Friday morning I hunted a piece of property and saw some action, a spike, some does and a six or basket 8. Was a good morning minus the pounding headache that kicked me out of the woods at 930. I went home warmed up and got some dry cloths on and decided to pull the card from a camera I have behind my grandfathers across the road. I was shocked to see a nice 8 had been hitting the scrapes in the middle of the day! I had missed him by two hours that morning. Needless to say my headache went away really fast. I went back got a hang on and set up in a big maple overlooking the scrapes. Sat from 1 to dark and only a doe. Saturday morning two more does and then at 1015 here he comes right from where I knew he would but instead of going to the scrapes directly like all the pictures showed him he turned and went to my right and stopped behind a scrub apple tree at 28 yards. When I put my quick release on the string loop it made a metallic click that he heard. He walked away not spooked thankfully. Sunday morning was going to be a short hunt because of my nephews baptism. Couldn't believe it 815 and here he comes! Comes from the exact same spot and does the same exact thing but he stayed 60 yds out this time. Never acted spooked or anything. Im going to be trying tomorrow morning for a couple hours but going to sit on the ground inside the woods and see if I can't get him before he makes that pain in the A$$ left turn haha! Hopefully Ill have a picture to post of him on the ground!

I have the PRIMOS rubberneck and I think it sounds pretty realistic...just ask the buck I called in two years ago with it, wait, that isn't possible now haha

About 5 years ago I called some number, got bounced around line to line and got nothing out of it to report a similar issue. Then two years ago I called an ENCON Officer directly and he met me at my truck within 30 minutes and he even came out of his zone to assist! I still carry his business card with me, very professional and polite, Corey Schoonover from Herkimer County.

The game syllabus has all of the ENCON Officers names and number...Those are the ones you should call directly for that kind of stuff, they are in the field not behind a desk hating their jobs.

I got my first tick ever on me this year, it hadn't attached yet and I made a tick pancake with it! My girlfriends dogs are getting them at least once or twice a week! With the mild winters they aren't dying off like they used to.

I had a biscuit on my last two bows and put one on my girlfriends. They worked/work great, only reason I switched to a QAD drop away was that I got a high grade bow and wanted to get the most accuracy and speed out of it. With a zero friction drop away I don't have to worry about drag on my arrow and it wont slow my arrow.

i use anaconda cables for the camera itself and a small master lock with a cable to lock my camera closed

All depends on the hunter/land situation. If I had my own land or at least land that is being managed to grow large mature deer, I would shoot the smaller older six, that way those kinds of genetics are out of the herd. I have to admit, if I was on public land then I would probably go for the 8 unfortunately.

Takes a lot to hold off and I'm sure a lot of people would have taken the shot anyways. Glad to see you have some good ethics and follow the laws. Good things happen to good people and you'll get your shot at him! Good Luck

All I have to say is i'm glad that i'm working this weekend... I tried to deal with it last year but the deer were super spooked and weren't spending much time in one place. I am all for the youth season and getting young hunters in the woods but I think it should be the weekend before regular season. Even as a bow hunter I would be fine with ending the season for the 5 days before opening day and letting the deer calm back down.

I met a guy in a wheelchair at Gander Mountain last year all decked out in camo so I started talking to him and he said that evening he was going to be hunting in Edmeston (I imagine its the same place). He was pumped to be getting out in the woods. I wish I knew how he did there. What an amazing thing those kind of places do for others! I wish more people had hearts like they do and help those in need... instead it seems like we are running into more and more heartless, self-centered and inconsiderate people these days. But stories like this make me have hope in people honestly

last few deer...that means before those you did use the high tech scopes.... and a compound is still a high tech piece of equipment compared to your recurve.... Don't get on a hunting forum and insult people like you did and not expect us to "rile easily"..... I'm done wasting my time with you and your post... How can you tell me I am not a hunter because I use a trail camera?! I am out in the rain, checking fresh sign, busting my a$$ hanging tree stands, wind and snow don't stop me, I'm out scouting (on foot), I stalk deer on the ground, I harvest deer, I thank them for the meat that they have provided me after a kill....go a head and tell me I am not a hunter and I will tell you that you are an ignorant person....Time have changed. How does me using a trail camera make me not a hunter any more? PLEASE TELL ME.......I'll bet money on it you have a high tech sight on your bow, or a high powered scope on your high tech gun....To a long bow hunter YOU TOO ARE NOT A HUNTER in there eyes so don't sit behind your computer and have courage to tell us that we are not hunters.....

I always go in around 3-330. Id rather sit an extra hour and possibly get one up on its feet early than bump them while walking in.

Pheasant hunted in the morning and bow hunted the evening. Saw a doe and a fawn, heard more in the thick stuff walking as well as one obnoxious TUBA player across the ravine playing what must have been his back deck. Scared the doe away... I got a doe Monday night in the NZ so wasn't hard to pass on the one who didn't like the tuba music haha

Wow that is horrible and I'm sorry to hear that! It is too bad that there are such untrained and unprofessional people out there in the law enforcement field and people are afraid of them...That's not what they are supposed to be there for!

But a Police Officer needs to remain professional and have dignity, no matter how big of a douche the person is.

I have a feeling that this Officer did have an issue with the sign. Any Police Officer who was just following an order to remove the sign (with no prejudice) would not have gone there and kicked it down like he did. He would have gone to the home owner, (with paperwork) and explain to him that it needed to be taken down....for whatever idiotic reason that may be. Its too bad that he did that because that doesn't just make him look bad, but it makes a lot of other Officers look bad. The public should never doubt the integrity of a Police Officer and they should be able to trust every single one, 100% of the time! Just a shame...

Just ordered a new hunting outfit, first in a few years. Got the Scent Blocker Xbow Jacket and their Super Freak pants too. Both in Realtree Xtra! I don't crossbow hunt but the Xbow jacket has a pouch type pocket in the front (intended for a crossbow cocker) and a small pouch (for a mono pod) that look like they will work perfect for my rangefinder and a wind direction bottle!!! 3-4 day shipping, ill have it just in time to wash and hang dry for my long weekend coming up!!!! LET THE BLOOD TRAILS BEGIN!!!
