  1. We never find them around here any longer. They are well fed with feed left in the ground and sometimes we lose 1000lbs Alfalfa bales off the wagons and they seem to fall in just the right spots for them. I give the guys grief for it when they lose them but 10-12 bales a year are not going to break the place.
  2. Very true but they dont hang around long. When the Orange footed Mallards come down the line they hit my farm by the thousands. I mean when your sitting in a treestand deer hunting and a flock comes in to land in a bean field they actually black out a House,Barn,Silo combo when they swing the field and turn. Hard to believe their numbers until you see it. Both geese are here by the gaggles at about any time. I have a flock of 100 or so in a corn field right now sitting on a couple feet of snow. But i does kinda suck when hunting them with only a couple of guys because you punch out so fast. Almost not worth setting up the decoys.
  3. My cop buddies all have them. They yote hunt with them, they have night laser lights on them, tricked right out.
  4. Wish we had that little bit of snow. Until this week if you got a pic around here you would get a deer snow plowing with its chest. Deer are out in masses now. Every bare patch in every field has deer in them! Nice Pic's!
  5. Buy land next to a state park safety zone. You will never be sorry. You have some top notch hunting of your own on your land and you can jump over on the state/park land at any time.
  6. HaHa. I love it .A few short years ago we were all led to believe that when CWD came to town the deer were all going to die and hunting would be wiped out. The Agenda Failed. The proof has shown that regardless if a herd has an 80% infection rate the herd will continue to grow and adult 4 and 5 year old bucks will continue to hit the record books. Now that all these years have been wasted maybe they can figure out the real problem. If a landowner has to many deer on his property then has can put the numbers where they are not wiping out crops. Works Here. In most places you will not see an overpopulation of deer on state land so it will be on the landowners.
  7. Yup but regardless of who is next to sleep in the big bed, they will be after some kind of gun control. Its all about the state and what the want i believe. I mean look at Alabama where they tell you to carry because they might not be there to help you and then take a look at our lovely state.
  8. I heard on our local news this morning that the DEC here said less shooting and more management is what is needed. Whatever that means!
  9. You have not seen anything until you see a farmer spreading cow manure with an old time beater spreader and seeing dead cats come flying out of the spreader. This guy could never keep the unwanted barn cats under control so every now and again he would thin the herd. Of course its a tough job when you have the biggest farm on the first side road 2 miles outside of town. People love to drop their problems off on him!
  10. Thats another critter we dont see in these parts. Can ya even eat those things or are they just targets?
  11. LOL...I did see that. I was not involved at all but i thought myself with this post and the porn post that JJ was pulling Pap's chain and Pap was taking it a bit far with it being a joke.. Bad blood there i guess?
  12. Started turning wrenches at a young age working on my own crap. Worked a few years at a local garage and then bought in. Started a deer farm, bought a bunch of land and now spend my days at home enjoying life.
  13. 10ply on your 1500? Overkill but good. I have them on my 2500 Ram. Tires are the one thing i will also not cheap out on!
  14. I guess this is possible but if so its the only kind of critter i dont have on my property. Maybe they came and saw the 5ft of snow and left with a vow to never return!
  15. Have been told the deer on Letchworth that use our farm as a food source helper in the winter look great and are many. They bed in the safety zone to bed and step out into our alfalfa to dig. Then down the swamp and up into the hardwoods, then back to the park to bed. Pretty much as they do year around. Good news!
  16. Survey's results can be made to look like any starter would like them to look. 25.000 yotes in all of Ny? Not so sure those numbers sound right. Maybe but sounds real low.
  17. I hear that. Not sure why i really want to go but i have always wanted the thrill and look of one of those beasts standing up on its hind legs looking at the hunter 100 yards away and knowing that now is probably the time to center the scope and pray. lol Where is your sense of adventure my friend? How about them boys that tackle the job with stick and string? A well placed shot will bring down the biggest of beasts!
  18. Has anyone ever even seen a huntable population of doves? Cant say i have in any of my travels but then again i dont look for them. I guess they could throw the bird on the list of birds to hunt now but no extra charges should be added.
  19. Nope. Not when blown through the ribs. I try to shoot any deer, I shoot with that beast through the ribs. Shoulders do not hold up well thats for sure. I bought the gun as my only rifle to use anywhere on anything that i may hunt in my lifetime. The yotes that get bite by the beast really show the pressure that bullet carries. Main goal is a clean kill with fast death. Many are dead before they hit the ground i'm sure. The bucket list has an Alaska Brown bear hunt on it and cant wait to see what that gun will do to a pile of fury like one of those.
  20. One rifle for me .300Wby Mag. Take any game i will ever hunt with no need to own a pile of rifles. Shells are a tad bit on the high side so range shooting does not happen much but it will plant them at 400yds plus.
  21. LOL Thats where all the no answers came from for me. I guess it could be the same as a Columbidae season i guess.
  22. More No's than Yes's! Who will see the result's?
  23. Some of us already do that and when we do we are called law breakers. lol. We have been taking back our country, on our pieces of the country we own anyways, for a few years now. Seems we can do a better job.
