  1. How many pin's do you use. I was messed up like 10 years ago with to many pin's. Went to 1 pin from 10 out to 30 yards and problem solved. 1 pin and you bear down better i believe and make better shots, Kinda like crosshairs on a scope, you can zero right on and pick a hair!
  2. Yes Sir. If you want me the from this Saturday till next Monday you will find me glued to a tree in the bowels of Letchworth State Park! Bring It On!
  3. lol..Some things do not need to be put to print. Hope you were totally wrong on the hit but if you did hit it back hopefully you hit that major artery that runs back there and it will bleed out. Most hits there they bleed out pretty fast! Hope luck is on your side. Things get crazy in the woods at times but many read the words put to print on this site and they are not all on our side!
  4. WOW,,,,,Is all i can say on some of these posts on here. Shooting deer in the ass...I Think??? Shooting another one because i did not see an arrow sticking out of this one. Good thing i am not a Mod on here. Man shit happens but lets get real with some of these things!!!
  5. Yes you have the hand climber with the available sit and climb add on. I have one also but dont like or use it. Just grab the top part with your hands and arms and up you go. Much quicker than using the sit and climb attachment. For me anyways. You can get the bow hanger that bolts right to the bottom of the stand and that keeps your bow at the ready at all times.
  6. You betcha... And i'm afraid by the sounds that he drew back on the..Body Blob..in front of him and tried to settle the pins somewhere towards the front. We all could have done it many a times i'm sure. The wounding happens in this sport,Sad but True. That i can deal with but the whole in the dark thing, after hours by more than just a few, and on top of that being a new hunter i believe this boy needs a good ripping just to get the point across so it does not happen next time. The deer died a shitty death and was most likely lost so maybe a lesson will be learned? Lets Hope!
  7. I have each and for bow its always the Wolf but my Summit has a pretty comfy seat for long day gun hunts.
  8. Maybe the law said sunset..I dont know but kid said it was dark. I know today in my neck of the woods it says i have to pack it up before 6pm Maybe in his woods he can hunt after hours and shoot at bodies if that is in fact what he did. Find his area..Find his shut down time per the law and let me know?
  9. Agreed but it also should not be overlooked. Sure we all are in agreement that we hope he finds the deer but you also cant sugarcoat the bad parts of the whole deal and do any justice to a new hunter. I for one do not believe these wounded/lost and maybe even illegal posts should even be put up on this site. I think anyone in that kind of need needs to be hooking up or at least talking with a hunter in their area to help them. More of a one on one thing. Who knows who reads all these posts.
  10. So you boys have no problem with a new hunter gut shooting a buck because he shot when it was dark out? Already a little dark he says? Meaning prob could not see pins to get a good shot in and just body dark blob body shot and gut shot it?? Poor shot is one thing but when you add up the whole post it goes a little further than that. Nobody knows but the hunter that was there and released the arrow but i can tell ya how dark it was in my neck of the woods at 615pm yesterday!
  11. Posts like this should almost be taken right off by mod's. New hunter is one thing but this is kinda massed up on many levels. Get some friends and grid search for that animal and as was said...Watch and listen to the birds. They will find it before you do.
  12. Great tines for a Ny buck. That buck was made and managed thats for sure. It takes time and age for sure. Bet this guy ate the highest protein breakfast lunch and supper available to a whitetail deer also. Just an awesome animal with unreal tine length. Trust me...Tine length is the toughest thing to put on a deer.
  13. He could stand on his head and that is still a huge deer. 15 inch G2's 12 inch G3's or longer makes that a big deer. I have my doubts thats a Ny buck just on tine length alone but thats an awesome dude for sure.
  14. Surely possible. Looks like another one hanging in the background. If this is Ny killed it will be seen somewhere. Looks like something out of Iowa or Kansas but Ny is getting bigger and bigger every year with Ar,less hunters and hunters letting the baby's walk. A brute for sure. Thats what its all about for many.
  15. Just let me know as i have had some interest. We will not be staying in the cabin as we have a camp outside the park so whoever takes it can bring 3 or maybe even 5 other buddies with them and have at it. Party and hunt for a week works for us every year. Very cheap stay and a great place to hunt plus its the only way now to get on the park and you are good to go for the rest of the season..Not just the week of your stay. If you have a good pair of hiking boots and a good set of lungs i could hook you up with some primo spots to possibly see and take the biggest buck of your life. The work is there but the rewards can be huge!
  16. We have Cabin C13 i believe (Electric heat) that we are either not going to need at all or will have room for 4 other hunters from the Tuesday before opening shotgun thru the Tuesday after i believe. Either way if ya have a few guys that have no place to hunt or want to hunt the park let me know.
  17. This is why i use a Wby 300Mag. They dont run!
  18. Nope..Got it out at about 9pm ,thru it up on a trailblazer and it headed towards Ogdensburg. Nothing huge but good 2nd buck for the hunter. On a side note,Today i found thigh sized rubs and many have hearted scrapes opened up. Would love to see the dude that is takin on that size tree's. Much time will be spent in that area in the next 3 weeks!
  19. Yup. You could walk the river until you hit a trail or you can go straight up the way you can down. There are hills and then there are cliffs You have to walk the fine line when talking what is legal and what is not. On a positive note one of the new hunters with us took a nice 7pt off the park tonight. Only 1 100ft rope was needed to pull that one out. They always seem to slide that extra few feet.
  20. Some place on the park have trails. Use them and you will see hunters. Just drop off the road go down until you cant really walk any further and toss a rope over to help ya get to the next level or the bottom. The deer walk those banks like goats and they dont go straight up and down when they walk them they walk the sides left a ways then right a ways until they reach the top. I always said whitetails on the park have a little goat bred into them. They will get in spots where 99.9% of the hunters would never dream of going and lay right in the wide open, I like those spots.
  21. Yes Sir. On my way down to camp right now for a few days on the park. Love the idea of just having to drive a couple miles and i am just like back at home and have all the great land to hunt. I hardly ever see any hunters where i go over to hunt. Dont ever hunt the top and expect to be somewhat alone. Amazing how 1 rope will put you in another world down there.

  23. Ya know i am not 100% on that. I believe its Ok to work on them as long as your not on or in the cabin's while doing so.
  24. A hand cart with 1000ft cable winch ran by 2 marine batteries is much simpler. We did the same until we bought a camp and property just outside the park. We spent enough on cabins over the years to pay for the camp.
