Do you wear Orange? If so why? If not Why not? :)
SteveB replied to TheHunter's topic in General Hunting
The kid was wearing orange - took it off at a whim when hot. What law would have changed that? -
Can't find a way to communicate without the profanity - including your signature?

That works too!

Just remember that when argueing with an idiot, it is often hard for an onlooker to tell who the real idiot is.

Anyone shooting "several" bucks each year needs to be dealt with as a the poacher they are.
-
I highly doubt the 2/3 claim usually as well. If that many supported it, it would be in effect voluntarily since i am sure all those supporting it would not be shooting any small buck ever. Otherwise they would not be very sincere in their belief that ar is a sound system.

I heard that something like 40% (and rising) of the people in this country get their living from some level of government - either threw employment, benefits or aid. Care to guess their priorities when voting? When it hits 50%, it will get far worse.

All the hunting shows are just infomercials. Like watching extreme home makeovers and thinking that's all I need to do to build that addition.
-
No - it was a request to hear more about it. Why, are you hearing something to suggest there might be questions? Guys shoot a doe, post pics and 3 paragraphs about the hunt. 200 class buck and nothing but a handful of pics in a truck and a field. People like to hear harvest stories - this might be a good one.

Be interested in hearing the story. On a drive, posted up, been hunting him all year etc.

Just realized this about your regular season tag
SteveB replied to First-light's topic in Muzzleloaders
Read again - it clearly states it is for both in the late season. -
Don't do statewide management based on your back yard.
-
Also the snowmobilers are against any extention. Landowners will not allow the trails to open on their properties while hunting season is open.
-
Scott is where a handfull - maybe 2 - of pigs are shot each year.
-
Great move Bubba!
-
Great plan - 7j and 7h would be overrun with deer in a very short time. : In NY the hunting seasons are for herd management - not so everyone can see 50 deer every hunt.
-
Can you keep your dogs on the public land or on the relatively small parcels of private land if by chance you get permission?
-
Not where I hunt. Please don't try to change the season everywhere because of your perception from your back yard. Shortening the season would most likely lower the kill because we will lose hunters - not a good thing. A huge percentage of the kill happens in the first week- the rest of the season has less impact and cutting it would probably just intesify the earlier part. To make a real change, you would have to cut it to 5 to 7 days killing participation in a few short years. Is that what you want?
-
Try the state land. Most/all taken are targets of opportunity when hunting something else - usually deer.
-
Doe only for the most part. Up to 11pm - rifles allowed as stated. Unless the damage is severe, I doubt many are issued before spring.
-
X2!

Or Joe, maybe they have allowed hunters and the population still needed more thinning - very possible on many farms where there is lots of food/feilds and limited cover. Or, my original thought, the 80 deer killed is just an unsubstantiated story and would be nearly impossible to do.

Gas drilling (fracting) and your hunting property
SteveB replied to First-light's topic in General Hunting
No blinders at all - just want to hear all sides. As far as researching for me, I do expect someone who gives their opinion adamantley and wants to be taken seriously to provide some back up - which you now have done and I will read. You are right about many sides and hidden agendas - they all do it. Even those who have helped shut down most all attempts at things like logging, coal mining and all other domestic use of our existing resources. Everyone has an agenda of sorts. -
Culver - that is for the DMP's. The others are DMAP - in season antlerless only nuisance permits that can only be used by legal huntings following all applicable reg's for the season - limit of 2 per hunter regardless of how many the landowner has.
-
So many don't like nuisanse permits and feel the landowner should allow hunting as the means to control the damage to their property. But now there are some who think they should not use hunters to control it? Which is it? I would like to hear how anyone knows for sure that 80 deer where taken and how big the property is. I find it amazing that it held 80 deer that would stay there until the last one was shot. Must be some incredibly stupid deer - any I have ever seen would go nocturnal and/or vacate the area if that kind of pressure happened.
