get there or even worse laying below my stand. They aren't too expensive and three of them can get you 15feet high which is usually plenty high enough although I like to be 20. maybe 15bucks a section? I can't remember since I bought them a couple years ago.
  11. Yes, I've been to two....I looked it up, Yes in an IBO - you know International BOWhunting Organization event, (if you want to reference these kinds of events) there Is a class for crossbows but they DO NOT compete with any other classes. So again the answer to your question is No...its not acceptable. Here is the link to the rules. http://www.ibo.net/pdf/2013/IBO_RULES_2013.pdf
  12. It just shows that they only react when there is a hot political topic that will help their careers!
  13. I know a guy who shoots a PSE who is known to talk smack about fishing but tends to put his foot in his mouth! I sure hope this doesn't happen to you "Renegade Hunter"
  14. I would say that they should not be allowed. Simply go to bing.com images or google.com images and type in Archery. You will not find a crossbow anywhere in the results because crossbow shooting is not the same as true archery. Or look up the definition of archery in the dictionary. It states, "the art, practice, or skill of shooting with bow and arrow. So as you ask ....."is it acceptable to show up at an archery competition event with a crossbow to compete against Archer's shooting either traditional bows or compound bows?" no it is not because it is not the same thing. Can't make it any more simple of a answer to your question.
  15. Just got mine out yesterday finally! I was planning on waiting two months but I'm sure I wont wait that long to check them! haha
  16. haha I don't even have children yet but I still want that!
  17. Anyone going to the Oxford Rod and Gun Club on the 30th for the 3D shoot? Me and some buddies will be there.
  18. haha I dont know who can't find that fun?! Id much rather do that than spend all my money at the bar! plus I dont know a single bar that serves fried frog lets
  19. I'll be out! Nothing like slopping around late at night with some friends for a fun catch! We use our hands which makes it more of a challenge and even more fun if its possible!
  20. My favorite is the 3 inch Sabboted Remington Copper Solids. I tried the AccuTips one year and they were alright, too expensite at over 5$ a shell all I heard was Cha Ching when I pulled the trigger
  21. Small world! Glad to see you guys helped out the area. Only got two coyotes and a grey fox locally this year calling.
  22. The guy on the bottom picture on the right looks like Rob Nelson
  23. Do you run with Tom Peterson and his group? Or Alec Kirpeck? I know both groups and know they run around my house a lot in Westmoreland.
  24. I think you have a very valid point. There needs to be better parenting or if not parents there needs to be some kind of figure in a young person's life that can teach them respect and reality. I can tell you my father and grandfather were that for me! I never got in trouble growing up or in school, not because I was afraid of detention or the police but I was more afraid of letting my family down. Perfect case was the shooting in Connecticut. He was already known to have mental issues and the mother, (not to disrespect the dead) but she wanted to be more of a friend to him than a parent and allowed him access to the weapons and (video games from what I've heard). It is just sad how distant parents and their kids are now a days. Back what my father was growing up there was never the "Here take this phone or game and leave me alone" mentality but the come on lets go trapping, fishing, hunting etc.
  25. You wanna know what really angers me about the whole gun banning and hysteria over the last year? How about we blame the violent video games that kids now a days are playing instead of the inanimate objects being guns?! Today's youth is too busy sitting on their asses slugging 2 liters of mountain due while they play a video game where they go into a school or a house and get points for killing innocent people! ARE YOU KIDDING ME, POINTS??!! And these flipping Liberals are blaming the guns??!! These kids now a days since they are 8 years old or younger play these games where killing is glamorized, grow up not knowing the difference between real life and a game. I would guarantee you that if you studied a lot of these mass shootings you would find that most of, if not all the killers played these games. Yes they put and age limit on buying the games but young kids find ways around them too easy. In my opinion just get rid of them all together and instead of teaching kids how to kick in a door and shoot children, teach them things like responsible gun handling, respect and a hard work ethic!
