  1. for years we've gone to the same area. extended family has had a camp in Cape Neddick. Wells, Ogunquit, Kennebunk, York... all that area has memories.
  2. Figured this might get some fired up for this season. Mostly local deer from this past season. Bigger ones were taken but couldn't get hunters to bring them. Some just too secretive. We'll have another smaller setup at the fair in Rensselaer county fair. Wish I took more photos. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  3. definitely shims are a pain. actually disregard what i said. my victory doesn't have yokes. getting my bows i have hanging all mixed up. my PSE's and Hoyt's all have yokes. you're right. elites don't.
  4. 2 trad bows and about a dozen compounds. i've slowed waaayyyy down getting new ones. i've only bow hunted for 16 years, which isn't long to acquire bows compared to some on here.
  5. i guess i made an assumption. my elite victory has them too. didn't realize the hunter had straight loop to the cam.
  6. Whitney's Hunting Supply in granville, ny sells Rambo bikes. i know Rambo makes 750 and 1000W bikes. not sure but we used to ride mountain bikes on state land a lot to get farther in where it was relatively flat enough (not mountains).
  7. i don't think nuisance tags require meat and parts to go to waste. it's not that way with deer so i can't imagine it's that way with bear. is disheartening though as there's not as many out there. most definitely nothing for nuisance beers killed goes to waste. i consume much of the sustenance within and then what little i do get for the "hide" turns into an MS donation.
  8. well that sucks. hope there's a a couple more around to chase after. i'm horrible with score.
  9. you forgot it'll get you chicks like levi's samantha. lol
  10. assuming you're not doing anything like torquing or too much pressure to the face if you're right handed. it sounds like it could be horizontal string travel with the cams. a bow be tuned with some lean just fine. sometimes it's a little too much to tune out. have Tacks twist the cable yoke a little. once i get the tear to well under an inch i call it good and just shoot it to fine tune center shot and rest height. nock height is always right in the sweet spot that's holds well at full draw.
  11. keep all of them. place them ahead of time in a cut field. then get hunting buddies and their family's together. have all the kids go on a shed hunt. pile them up. take a picture and then have a cook out.
  12. someone had to say it... i don't think i've fallen on my ass more with any other boot.
  13. in the end what you can take with ya means nothing. it's all about what and who you leave to this world we live in. i don't know you or your family but from the sounds of it, he did good.
  14. naaa.... ground isn't that bad for chisel plows. a little late now though so trying to catch up. https://www.facebook.com/beermoneypullingteam/videos/235281217329171/
  15. we had a cup like that my dad got somewhere really cheap. used for low light. the theory worked but wasn't really worth the pain of having the ugly thing on their and getting in the way.
  16. first thing i did was go to their website. home page has active hot girls in bikinis plastered all over it. damn their marketing group!
  17. well by chance if i hunt out that way i'll let you know. i've got nothing to gain from keeping secrets. lol at least on public land.
  18. no i'm saying they could and still would. newer bows tuned and fitted definitely make doing so easier though. if you pay any attention to competitive archery you're starting to see format changes and perfect scores for rounds. didn't happen as often. still in the context of hunting they both still work. some qualities in newer bows are just better hunting though too. newer bows can have nicer backwalls and valleys that help consistency when in a weird position in a stand or blind. at the end of the day the "best" bow out there isn't going to help you if you're not doing your part.
  19. 740g ... later with even more insert weights? haha
  20. i do this. i think everyone should. i shot the flagship bow at the time for about every known manufacturer a couple years back in 2007-2008. i ended up with a GanderMountain TecHunter Elite. tuning it was a bare but when tuned the thing just shot really well and felt good. i'd shoot in their indoor range. people would worlds apart. sometimes it's just the indian.
  21. all bows have qualities and weak links, even in name brand expensive side of it all. higher end bows are usually easier to tune, have better materials, and have improved design. design being cams, risers, etc. a good bow riser will be light but solid in all the right places. when you shoot it there's minimal flex and it's only in the right planes. cams and risers together will afford straight nock travel from full draw to rest both up and down and left to right. then like others said it'll have minimal vibration, all things equal will be quieter, and will "pop" less in your hand... this is without adding stuff.
  22. as simple as one is though the difference in stacking and drawing on a custom recurve versus a cheaper one is crazy. they're faster somehow too. a good bowyer turning out custom bows is like a magician in my mind. being an engineer i understand materials and limb dynamics. still... magician.
  23. I forget the age but I'll have to soon. FDR daughter is 4. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  24. sounds like your into the area around Berne and west of Albany. Farther than i really go. I got nothin. lol
