10 grand for many is nothing when it comes to that. Yes average Joe will be at a disadvantage again but the more hunting turns into a sport for the wealthy the sky's the limit....But maybe not?
-
In the future, the majority of the very few new kids that get into hunting will not start out with a compound if they can just use a scoped xbow. Its all about making it easy to kill deer and do whatever it takes to keep tag sales as high as possible. The DEC will continue to feel the pinch as more old timers hang up their weapons and drive to Florida for the winters.

Yup we will be able to find where each mature buck is at on a property on any givin day and then set up to drive them out and take them. I can see that coming down the road. Its all about inches and bone for many, at any cost. That should give the anti's and a few other groups something to write about. Wonder how the record book clubs will react to this one? Do time and they will be a thing of the past also.

QDM Meeting with Neighbors
Four Season Whitetail's replied to dbHunterNY's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
Dont ignore anything i said about CWD. Its now proven to be spread by males more than females and adults more than yearlings. Any association that stands for the practice of letting bucks grow to be mature is a big part of the problem. I said CWD was not a problem in states because its not killing the deer in any states. In fact if you look at the record books you will see CWD positive states at the top year after year. Now how can this be when we were told this disease was going to wipe the whitetails off the face of the earth? Seems like a state gets CWD..They get more deer and the population blows up? Funny how that can be. So now some associations are being called out for spewing off about a so called big problem with CWD when in fact it was the only ammo they had to save their skin. That dog dont hunt any longer and even their members are calling them out over it. I wish you the best on your new adventure and maybe we will get lucky and CWD will waltz across from Pa and help us all out. Its coming! -
Deer Farming News Investigation

Hello..Do you think Wisconsin is the only state that has CWD. Is that state the only state that the qdma has a foot in? No and No. The science shows over and over that CWD is found in more males than females and more adult males then yearlings. Either way the qdma stands for more mature animals and that spreads CWD. Period. Until they make it public that they change their stance then they are a part of the big problem. -

To you i would say go back and read post#28 your brother put up. Good science that qdma seems to be turning a blind eye at. -

harvest data strongly supports a frequency-dependent transmission structure with sex-specific infection rates that are two times higher in males than females!(QUOTE) Only need this one sentence out of your post to blow QDMA's harvest thoughts out of the water. If they continue saying to let bucks grow and mature they are supporting the spread of disease across the country. -

Very good words!!! I bolded the best. You see its not that anyone needs to agree with the QDMA. Its a fact, proven by science that CWD is moved more by all male deer and more so by mature male deer. Well if the QDMA does not change their stance then they are doing nothing to fight this disease. But on the other hand they want to put all the blame and laws against high fence because they say our TESTED herds move CWD???? HMMM. Can you say hypocrite? Different story when its on the other foot!!! I work and do my QDM for the biggest buck in the woods yes. On both sides of the fence because the true fact is, is that CWD is doing nothing in any state by any means to hurt the wild populations. If you could get rid of the DEC and EHD of states, there would be a much better wild herd in all states. But untill someone proves science wrong, The QDMA group supports the movement of disease across the countryside with their management practices! -
Yup this will lock down the vote's needed for a few more years in the seat.

Go back up to post #171 and read what a QDMA member of like 10 years has to say about QDMA and their ducking the issue of letting bucks walk to mature because they are infact the biggest proven carriers of CWD. If QDMA really had the animal and the best intrests of hunting on their mind they would not defend AR restricts like they do in Michigan but would say all male whitetails should be shot on sight regardless of size or age. Do you read the QDMA website? -

Yes one that lost the battle and has no ammo would put up a post like that. I could blast all the proven science on CWD and it hows, whens and wheres but why waste my time. Here i thought you were one of the ones that may have kept up with research but this shows how clueless you are also. I have been and will continue to be all about real conservation with my property and i will also continue to grow with the future. Look on the bright side. May not be long and you will all be searching the Dak's looking for those one or two deer that are left up there. Any time you want to match wit's on CWD, you just come a calling but do me a favor. Learn how it came about in your own state first! -
QDM Meeting with Neighbors
Four Season Whitetail's replied to dbHunterNY's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
You my friend should really do some research on CWD before you post about it on a public site. I could blow so many holes in your words and thoughs with fact proven science. You say you want to support QDMA and their thoughts on buck harvests and letting them mature. Correct???? So now do you want to read the facts and the science that shows CWD has been found in more male whitetails than females by a long shot and the fact that CWD has been found in more mature male whitetails than yearlings. So if you support these standings then you also are supporting the movement of CWD across the countryside along with the rest of the followers. Facts are showing more and more that CWD is spread by hunters themselves. I support the feeding of wildlife and the care of land. I do plenty of it on my 1000 acres of land. QDM is TDM and deer farming all wrapped up in one package. Throw in a couple feel good words and you have the QDMA. Simple! -
Deer Farming News Investigation

Well i guess we will see when the smoke clears! I know you are not that lost not to know how screwed up the deer herd is in just about every state, including ours. Just read the states hunting site like this one. Complaint after complaint with people even giving up because of no deer to hunt. If you only knew how many people in Ny i have sold deer to that fenced in their 300 to 500 acres of woods just to have a great population of deer for their own family and friends to hunt. No selling hunts. Just good healthy high genetic deer. That my friend is because of hunters and the DEC. Nothing will change in the future. More implements to hunt with equals more money for the state to take in. Their only concern. You say you dont think deer farms will be huge in the future? What do you think will happen when they say people can catch the CWD bug by eating positive meat. We have tested animals with testing getting even better. They will come to the clean high fence deer for venison. -
lol...Yes 2 weeks ago in Florida was a bomb. Seems like Ny is always last in line for everything.

Funny i just watched 9 toms in one flock with no strutting but then around the corner in one of my bean fields there were 3 toms in a flock and all were strutting. I believe there were 80 plus birds out that i saw. Wont be long now before things start to heat up big time.

I guess thats your choice. We all have one but with someone like you with age on yourself..As Myself..You have seen where we had deer hunting back when there were camps and such and great hunting on all property, without even having to ask permission. Those days are long gone never to be seen again. We all have a choice to grow with and where the sport is going and make alot of money on the way or sit back and watch it crumble around you. Again, Your Choice. Me, Im staying on the cutting edge and enjoying this great animal 24-7 and making a very good living doing so. My Choice! -
Deer Farming News Investigation
Four Season Whitetail's replied to WesternNY's topic in General Chit Chat
For my farm its breeding animals. I dont have a ranch or hunt in my 5 one acre pens. Some have no clue on what a person can make/Do On/With whitetails. In todays market every person that has a few extra acres should be raising a few and enjoying life. Dairy farms dont cut it any more unless you have 2000 of them and then the numbers for 100 deer and 2000 cows would be close to the same at profit time. I know it wont be done but i would like to know how many on here voted No for the poll but have hunted other animals behind fence? People are blind when it comes to Bambi...Its ok to to kill a pig, fallow or bird but not a whitetail. I wont ask because i wont get the truth. As far as CWD im sure 99% of the people do not even know how cwd came into our state and thats sad. The facts are starting to show the true movers of CWD and when it does come out. You will be the fools! We test our deer and now that we farmers have gotten together and paid the million plus to come up with a live test for CWD, Well..Fools Again. As far as shutting down. Good luck with that. What a person does on their own private property with the animals they own is their business and no one elses. groups like QDMA. NRA and many others have tried for years because they are not stupid and they see the writing on the wall. Way to much money and power is involved in high fence and now we even have a legislator in the seat in Alabama that owns 3 ranches and 2 breeding farms in 3 different states. There are many, many wealthy people that have millions in Ny alone that have whitetails. Wont be long and our state will be in court for shutting our border down illegally, stay tuned. It will be in print soon. -
Looks like there is a good book you can buy right here on this site about hunting the Dak's. Looks to be some good reading!

Deer Farming News Investigation
Four Season Whitetail's replied to WesternNY's topic in General Chit Chat
I find it so funny that someone had to dig back so many years to find dirt on the industry. It also could tell the story of how a deer farmer made hunting so good in the state of Ohio. As you read, The deer were all but gone because of man and a farmer helped save the herd. This just happened again with 3 different cervids that were gone in the wild but living great on a ranch in Texas and thanks to that farmer those species will be saved. As is happening all across the country, the herds are so messed up and about gone in some states that the deer on farms will save the day again and be the only place to find any kind of deer. For any person in Ny State or any state for that matter that owns some open unused property and also having a hard time making ends meet or supporting their family is crazy not to be raising a few deer. A family can earn 20 to 80 grand a year of extra income with a hobby, by raising the greatest animal in the world, in the fastest growing industry in the country! Just like cell phones and the internet, The people dictate what the future will be and for those that are not narrowed minded and can see the writing on the wall, Their/Our/Mine future is bright. When you sit in a room in the middle of the country, with about every state in the union represented and watch 81 animals sell for a record 1.9 million dollars. Well you figure it out. Thats what scares the many state leaders.Their set to lose millions in tag sales from hunters that no longer are satisfied by seeing a deer or two a day. There is a huge demand and huge power comes with that demand. -

As is shown by the thousands of hunters that now use them and the numbers will continue to grow. If you look at the groups fighting the growth you will see its the same groups whom's life styles are becoming a thing of the past. Some on here cant handle the way the future is wrote out but there are hundreds in Ny and thousands across the country that do. We will be the ones that prosper because we will grow with the present and the future. Many of us will and do have it great on both sides of the fence. -
QDM Meeting with Neighbors
Four Season Whitetail's replied to dbHunterNY's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
Oh i see. You dodge the question because you dont understand. You see it does not matter what qdma thinks about deer farms. They know they and high fence hunting are going to be the ones that are going to be the biggest part of their demise in a few short years! My question to you was..How can you support qdma's thought on letting any buck grow to maturity when in fact science shows that any male whitetail is the biggest carrier of cwd and by them saying let the little guys walk and grow up shows that they do not care about the spread of cwd. Yet they two face their way along by trying to use cwd against high fence and farms? My question was answered about what i and most all deer farmers( because we can all afford alot of land) do to support our wild herds and the hunters we let use our property on both sides of the fence. We can do that! -

Four Season Whitetail's replied to dbHunterNY's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
Yeah ok! good try at ducking that one. Its shows you have no answer and you cant condone what is happening. How can you avoid the fact that YOUR OWN MEMBERS are telling and showing the QDMA what they are doing is counter productive from what science is telling them. Thats a fact!!! I said all along that i use some of QDMA's thoughts to grow my trophy bucks, Why? Because QDM is deer farming without the fence. I am not worried about my trade. Mine is tested and proven but now yours you say lets let these possible CWD positive bucks grow to be an older age of which science shows to be a higher risk. You may want to look at the Ny board of directors before you spout of to much about where my name sits on the board of Ny deer farmers. This post is part of what the op started. Its now a proven fact that the very thing the QDMA stands for is a positive direction for spreading CWD around the country. Thats science proven and another fact. Want to try and duck another one???? -

So lets take this QDMA thing a step further. You guys are all hyped up about your new club when in fact guys with degrees and years of deer knowledge are telling you QDM is going to be bad for our future. Explain Please? QDMA is a group that wants your money like any other group! I still believe we need to do what we can for the animal but the writing is on the wall for the future. Really love how the truth is finally coming out of that group about CWD. How it got here and the players in the game of moving CWD. WE have tested animals. You dont. The future is clear! nsterlndr QDMA Member Join Date: Mar 2007 Location: Traverse City, MIchigan Posts: 1,019 Quote: Originally Posted by dipper These guys already have their minds made up, and their opinions are obvious because they are in the deer business. No on here cares about your deer business. Fences don't block Cwd, it is already in the wild herd outside the almond, wi slum. Central wi will be a new Cwd unit in a matter of years. Deer hunting will never be the same because of the money hungry deer breeding business. Heck it might get to the point we will shoot deer just so they don't contaminate the soil further, but I hope that is t the case. Human greed can destroy anything! Thanks for your info terry! Dipper - I'm not sure who you mean by "these guys" but for the record I have no connection to the captive cervid industry nor do I defend aspects of that industry that increase the risk of the spread of CWD. But the fact is that hunters, deer managers, state game agencies and organizations like QDMA also play a role in the spread of CWD in free ranging deer herds and ignoring that role to focus blame solely on the CC industry is hypocritical. The paper that is the basis for this thread has nothing to do with the CC industry. Like it or not, CWD was introduced to free ranging deer in Wisconsin 20 - 30 years ago, probably as the result of hunters bringing infected carcasses back from a trip out west. You can blame the CC industry all you want but the fact is that game management policies and hunter actions are how we can deal with the disease once it's in the free ranging herd, as it is in increasingly large portions of the Midwest. The facts are that yearling dispersal and an advanced buck age structure are counterproductive to risk mitigation efforts in free ranging deer. That presents a problem for QDMA, since protecting yearling bucks and creating larger numbers of older bucks in the population are primary objectives of the philosophy. To this point, QDMA has been largely silent on how their policies my be part of the problem instead of part of the solution, vis a vis CWD and other communicable diseases, instead choosing to focus their antipathy on the captive cervid industry, when it's possible that some self-reflection and policy revision might be a more appropriate means of combating the spread of disease. As more and more research shows results such as the ones indicated in this paper, it's going to be harder and harder for QDMA and hunters who hold themselves out as responsible stewards of the resource to turn a blind eye to their own actions and how they may be actually hurting the resource. __________________ Member: QDMA MCF Concerned Sportsmen of Mich -
