  1. I will tell you for a fact that you will have a problem...If you already dont...if you dont drop the numbers fast. If you have local guys with dogs...Run Them! The Yote is a smart dude like you said and will not come back into calls after getting shot at. 3 hours and they were on a deer means good numbers, Not afraid and future trouble. Every one you take will help but not enough to fix the problem. You will be shocked the numbers of yotes that will be taken in a problem area with a good group of dogs and hunters. If you have those numbers ,Are in a winter yarding area and get a good amount of snow this year your herd will take a massive hit.
  2. Cool. First call= 5 Yotes? That is a good number of dogs to come in on the first go around. Do you have small game on that farm or are the deer numbers down?
  3. Again this must show the different parts of the state. I sure am glad i dont have to rely on Grouse and Dove for my supper in my area but Turkeys are many, Far and Wide.
  4. Piles of them around the farm but no hunters on them. Seems like they come a couple days then take a couple off.
  5. You have to remember that most of those landowners that border that property want it also. It may go for more than its worth or if you overbid the guy that wants it and then ask him for access to it? Better get the checkbook out. Then again you may get lucky and nobody wants or can afford the land at this time.
  6. LOL>>>> Should have a warning label." Males not to sniff the bottle".
  7. I can show you anytime. I Draw out the fluid around her Cervix before i Ai her and its some stuff that will make any buck show his emotion. Gimmick? Maybe some but get it from a local real deer scent farmer and the last thing you will get is gimmick. Of course you have to know how to hunt and how to use scent.
  8. LOL..Not strange really. Things are not good up here. You may have went right past my place and its been weeks from the last deer i have seen around here.
  9. The younger generation see no use in guns because they see them as only being used to kill people. The younger generation does not hunt so they will see no use for them there.
  10. You have a huge problem started my friend. The only reason you have deer is because you are in an area that has large numbers. That will change around that piece of ground soon enough. If they dont kill they will run them out of your area. I would be jumping on that problem this winter. Run the dogs every weekend and you will pile them up. Also make a few $ as i hear they are bringing decent $
  11. That would work. Smoke bomb whilst you and your buddy stands outside with pump shotguns filled with buckshot. Nah that would not be far would it? Use your imagination.lol
  12. That would be a givin but would be interesting to watch just what does come in and out of one.
  13. Learn from it first. Set a Cam up on the den and watch the comings and goings. Its easy to be gone with it.
  14. Yeah no doubt. Bet they will even try to defuse this research. This has been a givin in this area. Take them out and you will have your game back and no the coyote will not just repopulate itself over night. It takes years before you have any numbers back again. I think the problem is that some think 2-3-5 yotes are a problem and i dont think thats the case. When you have them talking to each other on 3 different corners of your property you have a problem started.
  15. Airguns in Bow Season..Can see it now. Who would ever know on private land? This will just make a crooks life much easier. Wonder if the state will add a tag so they make some extra cash?
  16. Although i agree with your post on what you find i believe you are talking about 2 different kind of people/hunters. The low life that will do as you say are the same ones that will kill any buck they see. Yes the hunting world has changed and most hunters are looking for real deer that are some what of a challenge to kill but i find it hard to believe that those are the hunter doing what you say you are finding. I myself saw dead bucks on Letchworth this year that were left because they did not make the cut for antler restricts. The guys that shot them are not the same guys that are looking to only kill 120 inch bucks and up.
  17. Eric if you run dry on your search let me know. I have a pickup truck full of cut off antlers if he can use them without the burr attached. Sure i could hook him up with a few if so. Maybe even order myself a new skinning knife!
  18. Every person i know that hunts does and feels just what you said...But still wont shoot baby bucks or any buck not mature. There is not a stronger feeling of accomplishment than finding, pattering and harvesting a single mature buck out of the woodlot you hunt. Thats hunting. Shooting any buck is not success for many hunters getting up in age and has a wall full of great bucks and has killed 100's of them. Yeah finding and taking a mature buck sure makes my Stecter pick up!
  19. Now with Air Guns it will open up areas to hunting that could not have guns in before. Air and Bows.with little setback rules.
  20. LOL....You must know a little about that.. Golden Malrin ..Stuff? They make it 10 feet they did good. That stuff is nasty!
  21. Your so full of it. I know exactly what it is to have 3 packs of dogs talking to each other on 3 different corners of the property. That is Fact! I know exactly what 8-10 dead Fallow deer look like in a pen with only 1 showing any signs of being ate on. Thats a Fact! I know exactly what it feels like to have a coyote grow and show its teeth at you while you are gutting a deer with a flashlight at 10 yards. That is a fact! I know exactly what it feels like to hook your dog to the chain at your sliding back door to let him out to slide the door shut and not make it to the kitchen before he is jumping and scratching at the door to come back in within seconds for me to open the door only to see 2 coyotes at the burning barrel looking for breakfast. That is a fact! The facts are we got this land and it was/is one of the best farms to hunt in Jefferson Cty where you can see bucks chasing does in the middle of the day where most places you cant find a deer to even hunt. That was before the dog problem,That is a proven Fact. Turkeys were everywhere where a person could glass from the road and see Toms strutting in every field on the farm. That was before the dog problem. I really dont give a rats ass what you think you know about a problem you apparently have never had to deal with but it is a true fact that if you call full out war and kill yotes on sight regardless 24/7 365 you will get your problem solved and your land back to where it was when you got it. That is a Fact! This crap that they will just return is just that. It took 3-4 years before we even started seeing and hearing them again and that was this fall. The problem will be solved again! That Is a FACT!!!!!!
  22. Around these parts the hunting consists of 3-4 pickups,4-5 snowmobiles, A good group of hunters and a pack of hunting dogs. The outside field watchers carry the rifles most times and the snow goers carry a shotgun. Have you ever seen how fast a guy can run down a yote on a snowmobile? Many people will call it many things but at the end of the day the goal is to take care of a problem and end up with a dead animal. That happens most times when the dogs and snow goers get done with their day.
  23. Well let me be the first to tell ya that anything that any observation on this 800 acres is nothing but fact. Had lots of yotes and had no deer or turkeys to speak of. Removed the problem vermin and the deer and turkey numbers jumped right back up. Call it what you will but that is fact. As far as livestock, When man has to work around problem animals the animals will lose every time. When it comes to the Yotes being no more dangerous than man statement i would have to disagree because i know and have control of what man does on these 800 so i know where the problem comes from.
