  1. I don't see anywhere that he has claimed 100% right and everyone else here wrong. What I see is he has provided a lot information - much with links and sources - for consideration. I do not see one post of yours that offered anything more then accusations with no substantiation of any kind. I would be eager to read any substantiations you care to post.
  2. Armcomm - thanks for providing an informed balance to this thread. That is something often missing on forums.
  3. If you could "see deer everywhere", 20 per sit, or a farmer is killing 65/yr (which I doubt unless he has a huge operation and a lot of time), there are too many deer. I know several farms that use the permits occasionaly. They all allow hunting, but the combination of open land with little cover make it very hard to kill enough deer during seasons to control the population. Once pressured, it gets very difficult to kill them during legal hours in hunting season. Summer permits - used wisely - is the only way to control the damage which can run into 10's of 1000's of dollar's. Don't know about you, but my taxes are too high now - damned if I want one dollar more going to suppliment damage costs because some hunter wants to see 20+ deer everytime they go out or force a landowner to let people he doesn't know on their land.
  4. Then I am not in favor of an arguement that says that because there are some archers who do not take time to practice with their recurves and longbows we are justified in adding in more weapons in bowseason that are not as demanding - such as a compound machine that was invented for the sole reason to get women and children into the bow season because it made it far easier then the real bows being used at the time. Also remember Fred Bear saying now you can now be a 2 season hunter. 30 plus pages and some cannot see the hypocracy of allowing a 40 year old invention (to make it easier) into the bowseason, while resisting archery equipment 100's of years old in the bow season because it may be easier. Anyone shooting a compound and being anti crossbow is just saying I want my easier "bow" but want to deny others their's. At least be honest about it - you don't want to take the time to shoot a real bow accurately enough to hunt with ( for whatever reason) but still want to be in the bow season. It' just that simple.
  5. Sure sounds like you got up on the wrong side of the bed......"ruin bow season"?...really? I actually think we are seeing his good side
  6. And gas was 45 cents a gallon.

For my TC Triumph, BH209 for all the reasons Bubba stated. It doesn't work in all rifles and needs a sealed breech and tight sabots. For my Whites, it was T7, but am now using Swiss. As powerful as T7, but actually pretty clean for real black. Would never use pellets - zero advantages for a huge difference in cost per shot.
  8. Most of the ones seen have been loose for several generations. This one was hand raised pet (only way to be 700lbs) that was loose for a couple days - big difference. Like shooting a farmers milk cow that got thru the fence.
  9. That was a pet that wandered off for a day or 2.
  10. Don't know that it is 90%, but it is a high number. That is why shortening the gun season would have little effect except to anger the gun hunters for its intent. And why it will not happen.
  11. Not a kill I would be bragging on or proud of. Like a little hunt with my hunt. JMO.
  12. Yep - hugging it. If it's alright to post to another site, here is more: http://www.huntingnet.com/forum/northeast/334308-2-world-new-pa-state-record-black-bear.html More here: http://bullcreekblog.blogspot.com/2010/11/new-state-record-bear-taken-with.html
  13. Actually was a semi tame 17 year old - there are pics of a guy hugging it. People had supposedly been feeding it twinkies for years. Several guys participated in the kill - there was no real hunt.
  14. They are doe only. Not to be used during season. Hours are daylight to 11pm. He must register you as a shooter for you to use.
  15. That's what I can't understand - if they think AR is a good thing, why are they waiting to practise it?????????
  16. Who is wiping them out? Could most of them be killed by the alleged 65% of hunters that supposedly support AR's????? Or are the other 35% just that good??
  17. A lot of AR supporters claim that 65% plus of the hunters support AR. Then we here that aprox 70% of the bucks killed are only 1.5. So are we to believe that less then 35% of hunters are killing that 70% that are 1.5????? Other 2 choices are the number of supporters is way less then 65% - either that or the majority of that 65% talk the game but don't walk it. I think it's a combination of both.
  18. Maybe like high school football - a hunting physical every summer? Turn your head and cough!
  19. Ok as a patch lube. It's a rust inhibitor - not a rust preventative. Far better products out there - why use something that may work when you can use something that will work.
  20. So if someone not in the best of shape should not use a treestand, does that mean anyone who is not a great swimmer should ever go in a boat? Or do you just use proper equipment and common sense.
