  1. Still wondering what the right to recover laws are there. Is it like NY where the landowner has the final say whole comes on their property?
  2. My prediction: Pretty much all scripted with a lot of re enactments to provide the entertainment they feel will draw ratings. Lot's of set up's to a confrontation before cutting to a commercial. Come back and repeat the whole setup again just to have it not happen. Basic reality show template with different plugins.

Thanks all - pretty good day. Telling everyone I'm 72 (rather than 62). They tell me how good I look for my age.
  4. County clerks office will have info on who owns it. Unless it is unmarked public land, you have already trespassed in getting those pictures. Not being posted is not an invitation. I go by a simple rule - if I don't have permission, I don't go.
  5. I support inclusion but there already is better than decent archery hunting in NY.
  6. If it's going to be a typical "reality" show with scripting and re enactment, it will not help hunting in any way. They get need ratings and you get them by airing controversies and confrontation. Can't see anything good coming from this. PS - Anyone know if Ct's right to retrieve laws are the same as NY?
  7. Daryl would have shot her in the head.
  8. Softball - can't help it. Unless you are tired, obviously not .
  9. Leadership is a huge factor - rotating from pretty much the same pool On the membership dropped to 2000 from 4000 in the 90's while recruiting 100's new each year. From the website history, info from the inside and experience.
  10. Whoosh - the sound when it goes right over some ones head. Never said I expected a reply - only that if I was spreading "lies" someone from the organization would take it to heart and do something. The silence is deafening but speaks volumes about the veracity of my observations. Can't counter the message so you attack the messenger. Thought you where better than that, but appears that is the 2nd thing I was wrong about you. First being you deserved respect. For the sake of the forum, I will no longer respond to your rants, name calling and other tactics which most likely will continue. I will continue giving my opinion and participate in discussions with those capable of doing so. You will not stifle that without resorting to misuse of your moderator status. Have a nice day.
  11. Doc - I know plenty of current members. Things have not changed a bit since I was a member and a county rep. Not one of those members knew anything about the leaderships attempt to give away part of the early season until it hit the paper. You are right - at THAT time most of the general membership may have voiced their displeasure (as did 10's of 1000's of nonmembers). Point is, a decision of that magnitude should have been put forth to the general members for their reaction BEFORE going public. They backed off the agreement only when it became clear that it was a loser from the get go on all accounts and they needed to cut losses.. Not one bit of this is a "blatant lie". If it where so, I believe someone from the invisible inner circle would have become involved - they have not, I have not been approached and am far from hard to find/contact. Frankly I am surprised you would stoop to out right calling me a liar. While we have clashed in the past, I respect you and your right to your own opinions. I felt as if it might be at least moderately mutual - we agree on far more than not. I am sorry to see it is not, but have no control (or wish to) over your feelings. I can strongly discuss and debate any topic with anyone without it getting personal. It's a shame and a disservice to the forum that you are not willing to do the same.
  12. Joe - it show the handful that run it are more concerned with crossbows than they where putting a gun season in the bow season. There is no input sought or allowed prior to a ruling of the special few. No way for the members to have any say whatsoever in operation or direction. In fact any not going with the flow are not welcome. Membership exits for the fees and to man booth's for recruitment. And new members are recruited but total membership never increases. That alone speaks volumes about them.
  13. Get rid of stocks if let off greater than 00.00% goes also. And it was NYB that tried to put in an early MZ season in the southern zone back a bit. A move blocked by the other 198,000 bowhunters and many of their own 2,000 members who had no idea of the deal negotiated and agreed to by the handful of those running the organization.
  14. For split - no scope would be about the only compromise acceptable along with limb length, lb, restrictions.
  15. I've shot a compound off and on over the years of using a recurve - never really enjoyed it at all like the curve. Don't own one now and when the day comes I can't shooting a hunting weight recurve, I'll go directly to a crossbow. I support the use of any bow in the bow season - even one that didn't exist when the bow season started.
  16. There - fixed it for you. The "compromise" you suggest has never been or ever will be put on the table by the handful that run NYB.
  17. NYB has always fought the legality of the crossbow as a weapon for any season using the slippery slope is unavoidable. They have never and still will not entertain any discussion otherwise - compromise is not in their vocabulary. Unless of course it is with the state MZ association allowing mz in the early bow season.
  18. You can do fillets or whole fish. I like to marinate with a brine of water, sea salt teryaki (sp.), and brown sugar, Experiment with the proportions and add garlic, onion, pepper or whatever sounds good. After 4 to 24 hours, remove and let air dry for an hour or 2 before smoking. Cold smoking requires lower temps then most can do and heavier use of salt/preservative. Hot smoking is 140 deg plus. Doneness is your call - anywhere from a flaky consistency to near jerky like - both are good.
  19. What's legal for law enforcement should be legal for all legal gun owners.
  20. Countering the same old opinions is no more trolling then giving the same old opinions. The fact is opinions do change - mine did. I know a lot that where against crossbow in archery who now either are neutral or pro inclusion. Can't say I know any one who was pro and is now anti. Fact is that is is an ongoing debate - the choice to participate is up to the individual. What does get old is the extremes from both sides and off the wall analogies.
  21. I did a 180 and changed my stance 4 or 5 years ago - was totally anti crossbow. It is happening all the time although I can't say I know of any one going from pro to anti.
  22. Add the IBO to the list. International BOWhunting Org.
  23. Compounds are shot with triggers, can have a scope and with 80 to 99% let off legal and available, can be held at full draw several minutes before making a shot. Sit in a ground blind or 20+ feet in the air and the chance are your draw will never be seen.
