10 to -10 degrees if it's calm. otherwise the wind is too brutal.
-
even if wolves they have a crap ton of deer. far more than we couple ever dream of out here near the VT border.
-
not a big snack person; couple apples, trail mix in a ziploc baggy, and/or jerky while on stand. those Cliff bars are good. Usually take whatever it is out of orginal package and put it in a ziploc.

i'm think about everyone's biggest bucks to date, that came from out of state, and put them into typical or non-typical category. everyone seems to be in a top 4 state for the respective list.
-
not auto accident or anything. found on a property practicing QDM. not sure of cause of death. that's the unknown part. i'd think if it was known to be wounded i would've been told. definitely not a poaching incident or that'd be thoroughly discussed in our group. just a dead head with no juicy story. lol
-
not almost. it is. combo of where it's kept and that it was more or less found. not shot and recovered.
-
still using Rage heads again this year. if i switch at any point it's because i'm using a bow that's setup for something else.

i own one of those special B&C tape measures that came to me free in the mail one day. i've maybe used it 3 times. i'm not really a "what's it score" kind of guy. i do admit the merits of a scoring system though.

i've looked at it. took pictures of it. same as other buck racks i've had in my hands as big and bigger, actually holding it in your hands is totally different. unreal deer get around so well out in the wild with that much heft and bulk on their heads.

I said I'd take better pictures if I could. Dead deer so no worries. I'm no@moog5050 but 6' tall. Nevermind the dad bod. Holding it down and close to me as I could. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

that many deer there and the bucks will follow. i'd think you probably have a decent age structure in the area that something good will be around. few weeks will tell when the pecking order gets re-established. -

happy birthday

yes sir. those are all feeder steers on the wall. guess my cover is blown.
-
yours was closer to 4" spikes. probably those western ny deer genetics. we didn't want to get labeled as trophy hunters out here in northeaster NY.

i'm at my day job in albany right now. if it hasn't gone back to it's original owner yet i'll take one tonight. when i took the pictures i was afraid to touch it being a euro on the wall with concrete floor under it. later i was told it was actually wired up good in the back and wasn't going anywhere.
-
that was washington county fair. all the bucks were from washington county. we'll have another at schaghticoke with rensselaer county bucks. only exception is a shoulder mount we've got of a yearling spike with 3" spikes. that makes it to all of the fairs.

most at DEC suck in my opinion. all the ages in our bldg came from a combo of trail cam on hoof photos and/or history, then jawbone aging, and then finally sending out incisors to matson's lab for cementum aging. the point really is that it's just good to know potential and to ground your expectations to the deer in your area, not off what you see on TV. when it comes down to it, in the field your going to see a deer that will trip your trigger or not. that simple and everyone's standards are different. not like we all can say that's a XX yr old deer to within a year, every time. then we decide if we'll shoot or pass based on that. doesn't really work like that much of the time.
-
i didn't measure it but i think it's like 80" in tines. beams stick out practically even with the shoulder mounts at least a couple feet out but it's a euro flat against the wall. then you've got the mass measurements with 3+" wide beams. hard to think it came from this area with that kind of midwest mass but it did.
-
i could see that. only us in cabin or shed. only fair office or us has key. fair gates closed off hours. mounts only there during days fair is open. we usually have trail cams hidden in places as back up. we've gotten pictures of a disgruntled older man tagging one of our road side signs with spray cans. lol hard to get out of that when we had a photo of his mug holding the can with paint coming out only 5' away. mounts are always a concern, but we haven't had issues with the mounts since we started over a decade ago.

we had 3.5 year olds ranging from 90" to mid 140". 5.5 yr olds ranging from 130's to the euro in the middle that made it to 170". picture doesn't do it justice. the euro had 3+" thick beams. on the aging board game with lights many choose the 3.5 yr old buck as the oldest because of its antlers. it made it into the 150's at 4.5 before it was taken. the 5.5 yr old on that board scored high 120's but dressed out just over 230lbs.
